I've been saying this for a while but against opponents that people dgaf about (like, say, Holy Cross) why not do a 6 pm door sale for student tickets, where there are, say, 100-200 free tickets (somewhere in D or E or whatever) available for underclassmen?

The way I see it, your current student-side Faithful are of two types:

1) the ones who were already hockey fans before Cornell (hi) and
2) the ones who get infected here.

You will always get the money from #1 if the product is decent.
You need to get #2 in the door.

Why not start with the freshmen?

They should try what Maryland football did yesterday and offer one semester of tuition in a raffle.  ;D  It didn't really work for Maryland, which still played to a half-empty stadium.

In past years you would never give up your season tickets unless you knew you were dying or never coming to a game again otherwise. Even then...

Yeah the dynamic pricing is ridiculous. The best way to ruin a good fanbase is to milk them for money and kill the atmosphere. Theres just no foresight at all with this. Hope someone is in Moore or whoever decided this's ear about how stupid it is

Minor point, but unless something changed very recently, the playoff game pricing is actually set by the ECAC,and is lower than Cornell's regular season game pricing.

You can email her and other people in her athletic department. I encourage you to do so.

Quote from: Bluelightning on November 01, 2026, 02:15:11 PMUcla football is 8-0 and playing in front of 1/2 empty stadium. They can announce nonsense attendance numbers for penn state football but everyone knows they are lucky to be 75% full.
Looking ahead to February Friday night game vs RPI .....lots of tickets still available in sections L,M,N. I could be wrong but this was almost completely season tickets in past years? I though Boston would sell out almost as fast as Harvard but not even close.
I think season tix in my normal section were around $375 for 16 games (I don't count preseason)...which is $23.50/each. If we host playoffs this turns into even better deal.
Looking ahead...I haven't purchased Union tickets (season finale). They want $37 each. 95% of us are probably saying "let's see how the season starts to pan out before forking over that kind of $$". They also have had Xmas deals in past but they were usually for early January non conference games.
L, M, and N were over half empty this weekend. Never seen that before.

Had to look. Paid $160 for 2 tickets vs Harvard for games 1 & 2. That's $40 each. Since it went to game 3...paid $100 for 2 ($50 each). That's through  Cornell. Not sure how new this dynamic pricing is (since I was a season ticket member before this).
Was it worth it to pay $50/ticket to see game 3 vs Harvard? To me it was (and I don't have a lot of discretionary income). I can see how these prices are making people decide to do something else. And with prices of everything else, it is hard for many people to use extra cash on Cornell hockey. Overall I think it's a compound issue of pricing, loss of interest, rather do other things , and Halloween weekend.

Nikki Moore should look at gate $$ and lack of asses in the stands  and realize something isn't working. She's a professional. Hoping she and her team figure things out. I do enjoy the extra leg room, but i'd trade it for being squished and Lynah electric again

I would suggest a cordial email to her and anyone else you feel needs to hear this message:

Plus isn't the (foolish) reason other schools do this is to keep out the traveling fan (Cornell fan of course)?  How many ecac teams travel well enough to Lynah to prevent them from coming due to higher prices?  Instead it's just going to potentially keep our home crowd away. I would wager a guess anyway that the majority of visiting fans are player family members.

Yeah, I think besides the band of that one away team (I forgot which, forgive me), it's single-digit other, non-player family fans. A lot of player families who are from the GTA and that area find it easiest to get here, though. Them I don't particularly mind.

Also I think a recruiting advantage

Clarkson is the only other league school who always has a traveling band. Yale and RPI have occasionally sent visiting bands to Lynah.

Wow, it used to be a common occurrence in the 1990s. No more.

From the dim recesses of my 80s brain, I saw at least Clarkson, RPI, Vermont, BU, and BC send bands to Lynah, some of them excellent.
