O'Brien surprised me, I honestly thought he might be fighting for a lineup spot, but I guess this doesn't necessarily mean that he won't be.

Didn't watch because I was too busy stressing over the Red Sox but we had an absolutely dominant 5-0 win over Binghamton today. We really look like one of the better teams in the country right now, it's a shame our schedule has been so weak that our chances of getting an at large bid are seriously hurt. The committee doesn't rely on the RPI as strictly as in hockey but it still would be nice to be able to drop "bad wins" in the soccer RPI. I believe we have dropped from about #40 to #90 over the course of our 4 game win streak. That's just silly.

Quote from: chimpfood on September 29, 2025, 02:51:31 PMSchedule just dropped, only having two home non-conference games is brutal (no offense to Alfred State and Misericordia, whatever the hell that is, but they don't count)

Actually it's 4, not 2.  Colgate and Army are non-conference, too.

And Misericordia is a tiny D-III college outside Wilkes-Barre, PA.
Right, I wasn't counting the D3 games because I can go to Ithaca high school and catch a more interesting basketball game. I'll still probably go to those though because I'm a sicko.

And with our win we are rewarded with a 20 spot drop to 93 in the RPI! God I hate the soccer RPI sometimes

I absolutely love the consistency that we have had my whole life. I literally cannot remember us finishing outside the top half of the pairwise. In my opinion, that is so much better than having boom/bust cycles even if it ends in a few nattys. I think that our consistent success is the sole reason that our crowd and traditions are among the best in the country. All it takes is a couple bad years for people to stop coming to the games and us to lose our traditions, and spoiler alert, this ends with us having the fanbase and rink environment of RPI or Clarkson. If Casey can just continue putting together winning, NCAA tournament caliber seasons, I will be thrilled.

The Heisenberg list has a couple names I don't remember seeing before. One is Nolan Long who is playing for Saint Andrews this year. Presumably he is Aidan Long's brother because they have the same birthplace. There is also Declan Wotton who is a 16 year old (may birthday) in the Q who scored in his first game.

Chicago played their first game of the season today, major tallied an assist and Tuminaro was +1. Exciting that hockey is starting back up.

Quote from: ugarteEarly season RPI doesn't respect our schedule. Currently at 74. Too much SOS early in the season Dartmouth is higher at 1-3. Princeton is top 10 and lost their only game against a good opponent.

Yeah I wouldn't worry much about RPI for individual teams yet but one encouraging sign is that the Ivy League average RPI is currently at .5076. I don't expect it to stay that high but with what looks like a clear top 3 of Penn, Princeton, and Cornell, that number could be enough to get all 3 in the big dance.

Quote from: TrotskyWhat is the soccer post season like?  Is there a conference tournament?  Is there an Ivy auto bid to the NC$$?

LMGTFM (AI so assume it is all wrong):

QuoteThe Ivy League holds a four-team conference tournament.  The winner receives the automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.

QuoteThe NCAA tournament involves single-elimination rounds played at campus sites, with the winners advancing to the "College Cup," a predetermined neutral site for the semifinals and championship. The Division I tournament features 64 teams, with the top 16 seeded and receiving a bye in the first round.

Last year:

QuoteThree Ivies will continue on to the 2024 Men's Soccer College Cup as Cornell, Penn, and Princeton all earned berths to the NCAA Tournament.

Penn earned the number six overall seed in the College Cup as the Quakers finished the regular season with a 14-3-1 overall record and ranked seventh in the RPI metrics. Penn recorded a variety of notable non-conference wins throughout the season with victories over Pittsburgh, Hofstra, and Fordham. With the seeding, the Quakers earned a first-round bye and will take on the winner of UMass and Evansville.

Princeton, who earned the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament, didn't have to stress throughout the selection show as the Tigers took down Penn, 3-1, in last weekend's conference tournament championship game. The Tigers (12-6, 5-2 Ivy) enter the tournament having won three of their last four games and will take on Akron in the first round.

Cornell received an at-large selection into the NCAA Tournament after a terrific regular season that saw the Big Red finish 12-3-2 overall and 5-2 in Ivy League play.   Cornell is led by Co-Offensive Player of the Year Alex Harris who ranks second in the nation in goals per game. Cornell will take on Fordham in the opening round.

Most recent 2025 poll.

That Akron home game on October 7 could make this a special season.
NCAA tourney is 48 teams with the top 16 getting a bye, not sure how 64 teams would work with that system.

Akron lost yesterday so they'll probably drop to around #10 this week.

I'm less confident, I just hope we can sneak our way into Ivy madness after losing so many key pieces. Noard isn't a guy that I see being able to take on most of the volume scoring that we're losing from Naz, AK, etc so I think we're gonna need to see some other guys step it up. If Beccles can become a bona fide point guard or Hinton can become a 10/5/5 guy with good defense I love our odds though.

Didn't know about the Michigan state game, that's exciting.
