Nothing on MSG's website yet. Occasionally they have it before anyone else, though probably not intentionally on Cornell's part.

Usually July?

We've heard as early as April in some years. Can never hurt to check.

I mean so far we have SHU, who are paying us back for our visit in 24-25, and Omaha, who we're paying back for our games last year. Again, I still think Omaha is a sneaky team that would be really good in a weaker conference, they just have the misfortune of playing in the NCHC. :')

I think we'll get one or two good OOC series to make up for it, though.

Quote from: stereax on May 22, 2026, 07:15:37 AMAs per Bucci, trapezoid rule will start next year in Div 1 hockey.

I was pulling for a Buckminsterfullerene rule instead, but this'll do.

Not sure what my family plans to do - hopefully they renew! Love Big Red Hockey!

Isaac's Crew will return, assuming I'm not too stoned out of my gourd on painkillers when the 27th arrives. Surgery is finally this Friday.

Quote from: Beeeej on April 17, 2026, 01:08:28 PMDana "Ocean" Wallace, Winter's little brother, just entered the transfer portal after two years at St. Cloud State where he got only slightly more ice time than I did. I assume Cornell isn't going to be interested, though maybe he'll end up with Winter at St. Thomas.
I figured when Winter entered the portal that he'd go to SCSU to play with his brother. Maybe they'll reunite.

Only 4, the fifth line is aggregate.

He's from just outside Rochester.  Those people are all crazy.

BTW, AI so probably nonsense but:

QuoteMichael Sandruck reportedly decommitted from Cornell due to a lack of expected progress in his development, according to forum discussions. It was suggested that the decision for him to leave the recruiting class may have been initiated by the university.

Reason: Did not progress as hoped, per forum, making it likely a mutual or school-initiated separation.

Quote from: The Rancor on April 16, 2026, 11:19:19 AMDoug "Crankshaft" Murray wasn't known as a scorer lol.

Boom

True, yet up until this month he was Cornell's all-time leading scoring d-man in the NHL.

A fond memory of the 2003 Frozen Four team is chatting with Murray about his "playing style" - one of his favorite things to do was finish a hit against an opposing forward by pinning him to the wall and laughing in his ear as loud as he could.

Quote from: sah67 on April 15, 2026, 12:10:05 PMWith an assist last night, Malinski hits the 40 point mark for the season (8G, 32A). It's especially impressive given that he has gotten almost zero power-play time, except on the rare occasions when Makar and Toews are both out of the lineup.
Is Malinski the first Cornell defensemen to ever hit 40 points in the NHL?

In a season? Yes. Douglas Murray topped out at 17 one season but totaled 64 for his career. No other Cornell d-man has ever even hit 40 points total.

Quote from: stereax on April 15, 2026, 08:43:24 PMTeams potentially interested in Quentin Miller: BC, BU, WMU.
Divver says Cornell recruited Miller before Denver? And that we could get involved.
Casey probably recruited him from Quebec last season when he was looking for a goalie and ended up getting Cournoyer. I'm sure Casey will inquire but I'd be shocked if a 4th round pick were willing to drop from the NCHC to the ECAC.

If he's looking at three more years of Hicks being Denver's go-to, which is not at all an unreasonable assumption, then he may be looking for a place where he's more likely to be the #1. Cornell has both hockey and goalie bona fides, and as has been suggested here in other contexts, a Cornell degree has significantly more cache than all the other NCHC schools. I'm not saying it'll happen, but it wouldn't surprise me nearly as much as it apparently would you.

Quote from: ugarte on April 15, 2026, 04:29:28 PMmy feeling about this, as always, is that i share a romantic attachment to college sports (and cornell sports in general) but that it remains improper to pretend that there is a place to regulate a maximum wage to preserve the ability to preserve the number of schools able to compete at the top level. college sports is now a multibillion dollar business. it is effectively a near-free minor league for professional sports. as such, the players should get paid a market wage. NIL is a jury-rigged solution to that conflict.

the place for romantic amateurism is in division iii, which has all of the virtues you seek but (apparently) none of the competition you want to watch.
I'm not interested in arguing about the ethics of paying or not paying athletes, but we're all Cornell fans, so obviously we aren't going to randomly start following D-III sports. I root for Cornell because I went there and loved attending the hockey games (and occasionally other sports like lacrosse).  I would not have had that experience at a D-III school. If athletes getting paid ruins Cornell's ability to compete, then I (and sounds like most others here) will quit following and just do something else with my/our time. That's one of many costs to the end of amateurism even if you happen to think it's a fairer system overall.

I dunno, man, one of my poker buddies went to Oswego and brought us to a game up there several years ago (Saturday night, following him joining us for the Friday night game at Lynah), and he and his fellow alums seemed just about as nuts for their program as we've been for ours. No scholarships, very few possibilities of going pro, but plenty of school spirit and love for the game. Maybe your experience would've been different, no idea - but there definitely isn't an inherent lack of devotion to hockey at D-III schools.

Per the exchange, Keopple is already offering autographs for $20.

But why is Cournoyer in there?

Quote from: scoop85 on April 15, 2026, 01:47:55 PMCoincidence or not, here's Cornell's launch of an NIL initiative:

https://cornellbigred.com/news/2026/4/15/baseball-athletics-launches-big-red-exchange-to-connect-student-athletes-and-businesses-for-nil-opportunities.aspx

"Big Red Exchange also integrates secure payment processing, enabling businesses to compensate student-athletes directly within the platform. The system automatically generates IRS 1099 forms within each student-athlete's Influencer app, simplifying compliance and tax reporting."

Genius.

Hm, maybe the defensive corps can build me a deck.
