Re: Dartmouth Game Thread - 2 years ago
Scersk '97 Shootouts are by definition a clown show, as is overtime. I hate this anti-climactic crap. They've managed to take what used to be the most exciting part of the game--overtime--and make it boring and annoying for those of us who know what's going on. By the time a game gets to OT, they're only playing for 1/3 of the value of the game in the standings and 10% of the value in the NCAAby jtwcornell91 - Hockey
Re: Cornell Football 2021 - 2 years ago
Swampy CU2007 Al DeFlorio Noel appears to be averse to searches. Has a search been done for a major sport head coach since Brian Earl's hiring? Look at lacrosse: Pietramala to Tambroni to DeLuca to Kerwick to Milliman to Buczek. Add Koll to Grey in 2021. And, of course: Austin to Archer in 2012. All elevated from the then current coaching staff. If you truly don’t care if you’re making thby jtwcornell91 - Other Sports

Ken711 George64 CU2007 George64 rss77Maxie Baughan used transfers to upgrade the talent plus some good recruiting. Yes, things greatly improved during his tenure. In his final three years, his teams were 20-9-1! Too bad he couldn’t keep his fly zipped! In eight seasons, Archer’s teams have won 21 games. . Elaborate!! Baughan became head football coach at Cornell in 1983, and his 1988 teaby jtwcornell91 - Other Sports

Chris '03 ursusminor Both RPI and DC have postponed their games for the upcoming weekend. Thus, the Harvard-Union game is the only one of the 4 games in the RPI and Union vs. Dartmouth and Harvard set currently scheduled. Union @ Dartmouth now Wednesday January 26th. Dartmouth visits Lynah two days later. Gaudet would never have tolerated such a disadvantage!by jtwcornell91 - Hockey

Trotsky Good article. This shocked me: Forfeits don't count towards the Pairwise. At least they haven't in the past, when it comes to things like using illegal players. The fuck is the ostensible reason for that? That's pretty much always been the case in college sports. Some years ago, Penn retroactively forfeited a bunch of football games, including one to us, and all that happened wasby jtwcornell91 - Hockey

Trotsky BeeeejThey have officially given Section C back to the studentsThis is great news. I loved my C seats, but it was a shame that the students were broken up, and it fucked up coordination between between AB and DE. I will look forward to sitting across the ice and watching an entire wall of students cheering in unison. After the Plague. I wonder if they're finally taking out the plastiby jtwcornell91 - Hockey

Re: Lynah now at full capacity - 2 years ago
marty Dafatone What does it count as for RPI? The pairwise is practically just RPI with the occasional wrinkle. Looks like a tie to me, or maybe the same 55% stuff. Good fodder for JTW's students, but not so much for my vintage brain. We're working on the page proofs now, but here's the preprint:by jtwcornell91 - Hockey

abmarks Iceberg The previous break was a little over 2 weeks ago. Not surprising that the effects are being seen now, but at least there's a much longer break about to begin which should help significantly IDK. By the time the students are scheduled to return to campus in January omicron is going to be absolutely rampant and dominant in this country. Trotsky Ken711 There's hasn't been a whisper out of the AD's office on the Cornell football program, either they aren't going to do anything yet again (probable), or they are waiting until after the 3 day signing period which starts this Wednesday (hopeful). If there actually are any Old Rich Football Obsessed Alums (mental picture: Sterling Hayden in Strangelove) then they have to be doing everytby jtwcornell91 - Other Sports

ursusminor And on Saturday RPI lost to previously 1-12 Alaska whose only other win was vs. Clarkson. Although the Nanooks did get two almost-wins in Ithaca. In fact, with the home-away weighting, I think two OT losses on the road actually counts for more than one regulation win at home.by jtwcornell91 - Hockey

Trotsky Rita I can't find it now, but yesterday Yahoo news had an article about Covid-19 in upstate NY and how there are major areas where the vaccination rates are low and the hospitalization rates are now rising. Surprise, Surprise. Most of upstate is Derpistan. Although I've seen that Rochester has a lower vax rate than Monroe County as a whole, despite being a lot bluer. upprdeck provost with another email today 300 cases the last 2 days.. is break gonna make this better or worse in a few weeks., Do I recall correctly that Cornell did not have a vax mandate for students this semester? Drew2 Hey guys/gals,From a Tech perspective.... I was at the game last night (just got home after a 6 hour ride) I think the game was evenly played, I think your Goalie made some tremendous stops to keep us off the board early, that being said, I was impressed with your team speed, very unlike Big Red of years ago....the game has changed. Re: Clarkson Game Thread - 2 years ago
Trotsky redice Is this the worst collapse in Cornell Hockey history or at least during Mike's tenure? In the Schafer era, I nominate the final game in 1999. This was game 2 of a first to 3 points QF series at Princeton. We had come from behind to tie in the first game and had a 4-1 lead halfway through the deciding game. Then, this. However, tonight blows that away. I have added it to thby jtwcornell91 - Hockey

Rita redice Is this the worst collapse in Cornell Hockey history or at least during Mike's tenure? Is this a bus ride home where they are only taking off their skates? They did that once after a horrible loss v. Army (back in the 90's??). I just told my wife that story.by jtwcornell91 - Hockey

Scersk '97 ugarte It's from Davy! And let's go red might be used by other schools, mucking up the hashtag. It's not. It's from "My Old Cornell" or "Carnelian and White." Indeed, "Carnelian and White" is from 1906, whereas MYOC is from 1917, so the earliest reference is from the seldom performed (except by the band, lyric-less) football song. arugula Iceberg jtwcornell91 Am I the only one freaking out at all of the crowd shots with no one wearing masks and everyone's mouth open? I don't know MSG specifically but pretty much everywhere in NYC is asking for proof of vaccination and then allowing people to not wear masks in those places. Trotsky 13 is my favorite integer so fuck y'all who are afraid of it. My family went on a river cruise for my 50th birthday, and the four of us booked a pair of adjacent cabins which were numbers 211 and 215. So apparently A-ROSA Flusskreuzfahrten are also triskadekaphobes.by jtwcornell91 - Hockey

Jim Hyla jtwcornell91 I was also going to complain about Malone wearing #13, but I see from looking at Greg's numerical roster that we're otherwise actually out of numbers between 2 and 29, with 25 out of circulation. Of course, he's a Junior, so I either didn't notice it in 2018-2019, or I did, and have forgotten getting annoyed back then.
