Re: 2020-21 Season *Officially* Delayed - 3 years ago
if anyone is missing live hockey, come to florida. The ECHL teams are playing and with fans: www.BladesTix.com/Mike According to our "governor" nothing going on here in Florida, nothing to worry about at all. business as usual people. UGH.by Rita - Hockey
Re: ECAC Schedule - 3 years ago
osorojo Thanks, Trotsky, but in Florida NOTHING - faith, honor, reason, even hubris is subservient to quick profit - AKA "commerce". The numbers and the environment speak for themselves. Osorojo - Florida has to be completely open and ready to welcome the snow birds in 15 days. if (when) there is a spike at the end of October / beginning of November they won't be able to blame that onby Rita - Hockey
Re: Rules Changes? - 3 years ago
Trotsky Caps-Isles 4-ot Easter Morning game the best Game 7 I've ever seen. God bless Pat LaFontaine. I remember that - bill clement and gary green on the tv call. I think bill clement was wearing the tie on his head by OT #4. I remember some very strange things.by Rita - Hockey

NHL playoffs off to a great start - OT HOCKEY. In the 5th OT for all the purists out there .by Rita - Hockey
Re: Alumni News: 2019-20 - vintage games - 3 years ago
surfing through the Direct TV guide and see that game 7 from the 1993 conference finals between the Toronto Maple Leafs and LA Kings is on the NHL Network. There is a Kent Manderville sighting. The Video is very much like some of the Cornell videos via ivy league network and the others before it - herky jerky. So not so weird to watch. 1993.... I have fond memories of that spring. ugarte scoop85 toddlose Rick Pitino signs with Iona. Yes, Iona. We can’t compete with Iona in regards to hiring a coach with Iona?!? He’s very damaged goods. Cornell wouldn’t hire him even if he could produce a national champion.Iona is also in New Rochelle and Pitino will live wherever he lived when he coached the Knicks. Iona is a better job for Pitino. Iona is a Catholic school, Pitino isby Rita - Other Sports
Re: Would this help recruiting? NCAA Permit Athletes to Profit - 4 years ago
What about the next Cornellian, who happens to play hockey, that wants to create a better version of the beer tap? Under the new NC$$ regs, would s/he be able to get the patent and profit and still keep their eligibility? That part of the NC$$ rules always bugged me. If an athlete has talent in another area (musician, cupcake baker) why couldn't they make money from that and still keep theirby Rita - Hockey
Re: Elf on a phone - 4 years ago
this is MY ELF, and she IS on my phone:. Eden the Elf is all HOUND. What kinds of hound depends on the DNA Test. Wisdom Panel says: 50% Beagle 25% Treeing walker coonhound 25% blue tick coonhound. Embark Panel (developed at Cornell) says: 35% Black and Tan Coonhound 24% Beagle 16% Treeing Walker Coonhound 15% Redbone Coonhound 10% American Foxhound Eden is very good at Scentby Rita - Hockey
Re: 50TH ANNIVERSARY OF LOVE STORY - 4 years ago
Trotsky Not on 2/14? Lame. (I'm getting a colonoscopy this 2/14. How's that for romantic?) I was surprised not on 2/14 as well - but since that is a friday night I'm not surprised. These special anniversary releases are limited to 1 or 2 night showing, usually on a Tuesday night. I was hoping that it would be one of the Turner Classic Movies 31 days of Oscars Movies (https://31days.tcm.comby Rita - John Spencer Is Dead
50TH ANNIVERSARY OF LOVE STORY - 4 years ago
Select movie theaters across the country will be doing a special screening on 2/9 and 2/12. I think most of us have another matinee event that we will be seeing on 2/9/2020. However, if you are free on 2/12, go here to see where it is showing in your neighborhood:by Rita - John Spencer Is Dead
Re: Colgate Weekend - 4 years ago
okay. This explains why my TUNE IN iphone app was playing sean hannity and not jason weinstein and the pre-game show. I'm bummed - i was so looking forward to cornell hockey tonight as I work late trying to figure out how long the company I work for and the factories that we use in china can deal with the extended closures and what the contingency plans will be. Stay safe everyone. Riby Rita - Hockey
Re: Cornell Orchards retail store - 4 years ago
David Harding Not a bar, or even a restaurant, but an iconic food establishment: Ithaca Voice reports that the Cornell Orchards retail store is closing after almost 70 years of operation. OH no. when I was a grad student, my lab was in BTI - across the street from the orchard. They had apples for sale through February. I used to go every friday or saturday to get apples for my weekend bakingby Rita - John Spencer Is Dead
Re: Opponent News 19-20 - 4 years ago
Trotsky Anybody remember when UVM left the ECAC to improve their program? yes. and I remember that line Perrin, Reid(?) and St. Louis. they were so damn quick. and they there was the hazing scandal.......by Rita - Hockey

Re: Cornell in the Movies - behind the scenes of Love Story - 5 years ago
The 3/30/2019 edition of NPR's Only a Game had a story about the filming of Love Story and the casting of Joe Bertagna and the Cleary Brothers. How many days until the Hahvahd game?by Rita - John Spencer Is Dead
Re: NCAA Day 2 (March 30) - 5 years ago
AIC's season comes to an end. They hung with DU until late in the second period and then a goal in the 3rd by a denver forward with tenacious forechecking. UMASS v. Denver in one semi-final matchup.by Rita - Hockey
Re: NCAA Day 2 (March 30) - 5 years ago
i hope the ESPN hockey "draft expert" is getting royalties every intermission when they replay the same interview. really lazy programming by espn. Wasn't there anyone available the could have done game analysis - game previews for the regaionals? ** Nitpick ** i'm not a fashionista by any stretch and I am darn lucky to have a job where I can wear jeans, t-shrits and sweatshirts.by Rita - Hockey
Re: Cornell - Northeastern - 5 years ago
Ditto. A very nice win and McGrath and the D came up HUUGE. I've been lurking on ELF and appreciate everyone's game comments and postings throughout the season. LGR!by Rita - Hockey
Re: Cornell - Northeastern - 5 years ago
I have basically listened to the games this season. Now sitting in a hotel room watching on my laptop. Defense looks very good. I'm glad we have found the back of NE's net. Dreaded 3 goal lead in Providence going into the third. Hope the D stays strong and we stay out of the damn box. Let's Go Red!by Rita - Hockey
Re: NCAA Day 1 (March 29) - 5 years ago
AIC taking down St. Cloud State is sweet. Still is in second place to Holy Cross taking out the Gophers in 2006. I  Tyler McGregor. Eden the Elf and I are at a nose work competition this weekend (I was pulling for the Manchester Regional). Hoping that the ESPN Plus archives the games and allows you to watch later. Let's Go Red!!by Rita - Hockey
Re: Women's FF - 5 years ago
I HATE GOPHERS! I was able to get the big10-to-go stream on loaded at work. You would have thought Clarkson and Cornell ADs and powers that be would have lobbied hard to have a set of the games flipped. I was really unfair the that Cornell Women had to play the same time as the men - and same with the Clarkson teams. Given that the womens final is on Sunday, how hard would it have beenby Rita - Hockey

Trotsky Jason's audio cuts out during the pregame. I joined with about 7 min left in the 2nd and it has been cutting in/out. Frustrating.by Rita - Hockey
Re: Bill Lazor- Coaching in NFL - 5 years ago
Bill Lazor was a guest on Friday 10/12 Moving the Chains on Sirius XM channel 88. If you have the siriusxm app, you can listen to the show on demand. Unfortunately, I only got snippets of the interview. I was very happy to see Lazor get more touches to WR Tyler Boyd - it certainly helped my fantasy football team.by Rita - Other Sports
Re: Cornell vs Laurentian (exhib) - 5 years ago
It is pre-season for WHCU. The audio feed just dropped. Did somebody trip over a cord and pull it out? Calendar says fall. There is football and now hockey galore. I'm craving comfort food, but it is still in the 90's and humid in SWFL. Happy Hockey Season everyone! Audio is back, but volume booster not working well. Sounds like Jason and Tony are whispering in a closet.by Rita - Hockey
Re: Alumni News 2018-19 - 5 years ago
Ryan, Joakim San Jose Barracuda (AHL)--10/12/17 San Jose Sharks (NHL) Ryan is getting some ice time tonight in the Sharks/Kings game. On the Sharks broadcast, the 2nd intermission featured Douglas "Crankshaft/Cranky" Murray as studio analyst. A bit stiff in his analyis (or delivery of it). I'm not sure if the talking head gig is permanent or if he will be a rotating analyst.by Rita - Hockey
Re: Cornell football 2018 - ivy league past glory - 5 years ago
For anyone that has Sirius XM radio, tonight's (7/16) edition of LATE HITS on the NFL Channel 88 (7 pm - 11 pm) is focusing on NFL players (past and present) from the IVY League. JC Tretter was on a 9 pm and Gil Brandt has a few stories about Ed Marinaro. The show replays around 3 am, and is available "on demand" for those of you with the App.by Rita - Other Sports

billhoward pfibiger George64 Cam Abbott now coaching in Sweden. And Chris is the GM. Could the lads be coach and athletic director? Were there openings. Makes me want to put on my Cam Abbott jersey. Thank you for the link and the trip down memory lane. How I loved the Abbott twins.by Rita - Hockey
Re: Cornell lacrosse 2018 - 5 years ago
I saw a good part of the first half and then the final (nail biting) 12 minutes. WOW. great defense in the last 90 seconds or so. I do not understand all the nuances, but yes, getting the guy with the ball down on the ground for the last 4-5 seconds is the way to go. I looked to me like the syracuse player had his arm hooked around the D's pole so that the Cornell D could not get his stick freeby Rita - Other Sports
Re: Women's Team 2017-18 - 6 years ago
It was a toss-up as to whether to post here or in the "some history" thread. After listening to the men comeback v. Yale, I checked out this week's episode of ONLY A GAME. The lead story was about the origins of the Cornell and Boston College Women's hockey teams and the role that the Baker Sisters from Lansing NY played in starting the teams in the early 70's.
