Re: [Lax (W)] Beating Syracuse again - 22 years ago
Any result to be found on the Duke/Georgetown game?by Jordan 04 - Hockey
Re: 6th Seed - 22 years ago
It would have been real nice to get put in the North, and be able to take the 15 minute ride out to Hofstra to see the team (if they win in the first round, obviously). Oh well. Maybe they'll get all the way to the championship rounds for a ride to Rutgers. Go Red!by Jordan 04 - Hockey
Re: NCAA Tournament Expansion - 22 years ago
FYI.... Numerous sources (including Canada's TSN, and I certainly believe them when it comes to hockey) have the Rangers payroll this year as having topped $70 million. Certainly higher than a low-balled $57.3 M.by Jordan 04 - Hockey
Re: Laxing in the Rain - 22 years ago
From my perspective the biggest difference in the game was the two goalies - Justin was excellent. 'Cuse had a goalie?by Jordan 04 - Hockey
Re: More ESPN genius - 22 years ago
Jeremy Schapp should also be mentioned, he's liekly one of the top "reporters" in terms of getting to the meat of the story. IMHO, Jeremy Schapp is unbearable. And not that good, either. And it goes well beyond the highly irritating, "Jeremy Schapp.....EEEEEEEEEEEEEEE, S, PEEEEEEEE, N" out line.by Jordan 04 - Hockey
Re: Pair of Frozen Four tix available - 22 years ago
Depends where you are, obviously. At the Garden these days, the cheapies probably go for what? $30? And around $100 or so down low? But those are just guesses. But you can catch a playoff team over in Uniondale for $14-$85. Heck, I even was able to catch a bunch for $9 over winter break with student discount. (So glad somebody brought up the NHL. Good segwe to get in a nice cheap shby Jordan 04 - Hockey
Re: SCSU was screwed - 22 years ago
Yeah, I brought up the point about the rule, and how it was changed a couple years back in the NHL (at the same time as the crease shortening, IIRC). The call I guess had to be made, but the crease violation had no bearing on the goal. The puck came from the near post, and the creast violation was at the far post, where no players were (except the violator).by Jordan 04 - Hockey
Re: Western Games - 22 years ago
I just happened to check the YES schedule to see what time Mike and the Dog were on, and their schedule from their site reads: "NCAA Hockey - First Round 8:00 PM" So it looks like they will be showing some of the hockey.by Jordan 04 - Hockey
Re: YES Network carrying games! - 22 years ago
Just to follow up, the YES network is now on in Ithaca. May God save us allby Jordan 04 - Hockey
Re: YES Network carrying games! - 22 years ago
Um... Um...? Ok, hesitantly I'll bite. SportsRadio 660, WFAN's drive-time talk show hosts. As affectionately nicknamed by Don Imus. They are now going to be simulcast on the YES network.by Jordan 04 - Hockey
Re: YES Network carrying games! - 22 years ago
I spoke with a TWC representative today, and he said they were beginning to carry the YES network tomorrow. Although their website does say it begins the 26th. Either way, it should be interesting to see Fatso and Fruitloops on TV. Unfortunately, the Cornell game has to be shown on yet another extension of the Evil Empireby Jordan 04 - Hockey
Re: Bring on RPI - 22 years ago
Yep. The same things concern me. They're a hot team, Marsters played well last night it seems, they had a comeback victory, revenge factor against us. But the "beating a team 3 times" is not what worries me. Seems like the only thing working for us right now is last line changeby Jordan 04 - Hockey
Re: Bring on RPI - 22 years ago
I'd much rather be playing Dartmouth. It is VERY hard to beat a team three times in one year. Hopefully RPI will be emotionally drained after this game. Cornell has got to come out strong in the beginning.... Uh-oh. It's the name faulty argument I heard all week a couple years back when it came time for the Giants-Eagles playoff game. We don't have to beat RPI 3 times. We have to beat them oby Jordan 04 - Hockey
Play-In Game - 22 years ago
Is tonight's PIG going to be broadcast (radio) in Ithaca or over the net? Thanks for any info.by Jordan 04 - Hockey

Re: Sarah Hughes - 22 years ago
More on the parade (led by the Great Neck South "let's bring the symphonic band outside and have them walk while they play" marching band) if you're interested.... I'm told there were 5-10x as many people there than make it to the annual memorial day parade. Pretty impressive.by Jordan 04 - Hockey
Re: the broadcast of the game today... - 22 years ago
I got very similar problems. We thought it might be tracking because our VCR didn't have manual tracking. But I guess it was the broadcast.by Jordan 04 - Hockey
Re: Yale-Cornell Part II - 22 years ago
Unbelievably crisp passing from the first two units. Although it was only a near goal, that sequence on a PP in the second period (from the first unit) where they nearly scored with all 5 guys touching the puck in very quick sequence was pretty sweet.by Jordan 04 - Hockey
Re: Yale v. Cornell - 3/8/02 - 22 years ago
and use our huge size advantage. It took a while to show the fruits of the labor, but they definitely did this tonight. As usually, winning puck after puck out of the corner, and putting a pretty decent number of big hits on Yale. Seemed like every big hit was delivered by us....I don't recall any of our guys going down to the ice due to a check.by Jordan 04 - Hockey
Re: It just HAD to be him, didn - 22 years ago
C'mon folks. Let's admit it. There is no SI jinx.by Jordan 04 - Hockey
Re: PSA: Do not climb over seemless glass - 22 years ago
There was definitely an announcement of some sort last year. That I remember pretty well. They pretty much said, don't go over the glass, we'll have the zamboni door open or the door by the benches.by Jordan 04 - Hockey
Re: At what point... - 22 years ago
John and Jordan say that two goalies is harder to prepare for than one. Sounds reasonable but I'm looking for more details on how much so and why. To be fair to myself, I didn't exactly give a ringing endorsement for the troubles of preparing for 2 goalies. Just stated the obvious that preparing for 2 is more than 1by Jordan 04 - Hockey
Re: Fulton's Folly - 22 years ago
I too, wondered about the differences in the appearance of the quotes. However, I thought that because there were only 2 of them (maybe if you find more variations in other places I'll believe otherwise) that maybe they were actually 2 separate quotes in the same session with the media. Because athletes do that all the time. Say the same things over and over and over in press conferences. I dby Jordan 04 - Hockey
Re: At what point... - 22 years ago
On a different note (though related to screcy I guess), would Yale's preparation vary significantly depending on whether they thought Underhill or LeNeveu would be playing? I wouldn't image a "significant" difference, but obviously, 2 goalies to prepare for is still more than 1.by Jordan 04 - Hockey
Re: Underhill - 22 years ago
The Sun today again referred to him taking a shot (off the leg, they said) during warmups. But I think it's clear that if you saw Underhill on Friday night, that they're trying to hide something with his back. And that's probably why that post was deleted. BTW, that brings up an interesting issue. If Schafer wants it out there that he just had a banged up leg, should this forum be used to staby Jordan 04 - Hockey
Re: Hughes salute - 22 years ago
I'd hardly call our collection a "marching band" More of a "let's take the symphonic band outside and have them walk" band.by Jordan 04 - Hockey
Re: Hughes salute - 22 years ago
And speaking of tributes to her, there's going to be a parade down good 'ole Middle Neck Road on Sunday....starting up at the train station and heading down to Parkwood, where she grew up skating. Although I've also read that actually her first lesson was at Iceland in NHPby Jordan 04 - Hockey
