Discussions about sports other than hockey
Re: CU @ Colgate 2/8/14 - 10 years ago
Wasn't there a lengthy discussion a few months ago about the merits of plowing over the league, vs. finishing 3rd or 4th in a strong, nationally-ranked conference? IIRC, most argued that the latter was to the benefit of the team, and a preferred path to, and through, the post-season. Well, it seems that's squarely where we are with the '13-'14 squad. We shall see how it ends.by Jordan 04 - Hockey

Josh '99 BMac Does anyone know if our players' families tend to go to Estero? I have to wonder whether the situation is very different for Maine because their players are close enough to drive home for the holidays, whereas ours are from all over and their families come to Florida instead. Check out Maine's roster: Versus ours: Thread drift: Maine has a player from Sweden named Bill Norby Jordan 04 - Hockey
Re: Alumni in the NFL - 10 years ago
We're officially going full-nit now, but the Ivy League Sports story says "53-man active roster". Only 46 of the 53 suit up on game day. It's not terribly easy to find, but numerous references list him as one of the 7 inactive.by Jordan 04 - Other Sports
Re: Alumni in the NFL - 10 years ago
billhoward Game day roster shows Walters suited up. He wears #19 Pretty sure I saw a couple references to him being inactive. Either way, Congratulations to him.by Jordan 04 - Other Sports
Re: Football finale Cornell at Penn - C35-21 Q4 - 10 years ago
Ken711 ugarte billhoward ugarteThis is so insanely wrong. With Cornell on 3rd and 7 let alone 3rd and 17, that's running a prevent offense. Penn had just shown it could march down field at will. It was worth the shot to get the first down and keep Penn from regaining the offense. Skip to lacrosse: You shouldn't play a stall offense with a small lead. You absolutely should take an open net shoby Jordan 04 - Other Sports

So a goal on a delayed penalty no longer wipes out the penalty. In keeping with that spirit, why doesn't a team get a PP after a penalty shot?by Jordan 04 - Hockey

Re: Red Hot Hockey - post-game - 10 years ago
ebilmes Also, am I the only one confused as to why Iles stayed on the ice for the start of the final powerplay? With 6x4, would we really have been so concerned about BU gaining possession and skating it out for an ENG? It wasn't like Iles went directly to the bench once we had possession; he stayed on for :40 of that powerplay. If the linesman hadn't blown the icing call against BU that forced Iby Jordan 04 - Hockey
Re: 11/9 Union - 10 years ago
This whole argument is a bit silly, as it would appear we don't really have a choice anymore. Things have changed, at least in the short- to medium- term, and Cornell isn't going to run roughshod over the league each year. We're going to have to compete with a number of very teams in order to get to, and succeed in, the NCAA's. That said, it seems crazy to me to not prefer a team that barreby Jordan 04 - Hockey

Kyle Rose Josh '99 RichH Jerseygirl Ehhhhhhhhhhh, I wouldn't call recruiting a 6'5"/233 goaltender wedging a fat kid in net (well, I would, if I were employing a dry sense of humor I guess?). Fine, let's talk light. If you think Anas is light at 150 — and he could be the lightest to actually play Division I this season — Pecknold says you should have seen him when he recruited him as aby Jordan 04 - Hockey
