Josh '99GoBrunoArguably the best player ever to suit up for Bruno, and, dare I say, the best Ivy goaltender of all time not named Dryden. AJF Brown '01 ILR '08You can say what you like, but I believe you'll encounter opposition (on this board in particular) who will contend that Danis wasn't even the best Ivy goaltender playing during his time at Brown. I, however, will offer that the teby Liz '05 - Hockey
Re: Rationalization for a wounded fanbase - 17 years ago
KeithKTrotskyI had bronichitis that year. I'm still glad I went -- this rationalization isn't working for me. As someone who dearly misses 10 inch snow storms I wish I had a reason to be in Albany this weekend. (Not that I had tickets mind you, but still...) You forget that you could walk up and get tickets, then go anywhere in the rink with very little "Excuse me, but I was hoping to sby Liz '05 - Hockey

sah67*Dave Shippel - Greg Hornby Award, Scrappiness and Effort: Tyler Mugford. Tyler isn't huge, but man does he hit, both hard and often. He defines "finish your checks", dove (literally most of the time) after every loose puck, and saved Scrivens's and Davenport's ass numerous times. And although he may pick up a few more penalties than necessary, his defense of his teammates botby Liz '05 - Hockey

WillRitaI'll leave it to others to comment on "siouxnami's" slamming of the Cornell hockey program. I'm just amused that one fan felt so insecure about NoDak's academics that he had to quote articles stating how good the school is in certain areas. Then again, maybe I should just be glad that someone out west remembers that, in the term "college hockey", "college"by Liz '05 - Hockey

jtwcornell91And I guess "borrowing" the plane to go to Cambridge for a few hours is right out. Maybe I could steal the government credit card while I'm at it...we'd need to stop at least twice to refuel. In each direction. Hmmm...this plan sounds better and better the closer to gametime it gets.by Liz '05 - Hockey

Ben Rocky 04RichH In 14, you'll have a good shot at exchanging taunts with Evan Finchester Snood IV, and the rest of the Harvard student section, like that weird painted concave-chested fellow with the hockey helmet, and the 5 'roid-raged football players looking to start fisticuffs. Instead of fisticuffs, wouldn't they rather race their daddy's yacht against my daddy's yacht at the cape this sby Liz '05 - Hockey
Re: Lynah East and/or Dartmouth Roll Call - 17 years ago
KeithKmhaLiz '05Ironic, considering I'm flying eight times this week (just never further than western Lousiana or the Atlantic coast of Florida). Ah, but the frequent flier miles from those eight trips should get you to your next hockey weekend!Hmm. I don't think Liz gets FF miles for most of the flying she does, IIRC. Different kind of flying... I don't. My flights this week are mostly aby Liz '05 - Hockey
Re: Eating @ Dartmouth - 17 years ago
Will As with most restaurants, party size probably makes a big difference. I seem to recall our group being somewhat smaller than Ben's. We were also there earlier, probably before the real dinner rush began. I was in Ben's group. The only reason we got seated at all was because they thought we were a different group of 9(ish). We ended up getting takeout boxes and checks with our meals, thby Liz '05 - Hockey

Jacob '06A-19that loud guy with the hairHey everyone, I won't be able to make it to Dartmouth on Friday, but I'm really psyched for Hahvahd on Saturday. Re: Remaining Goals for Basketball This Year - 17 years ago
So, what're the odds that we'll win the Ivy Championship with each of those scenarios? By the way, Cornell Fan, thanks for all the basketball info. I don't respond to it often, but I enjoy reading it.by Liz '05 - Other Sports

Jacob '06I unfortunately can't afford to fly in from pasadena . Maybe next year Me either, but from Florida. Ironic, considering I'm flying eight times this week (just never further than western Lousiana or the Atlantic coast of Florida). Re: Princeton 1 at Cornell 6 (2nd) - 17 years ago
Al DeFlorio6 goals on 13 shots That's ridiculous. I'll certainly take it, since we should get many more shots (and likely goals) in the next half a game.by Liz '05 - Hockey
Re: Cornell 6 at RPI 1 post game - 17 years ago
cth95ursusminorJust curious, how does the quality of the broadcast that RPI produced compare to Cornell's? The quality was ok for a free feed, but definitely more grainy than the Cornell CSTV feed. It looked a little like an artsy view or the beginning of a fade-out, except that it stayed the same. I couldn't really see the numbers or colors well. I didn't realize I could access your feed uby Liz '05 - Hockey
Re: Cornell 3 at 3 Union 2/9/07 postgame - 17 years ago
What exactly happened to Mitch? All I got from the game thread was something about a Union player hitting him and the net being knocked over/off (which may or may not have been related to Mitch's injury). On a side note, Mitch is now Cornell's leading goal scorer for 2006-7, at least according to this page:by Liz '05 - Hockey
Re: SLU-Cornell (now game thread) SLU 0-CU 1 (1st intermission) - 17 years ago
Al DeFlorioWell, we just went from a likely 2-0 to 1-1. How did Gallagher not put that in? By not lifting the puck. It's pretty much the only mistake he made on that penalty shot. He had the goalie splayed out along the goal line, sliding towards the right side of the net, with the top of the net open. Goalie's glove knocked away the puck on the ice (or very low).by Liz '05 - Hockey

Gallagher gets a chance on a penalty shot... no luck.by Liz '05 - Hockey
Re: SLU-Cornell pre-game - 17 years ago
Cornell getting a lot of chances, but making a few defensive mistakes too. I'd say the game is pretty even, with the edge to Cornell. Cornell on the pk again.by Liz '05 - Hockey

Rich S But the Wisco series you referred to was memorable for other reasons. It was the last varsity hockey played in Clarkson/Walker Arena and capped an undefeated home season (one tie) for Tech. It also enraged Coach Sauer so much that in the parking lot next to the Wisco bus, he uttered the notable words to the effect of 'This f'in place should be torched.
