Re: Any video for Yale game? - 15 years ago
ACMPBP guy is actually pretty good, as far as knowing the game. Color guy is biased and has no clue, but at least some of the time they recognize that there are actually two teams on the ice. You mean like when he called the band obnoxious?by oceanst41 - Hockey
Re: Cornell 0 at Yale 1 (1st period) - 15 years ago
CowbellGuyGot away with nothing. He pulled up and just gave the guy a light shove. I'm not sure it even warranted a minor, but if you're listening to the Yale homers, you'd think he took his head off. Also, nice acting. Arcobello didn't even miss a shift. I had the same thought. Looked more like he rode him off the puck with his shoulder than drove him headfirst into the boards.by oceanst41 - Hockey
Re: Alumna in the Stands - February 2009 - 15 years ago
jkahnThere's a young lady in a red Cornell sweatshirt (or sweater) seated along the glass in the section just to the players' right of the Bruins' bench tonight - there to show her support for Byron. And cheer for him after his 4th NHL goal. Edit: Also got his first time on the PK tonight as far as I know. Julien is giving him more and more responsibility.by oceanst41 - Hockey
Re: Alumni in the Pros - February 2009 - 15 years ago
jkahnWith just over a minute left, the crowd was chanting "We want Bitz" so he'd have a final chance for a hat trick. He did come on as they were chanting, but settled for a two goal game. It was a pretty loud chant too, and the crowd roared in response when he jumped over the boards. I saw him even getting a little powerplay time late. Jack and Brick were pretty much singing his praby oceanst41 - Hockey

lynah80Barlow tackles a Harvard player. 2 mins. Dangerous play from Barlow, I don't like that at all. Edit: and he pays for it 2-1 Harvardby oceanst41 - Hockey
Re: Cornell 0 Harvard 0 (pregame) - 15 years ago
ugartePP killed and the 1st period ends. Impressive last PP but they couldn't cash in. Barlow almost had one but the Harvard sieve got lucky. Barlow made it easy for him by hitting him right in the glove.by oceanst41 - Hockey
Re: Alumni in the Pros - February 2009 - 15 years ago
RitacbuckserThe Canadiens are celebrating their 100th anniversary by wearing its former uniforms. Keep in mind that today's 96-year-old sweater preceded the use of uniform numbers on players' backs. Also, I'm sure these barbershop sweaters looked better when made of wool than with modern materials. Altitude is doing the Av v. Habs game in "Flashback Coverage", i.e. black and white.by oceanst41 - Hockey

RatushnyFanI didn't see all of the Devils/Bruins game, but Bitz looked strong! I haven't seen him play in a while, he looked quicker than he did in college and he still towers over almost everyone. He was really hustling and I see from the box score that he played over 13 minutes. Nice job. He had another very solid game, with a couple nice chances and great work along the boards. Re: Cornell-Princeton Post-game - 15 years ago
RichHKnow what this felt like to me? Has anyone ever played the EA Sports NHL video games? You know when you're playing a season at a level too easy for your skill and you go on some ridiculous winning streak? And then the AI engine basically picks some game where YOU ARE NOT GOING TO WIN and all of a sudden whatever team you're playing turns into the '84 Oilers and they score 4 goals in the lby oceanst41 - Hockey

TrotskyREDcast showing a really bizarre effect on the scoreboard. Sets of lights just fade in and out. It must be a phase thing -- it isn't happening in reality. One of our engineers will explain it. Edit: jinx. Did anyone else get motion sickness from the camera work during that game, or was it just me? The third especially it seemed like they were having trouble following the puck.by oceanst41 - Hockey
Re: Cornell 1 Princeton 2 (3rd period) - 15 years ago
scoop85Princeton picked-up their game in the last 10 minutes, and it translated into heartbreak for the Red. About the 8 min mark I could see Princeton starting to put the pressure on and I was hoping the team was ready to respond to it. They were not. Full fledged stomach punch loss right there.by oceanst41 - Hockey
Re: Alumni in the Pros - February 2009 - 15 years ago
Byron Bitz scores his first NHL goal. He came in hard on the forecheck and caused a turnover. Mark Stuart's shot hit the crossbar and came straight down, and Bitz shoveled it in from there.by oceanst41 - Hockey
Re: Cornell-Clarkson Postgame Thread - 15 years ago
Rich SSorry for the confusion there. My bad. What I meant was that the exchanges between the bands in 2006 playoffs and on my prior vist, (perhaps 2003?) were less in number and in "violation" of the rules than in '97 and '99. In the playoff game I attended in '06, the stuff directed at spectators in Section O and to a lesser degree the band was clearly audible and visible. Andby oceanst41 - Hockey
Re: Alumni in the Pros - February 2009 - 15 years ago
Jeff Hopkins '82Bitz looked like Bitz to me. Hard to get off the puck behind the net, good possession in the corners, and getting his chances. The one he got stoned on, he put right into Biron's gut, but he was pretty low in the slot. The Flyers' TV announcers were rather impressed for how well he was playing for someone only in the league for 11 games. And I missed the first period, butby oceanst41 - Hockey
Re: Alumni in the Pros - February 2009 - 15 years ago
ugarteAccording to a B's fan friend of mine, Bitz still lacks the finishing touch and has missed the net a few times on excellent chances - but he loves Bitz's grit. Totally agree. He's had about three golden chances, with timely saves and iron thwarting him. Then again Krejci couldn't score a goal to save his life last year, now he has 19 and is playing at a point per game pace. Bitz's job isnby oceanst41 - Hockey
Re: Cornell-Clarkson Postgame Thread - 15 years ago
martyRich, When did they let you out? I was hoping you wouldn't stay away for the entire season. Well Clarkson is 4-1-1 in their last six after starting 3-13-4, coinciding nicely with a 1-2-1 speed bump for Cornell. But I might be considered to too thin skinned if I mention that as a reason for him to try and stir the pot. Though I would like some clarification on what rules the band brby oceanst41 - Hockey
Re: Alumni in the Pros - February 2009 - 15 years ago
CUDrew0105Bitz continues to play well with several good shifts tonight and seems to be developing good chemistry with Thorton and Yelle. He had 2 excellent attempts to pot his first NHL goal but was stoned point blank on the first and hit iron on the second on a partial 2 on 1 break. Julien seems to be rewarding him with slightly more playing time each game so it looks like he may stick on theby oceanst41 - Hockey
Re: Important message to ice hockey ticket holders - Reason for the crackdown - 15 years ago
I mean if it happened during play, all the students would've been standing. Meaning that it only would've been visible if it happened in the first row or along the aisle. Otherwise, those standing up would've shielded the offenders from view, and in that case the section N usher has x-ray vision and the students are doomed. They won't even be able to cup their mouths and swear anymore.by oceanst41 - Hockey

Re: Scrivens for Hobey - vote @ www.hobeybaker.com - 15 years ago
Scrivens just mentioned on ESPNU during the Maine/UMass intermission on their "Hobey Baker Tracker." "Some big names on their," said the color guy, who apparently didn't see the box score from Friday's SLU game. Although, I am pretty impressed that 4 GA in half a game inflates his average all the way to 1.41!by oceanst41 - Hockey
Re: Alumni in the Pros - February 2009 - 15 years ago
Two great games in a row for Bitz. His work along with Thornton and Yelle in the last two have really given the Bruins some momentum when they needed it. On the flip side, with 5 seconds left O'Byrne takes a run at Kobasew with an elbow to the head, trying to drive him through the glass. No need for that kind of stuff.by oceanst41 - Hockey
