Re: ECAC's moving to Atlantic City in 2011 - 14 years ago
Interesting move to say the least. I'm very curious to see how this all plays out. Albany was struggling to draw even as a centralized location relative to the league. Was this due to Albany itself, the rink, etc? Now they have made a move to a city with more to offer outside of the games, but what does the added inconvenience of travel time (driving) for most fans do the crowds? Re: CHN Picks Cornell as Preseason #4 - 14 years ago
I feel even better now that ness180 said Cornell will be "moderately okay" in the comments though. In all seriousness though, this is a big opportunity for Cornell. It appears like they will get the preseason national attention and have a schedule to go out and try to back it up as well.by oceanst41 - Hockey

Rita Molson to buy Habs. So does anyone else think that maybe Matt Mo(u)lson should be the poster child for this new business endeavor? No, thank you. I really enjoyed watching him during my four years, and I don't want those memories tainted by le bleu, blanc et rouge.by oceanst41 - Hockey

rediceoceanst41 At the same time he did kind of take a dump on college hockey there. I prefer to think that he took a dump on Harvard. That's what is making it so difficult to not like the kid.by oceanst41 - Hockey
Re: ECACHL players in NHL Draft - 14 years ago
oceanst41I would like to thank Montreal for making Louis that much more unlikeable. I'm going to enjoy watching Cornell soften him up along the boards. Unlikeable may have been the wrong word. "Well I hope to be there a year, or two, maximum, and hopefully make the jump to the NHL." Maybe Louis isn't such a bad kid. At the same time he did kind of take a dump on college hocby oceanst41 - Hockey

ursusminorSince a link to an article about D'Amigo was posted, here's one about Brandon Pirri, his probable linemate next season, from the NHL site . A tremendous amount of additional material has been posted by me and others on these two and the other 2009 and RPI future recruits on USCHO and on the earlier threads linked in the first post there. They didn't have to teach him how not to play defense. Re: Cornell-Syracuse Postgame - 14 years ago
scoop85Al DeFlorioKillerI still can't bring myself to watch the recording I made of the game. For the last three days, I keep seeing Seibald with the ball right in front of us (we were in section 101) starting that clear. I haven't been able to watch either. We were sitting in 133, right where Moyer was dancing around looking for somebody open before Nims checked the ball out of his stick. Nobby oceanst41 - Other Sports
Re: Cornell-Syracuse Postgame - 14 years ago
Tom LentoWhatever you do as a fan, don't blame Moyer for the loss due to that final botched clear. Yes, it was a terrible mental mistake, but he wasn't the only one who failed there. Someone with a short stick had to be helping him out. I wanted to second this. My earlier comment wasn't meant to single anyone out. As a team, Cornell needed to get that ball over the line in some fashion and theyby oceanst41 - Other Sports
Re: Cornell-Syracuse Postgame - 14 years ago
Physical fatigue led to mental mistakes. That ball has to get over the midfield line with 15 seconds left, whether in a Cornell stick or in the air. That sucked.by oceanst41 - Other Sports

Bitz was just great. Congrats to him for his first playoff goal. In other news, I hate Colin Campbell with a passion.by oceanst41 - Hockey

Claude Julien has announced that the Bruins will have the same line up for game 7. Heckuva a job by Bitz to earn his way into the line up this late in the season.by oceanst41 - Hockey
Re: Alumni in the Pros - May 2009 - 15 years ago
ftyuvNo doubt about it -- he's playing amazingly. So far (at the 2nd intermission) he looks like he deserves a star. He's been great the last two games on that line. He's doing all the dirty work necessary to get Ryder and Krejci open.by oceanst41 - Hockey
Re: Alumni in the Pros - May 2009 - 15 years ago
And Bitz draws a penalty in the final minute of the second with more great work along the boards.by oceanst41 - Hockey
Re: Alumni in the Pros - May 2009 - 15 years ago
And on what I count as his second shift, guess who parks in front of Cam Ward to screen him on Montador's goal. Bitzby oceanst41 - Hockey
Re: Alumni in the Pros - May 2009 - 15 years ago
He's had a great game so far. He has put some life into Ryder and Krejci (who are buzzing around Carolina's zone tonight), and is doing all the dirty work necessary to get them open and put a body in front of Ward. Now Carolina has another line to defend besides the Savard-Kessel-Lucic line.by oceanst41 - Hockey
Re: Alumni in the Pros - May 2009 - 15 years ago
Bitz back in the lineup for game 5, replacing Blake Wheeler. Wheeler is an unhealthy, healthy scratch I believe. He did take a shot off his foot in game 3, but has played so poorly that I don't think it was a tough decision to give Bitz the nod.by oceanst41 - Hockey
Re: Alumni in the Pros - May 2009 - 15 years ago
Well the good news was that Bitz played well enough to be promoted to the 3rd line for the final period, the bad news for Bruins fans was that Wheeler and the rest of the line up played like , so much so that Bitz needed to be promoted to shake things up.by oceanst41 - Hockey
Re: Alumni in the Pros - May 2009 - 15 years ago
Shawn Thornton is a late scratch, and Bitz will be in the line up against the Canes tonight.by oceanst41 - Hockey
Re: Alumni in the Pros - April 2009 - 15 years ago
The Big Show on WEEI in Boston has a caller and a couple hosts raving about Bitz on the 4th line. The idea being that Bitz is a better "fit" on the 4th line, and actually makes that line better. Basically Bitz is adding more physicality while Wheeler's skill is being wasted a bit on the 4th line. The caller asked if Bitz might get the start over Wheeler in the next round, and the hoby oceanst41 - Hockey
Re: Alumni in the Pros - April 2009 - 15 years ago
KeithKBeeeejLuke 05If the Sharks win, Murray gets his name on the cup. If the B's win, Bitz only gets his name engraved if he appears in a Finals game if I recall cup naming rules correctly. Why's that? To have one's name engraved on the Stanley Cup certain requirements must be met. A player must have at least 41 games played with the club or one game played in the Stanley Cup Finals. ftyuvThe Lucic suspension could be a blessing in disguise. He's the loose cannon of the team, and I'm betting that with Montreal behind 0-2 and finally playing one at home, emotions are going to be high. I could see that game ending up with Lucic with a broken hand again. I agree, and of course we get to see Bitz in the lineup. I am hoping upon hope that he finds the back of the net tonighby oceanst41 - Hockey

RitaBitz is indeed penciled in the B's line-up for Monday night's game. Shuffling of the lines appears to be as oceanst41 predicted. More from the Boston Globe's Bruins blog. Re: Alumni in the Pros - April 2009 - 15 years ago
Well Lucic was handed out a match penalty near the end of the Bruins' game two. Per league rules, that's a suspension pending review. That would mean Bitz would likely get the call in game three in Montreal, especially now that Hunwick had his spleen removed yesterday. Now I don't feel the suspension should hold up after review. Lucic himself had just been elbowed/high sticked and was reactingby oceanst41 - Hockey

Rita Cheerleaders for a hockey discussion board? Hmm, I don't know. was about all O'Byrne was doing during the second period last night thanks to his roughing and misconduct. It was a great hockey game too. Plenty of good ol fashioned dislike and 9 goals. Bitz got a couple looks at the net, but his play of the game was a green light check on one of MTL's defenders who was having a litby oceanst41 - Hockey

Re: Alumni in the Pros - April 2009 - 15 years ago
Pretty poor form from O'Byrne again in a Bruins/Habs matchup. Last time he went head hunting on Chuck Kobasew during the final seconds of a Boston win, now he's throwing his shoulder into guys during timeouts and then turtling when they try to get in his face about it. Wait what am I saying, he fits in perfectly with the rest of the Canadiens.by oceanst41 - Hockey
