Re: Cornell 4 at Dartmouth 5 - 14 years ago
Germ Ummm....not being melodramtic, being realistic. Pairwise # 16 puts us right on the bubble. Yeah, sure, if we don't lose one of the next two, win our first series, AND win one in Albany we have an outside chance. Last year wasn't a lock until we pulled out the Princeton game. Too bad we've been backed into a corner (again) such that we have to at least make the semis or finals to have a chby CUontheslopes - Hockey
Re: Cornell 4 at Dartmouth 5 - 14 years ago
Germ Updated pairwise not posted yet (that I can find) but I'm guessing we'll go to 13-14++. When you take into account the auto bids from the lower conferences I think it's going to be an uphill battle. I guess if we make it to the ECAC finals like last year we have an outside shot...maybe. However, if we DO make it to the NCAAs I like our chances since we seem to own the first round. And ifby CUontheslopes - Hockey
Re: Cornell 4 at Dartmouth 5 - 14 years ago
Germ Total meltdown. How do we expect to go far in the EZAC tourney if we can't close out a game like this? I don't think we have a chance of making the ncaa tourney unless we win the ECAC. Meanwhile Yale was down 4-1 to Clarkson with 12 to go and finds a way to win. Let's not overreact too much here. We still have an excellent shot at making the tournament if we make it to Albany. wow this one could prove very costly - Dartmouth has had our number in Hanover, but this seems like another story...From what looked like a win, to a bad BU@MSG-esque tie, to an epic bad loss...by CUontheslopes - Hockey

Re: Student attendance off all sports, all colleges? - 14 years ago
I agree with your all your points. I particularly hate that the CU Athletic Dept is so stupid as to have hockey and basketball games at the same time so many weekends. Do what bigger colleges do - move one game up, one game back. Play hockey at 530 and basketball at 8 or some variation thereof. God forbid we we play a Sunday afternoon game when we could put our two biggest winter sports oppositeby CUontheslopes - Other Sports

Re: Latest Cornell football candidates - 14 years ago
dbilmes Lauren '06 Are there really people out there who would adjust their giving based on the success of the football team? (Other than, perhaps, football alumni who matriculate in these hypothetical boom times and had a better time on campus because they weren't deeply demoralized every Saturday?) That hawk has to be the dumbest mascot I have ever seen. It looks like a kindergarten art project gone wrong and it just waves its arms the whole game...super annoying and very mockable. Best cheer of the day: "You can't fly. You can't fly."by CUontheslopes - Other Sports

Pretty pricy - $54 and no student tickets...I'm not sure how many people MSG expects to draw...It's a shame they don't have half price student tickets. They're going to have a half full arena.by CUontheslopes - Other Sports

He deserves it. He played a great game. Amazing how much better he's gotten. Could've easily had a few more points tonight too if CU had done a better job of getting him the ball down the stretch.by CUontheslopes - Other Sports
Re: cornell basketball @ bucknell today streaming online free - 14 years ago
A wild game. Cornell wins in overtime 104-98 as Bucknell hits a long 3 at the buzzer. Bucknell shot the 3 ball just unconsciously in the 2nd half. Glad we pulled it out. Defense needs to tighten up. Nice offensive night, but can't let teams sneak back into games. The same urgency needs to be there up 11 or 12 as when tied. We seem to have a hard time putting teams we're up on 10, 12, 13 pts downby CUontheslopes - Other Sports

Peck has looked very strong. Looks like he will be a force to be reckoned with in the Ivy League these next 4 years. He took an alley-oop flatfooted and slammed it down with authority. He looks like a lot of the athletic guys Penn used to get, similar to Jabber or Jordan in his athleticism. Foote also has looked good.by CUontheslopes - Other Sports

ugarte TimV ugarte TimV Soooooo.....Is Knowles record better than the Princeton coach? I suspected not; that was my point. I thought your point was to give him a couple more seasons. Maybe we can get to the point where per game attendance falls below hockey. Or maybe even Wrestling. Well, I was making two points. The first being that I am sure he is on thin ice because a more successful coach jby CUontheslopes - Other Sports
Re: Phillipe Hudon - 14 years ago
For someone who doesn't follow junior hockey at all (beyond oh look this guy's big and coming to Cornell) can someone comment on how big of a "win" this is for us recruiting-wise? Is he a Riley Nash caliber pick up? A little lower? What round might he be taken in an NHL draft? Thanks. It's just hard to get perspective with all these various jr leagues.by CUontheslopes - Hockey

Re: Cornell 0 at Penn 34 football postgame, Cornell post-season - 14 years ago
Knowles is a great guy, but I think it's time for him to go. As pointed out by others, this is not a Donahue situation. Donahue's teams boosted their win total and Ivy win totals every year. The teams were clearly getting better (albeit slowly at times/slower than we might've wanted). Cornell football continues to get worse. I think it's time for a change at the top. Re: Quinnipiac 3 at Cornell 2 postgame - 14 years ago
This game doesn't bother me as much as it seems to have bothered a lot of you. It was clearly just not our night, but we fought back and made a game out of it even without our captain. Shows you how important Greening is though. Just a few notes: 2nd QU goal was a backbreaker and it was a bad goal to let in for Scrivens. Yes he was screened, but he got beat LOW, under his pad. Agreed. Incredibly heartening to know we can win even when Wittman has an off night. Watching the game on the video feed, we really had a very off night shooting. We could've run away with this game if we hit our open looks. I'm not sure what the final FG% is, but I can tell you we missed a TON of open looks from 3 and at least 7 or 8 from inside 10 ft. We'll need to tighten that up a little bitby CUontheslopes - Other Sports

Re: Alumni in the Pros - November 2009 - 14 years ago
jkahn Moulson scores at 1:02 of the first period, after the Caps scored at 8 seconds in. He's now leading the team in points. He's been quite a revelation for a team needed a boost. I don't think anyone (except perhaps the most optimistic CU fan) saw this coming. Good for him. It's great to see him succeed, even if he isn't a Ranger...by CUontheslopes - Hockey
