Re: Cornell 17 Hobart 4 Lax FINAL - 17 years ago
For those of you who were unable to be at the game, I thought you'd enjoy this nice finishing touch by the scoreboard operator following the game Friday night (sorry, could not figure out how to make it show up in the post, so it's just attached). This was up for quite a while. Photograph courtesy of and with permission from Heather Nichols. BTW,the team collectively saluted the fans as theyby peterg - Other Sports

Re: Princeton Sucks Shirt - 17 years ago
cth95This seemed like as good a thread as any to use for this post. I was catching the last day of skiing at Sugarbush today and saw a guy with a Princeton sweatshirt. When I looked again I realized under Princeton the word "Sucks" was written clearly with a Sharpie. I asked what school he went to and he said "Cornell". He is on the track team and Princeton is their bigby peterg - Other Sports
Re: M Lax Results 5/4-5/6 - 17 years ago
DeltaOne81I never said they didn't deserve it. I'm just looking objectively at the criteria, and there's no doubt objectively that Princeton is on the bubble. Probably on the 'in'-side of the bubble, but bubble nonetheless. But considering that, a) its Princeton, b) its Tierney, c) Princeton is hosting, and d) Tierney is on the selection committee, I fully expect to see Princeton there. But seby peterg - Other Sports
Re: Swami's seeding prediction - 17 years ago
scoop85Not only that, but I keep coming back to our H2H win on their field, which has to mean something in the grand scheme of things; to hold otherwise is simply illogical. It's the NCAA. You want logic?by peterg - Other Sports

Re: UMass 9, Syracuse 7 (F) - no NCAAs for Syracuse - 17 years ago
Al DeFlorioI think such feelings can also be a reaction to the arrogance of fans of the team(s) involved. Can be nice to see them shut up for a change. Or if they don't shut up, it can be nice/interesting to tune in and see how they react to their team when it loses. Syracues Lacrosse Forumby peterg - Other Sports

Re: Swami is a p***y - 17 years ago
Those numbers may be right. Albany plays outdoors which always holds the crowds down in February and March. In addition, according to all the talk on the Laxpower forum, they have a new field but no seating, so you really have to want to see the game to go. At SU, on the other hand, there's endless seating, it's always dry and 70 degrees and, of course, there's a long-standing fan base among aby peterg - Other Sports
Re: ...Milo... - 17 years ago
lhayesAl DeFlorio Bill Murray played soccer back in the early 70s, IIRC. Dryden played shortstop for awhile. Players didn't train year-round like they do today. Do I remember correctly that Brock Tredway (mid-late 70s) played soccer too? and was All-Ivy. When Ned coached both hockey and lacrosse, a lot of hockey players played both sports.by peterg - Hockey

Re: Lax coaches' poll - 3/5/07 - 17 years ago
Al DeFlorioWhile I'll admit to having cheered for Loyola throughout that game last night, I really would have preferred going into the game a week from Tuesday with Duke undefeated and number one. They'll be very hungry now, and in no way complacent. Wish it would be videocast. The get to take it out on North Carolina, first, though, next Saturday.by peterg - Other Sports

Re: Men's Indoor Track Takes IC4As - 17 years ago
Thought this deserved a little more note. The link alone might not be enough to get peoples' attention. This is quite an accomplishment. It's the first time in Cornell has won the IC4A in 77 years (as in the last time this happened was 1930)!! This championship is held among 70 D-1 teams. Also, the CU women came in 5th in a field of 70 D-1 teams.by peterg - Other Sports

Re: ECAC playoffs - Cornell 4th, first round bye - 17 years ago
From the CU hockey website prior to the final from Q. Cornell will now await the final score of the Clarkson-Quinnipiac matchup on Saturday night. A win by the Knights would secure a first-round bye for the Big Red, while a Quinnipiac win or tie would leave Cornell as the fifth seed, playing a home series next weekend against Union, which finishes the league regular season in 12th place. Re: Clarkson at Cornell postgame - 17 years ago
redhair34dtoYeah, I was talking hockey with one of the ushers during warmups, and he said he loves how Cornell "puts" the opposite band against the glass. Since a number of people have commented about this I thought I'd throw my two cents in. I can think of two possible explanations for why the the opposing bands have been pushed down to the glass this year. When the band stands iby peterg - Hockey

Re: Cornell brother and sister recruits - 17 years ago
TrotskyBeeeejursusminorSo Cornell has now branched out from twins to recruiting whole families (except for the first one who got away ). Dan, Greg & Kim Ratushny scoff at your use of the word "now." Given that Kim then married Kent Manderville, Cornell hockey has gone from recruiting families to starting them. BTW, do they have any forwards, er, children yet? Ethan and Eby peterg - Hockey
