We need to take one of two from the winner of today's Penn-Princeton game. Anyone know how home/away works in this tournament? Up until now I assume the higher seed was the home team. Re: Cornell Baseball 2024 - 2 days ago
ugarte nyc94 That said, hard to believe they couldn't fix a dirt mound overnight. i don't think the problem was fixing the dirt. it sounds like something got under the turf and made the surface uneven/dangerous for the pitcher. the players probably pointed out out. The few things I read online said the mound was turf. I was just speculating because Al said it looked like dirt in other picturesby nyc94 - Other Sports

Al DeFlorio Looks like dirt in pics: It does look like dirt. And Columbia's page for the stadium says it is. "The surface is a hybrid fiber, rubber and sand infill blend designed to have a more consistent feel. It covers both the infield and outfield, with the only dirt covering the mound and home plate." That said, hard to believe they couldn't fix a dirt mound overnight. On tby nyc94 - Other Sports

Trotsky Did they get atrocious weather or was this an Alameda Coliseum "septic tanks back up onto field" thing? Apparently the mound is artificial turf and that's where the problem is. I didn't know that was a thing. Iceberg dbilmes Cornell can clinch the Ivy title with a sweep this weekend. I was wondering about this but that makes sense given that most games have been played and the Ivy teams outside of Cornell haven't been very great Ivy standings edit: Cornell win over Brown eliminates everyone except Yale. Cornell up 19-9 in points. Yale still has four Ivy League games remaining.by nyc94 - Hockey

"This marks just the fifth time in Ivy League men’s basketball history that two 6-0 or better teams will square off. The most recent occurrence was on Feb. 15, 2003 when Penn (6-0) and Brown (7-0) clashed at The Palestra. Penn won that contest 73-66."by nyc94 - Other Sports

Trotsky How do they choose the ILT location? Does it rotate? Yes but they have already deviated from the preannounced schedule. This year was supposed to be Brown but will be at Columbia. Cornell is supposed to host in 2025. “The future of the rotation remains under continuous evaluation.”by nyc94 - Other Sports

mike1960 nyc94 Surprised that as bad as Archer's record is Cornell has never finished in 8th place - alone, untied, dead last - during his tenure. Maybe that fact will figure in the season opening press release next year. Like the year a three-way tie for 6th place (last place) exceeded expectations of the preseason poll of 7th.by nyc94 - Other Sports

marty mike1960 Ken711 George64 I looked at the Athletic Department’s giving page today - with a week left in the fiscal year, football is at 52 percent of its funding goal! Compare that to women’s ice hockey (100%), wrestling (99%), sprint football (155%), rowing (98%) . . . Apparently, people are trying to send a message to AD Moore through their wallets! Harvard's weekend preview Harvard has a chance to win its 29th Ivy League title this weekend, and will be keeping an eye on Cornell's series at Brown and Yale. Harvard finished Ivy League play at 9-1-1 (24 points), while Cornell sits at 6-2-0 (19 points). Any other result than two regulation wins for the Big Red would give Harvard the Ivy League title. edit: With 28 titles, Harvard would appby nyc94 - Hockey

billhoward if that was the only metric that was off, that seems a LOT of weight to give to one item. A large issue seems to be spending per student, ten percent of the rankings.
