Been as big a defender of Bullen as there is, but it's time to put Ierlan in.by semsox - Other Sports

I'm still upset about whatever the call was against Wallace after he stripped the Albany player near the start of this run.by semsox - Other Sports

Loving that for our SOS. Sure would be nice for an Ivy to have a difficult schedule and not finish the year 7-6 (looking at you Penn and Harvard)by semsox - Other Sports
Re: Cornell lacrosse 2019 - 5 years ago
Teat is unbelievable. The stick fakes and way he cradles/shoots makes it so hard for the goalie.by semsox - Other Sports

Horrible start. Bullen has been bad, but the defense hasn't been great either. Offense just needs the ball.by semsox - Other Sports

mountainred So, the good guys go into Harvard and win 67-61 on a night where Morgan was off his game. Did not see that coming, even after Harvard went to 3 OTs yesterday. Having saw the halftime score, I didn't believe this post when I first saw it. Watching the replay now, and still not sure how they did it.by semsox - Other Sports
Re: 2019-01-26: Colgate 3 Cornell 2 (ot) - 5 years ago
I'm curious to see how Schafer handles the goalies going forward. I thought the 2nd Colgate goal was really pretty soft, even though he was screened a bit. Assuming he's healthy enough, I'd like to let Galadja carry us from here on out.by semsox - Hockey
Re: 2018-11-30: Cornell at Dartmouth - 5 years ago
The good news is, because of the injuries, it's less likely our performance thus far is indicative of our true playing level. The bad news is, if we get healthy and start playing a lot better, we've already dug ourselves a pretty deep hole. Let's just win the ECAC and not worry about an at-large.by semsox - Hockey
Re: Cornell lacrosse 2019 - 5 years ago
It might be time to take a deep breath and trust that another year of development will be beneficial to all. Even with the shut off strategy dropping our offensive production the last quarter of the season, the team as a whole averaged 2 goals per game more than the 2017 squad with largely the same personnel. The only loss next year on the offensive end is Dowiak. Barring injury, we will have a tby semsox - Other Sports
Re: Cornell lacrosse 2018 - 5 years ago
cu155 There are a couple of reasons why teams don't faceguard. 1) In doing so it allows Cornell to open up the rest of the field more when effectivly playing 5x5 due to Teat being out of the action. If a team has multiple scoring threats and the ability to pass well this makes it hard for the rest of the defenders to cover the ball and someone will get open/get off a good shot. Re: Cornell lacrosse 2018 - 5 years ago
Regarding the penalty at the end and lack of dead-ball, I wonder if they'd ever change the rules to do something like in hockey, where maybe you allow a 7th attacker into the offensive half of the field before any whistle. This would generate a transition like opportunity of having an unmarked man streaking towards the box, and would also essentially lengthen the penalty advantage to the durationby semsox - Other Sports
Re: Cornell lacrosse 2018 - 5 years ago
That first goal was encouraging. Teat got involved with a pick, and the rotation looked like it had the Syracuse defense confused. Have to hope that by locking off Teat, they show cracks that otherwise might not be there.by semsox - Other Sports
Re: Cornell lacrosse 2018 - 6 years ago
Whatever. We're going to have to beat some good teams in the tournament. I'm not even sure Syracuse is a good team, so bring em' onby semsox - Other Sports

Moving to Framingham two months ago sure has some benefits. Will be in Section 125 for the Saturday game with my +1by semsox - Hockey
Re: Cornell lacrosse 2018 - 6 years ago
djk26 I like lacrosse, I just don't understand it. How does Cornell go from losing all 24 faceoffs (or winning only 1...sources differ) in one game to winning 12/24 in the next game? I know that Albany is a lot better than Binghamton, but that's just so dramatic. And how does Cornell stay competitive in a game where they lose every faceoff? Yea, I wouldn't look at winning 50% as a good harbiby semsox - Other Sports

I'm with lakerlaxfan. Anyone who was not the biggest fan of Kerwick is probably very bullish on this team, particularly with Teat leading the offense. Wouldn't be shocked with an NCAA appearanceby semsox - Other Sports
Re: Men's Basketball (2017-2018) - 6 years ago
Just reading the last few posts, it makes me so mad that this program squandered what it had built with the 2008-2010 run. Yes, Donahue left right after, but to see the momentum from that just turn to nothing in like two years is so, so frustrating.by semsox - Other Sports

scoop85 mountainred In other league news, Dartmouth's best player decided to quit the team the day before the season started. He'll graduate early and play two years somewhere else. Rather strange, especially considering that Boudreaux’s father (and possible both parents) are Dartmouth alumns. This can cut both ways if he was never really crazy about Dartmouth, but went out of a perceivedby semsox - Other Sports

ugarte Trotsky dbilmes Rudy Winkler becomes the fourth Cornell athlete to win an individual championship at the NCAA Track and Field Championships. This seems impossible. The Ivies dominated the early days of the NC$$ (1910-) when college athletics was the Upper Class Twit of the Year olympiad. Re: Cornell's teams among NCAA's best and brightest academically - 6 years ago
David Harding I don't understand the calculation. Each student-athlete receiving athletically related financial aid earns one point for staying in school and one point for being academically eligible. A team’s total points are divided by points possible and then multiplied by 1,000 to equal the team’s Academic Progress Rate. Put a zero in both numerator and denominator for the Ivies, and thby semsox - Other Sports

CU77 This move makes no sense at all. Who is going to take Milliman's old job for one year? What recruit is going to come under these circumstances? Just start a search for a permanent head coach NOW!!! I find the move bizarre as well. Not to say it can't or won't end well, but imagine a scenario where Milliman doesn't have the interim tag eventually removed. Not a pretty thoughtby semsox - Other Sports

scoop85 upprdeck We seemed to find the way to spend billions on a ny tech campus thats way over budget while poorly funding things on the main campus I wasn't aware that Tech was over budget. Where is that information available? I would also like to know about this, granted, in the long list of things I would be upset about going over budget on, the Tech Campus would be dead last.by semsox - Other Sports
