Re: Cornell lacrosse 2020 - 4 years ago
Additionally, even if individual teams travel together, if you're using shared workout equipment, even a single case on one of the teams could put all other users at risk. It sucks, but it's the inevitable outcome. Now we just need to pray that the league is at least willing to throw the seniors a bone, and grant a blanket year of eligibility or something.by semsox - Other Sports
Re: Corona Virus And Playoff Games - 4 years ago
For the record, the Ivy League statement said individual institutions will get to decide on Winter sports seasons. Given how near the end is for both the Men's and Women's teams and assuming the NCAA still has the event in some fashion (whether it's in front of empty stadiums, etc.), I very much doubt we'll make the move to end those seasons.by semsox - Hockey
Re: Corona Virus And Playoff Games - 4 years ago
Really really hoping that we just make it to no spectators and go from there. Cancelling the remainder of the season would be so brutal for these teams.by semsox - Hockey

Uh oh... Breaking: Harvard not allowing team to play. Forfeits this weekend. ECAC tournament in jeopardy. More to follow— College Hockey News (@chnews) March 11, 2020by semsox - Hockey

Really bizarre scoreline given the way that half played out.by semsox - Other Sports
Re: Cornell lacrosse 2020 - 4 years ago
scoop85 mike1960 mike1960 It would be nice to win ONE faceoff against Ohio State. So we go to the long pole on faceoff and must concede the possession and hope for a turnover. Really disappointing. Yeah, way too soon for that. Most of the faceoff losses have been off ground ball play, not off the clamp. I’d stick with Raz and Petrakis for now. Agreed. Wing play has been disappointingby semsox - Other Sports

I don't understand it, but I'll take it. The team hands Princeton it's first league loss 73-62by semsox - Other Sports

mountainred In all, a nice win. Bryant is also supposed to stink, so a 2-0 start is doable. Twas not to be. Bryant pulls out the 1 point win at home. Looks like it will be another long season.by semsox - Other Sports
Re: Ivy League lacrosse tournament 5/3 5/5/19 - 4 years ago
There's few enough games remaining that we should be able to predict final RPI's right? I'd be curious if there's any scenarios where Penn falls out of the top 5 and ND climbs into it, which I think would help our chances a lot. I have a bad feeling though. Yale is just an awful matchup with TD. I would have much rather faced Penn in the semifinal.by semsox - Other Sports

I think it's bad that Hopkins won tonight. Leap frogs them over us as a potential at-large.by semsox - Other Sports

That out of bounds play was something special. Huge gut check win.by semsox - Other Sports
Re: Cornell-Princeton lacrosse 4/27/19 - 5 years ago
Maybe, but the Princeton goalie has also taken probably 5 goals off the board that should have been layups. He was out of his mind in the 1st half.by semsox - Other Sports

The difference in intensity between the Princeton close D and the Cornell close D is stark.by semsox - Other Sports
Re: Cornell-Brown lacrosse 4/20/19 - 5 years ago
I'll take the W, but really have not been enjoying the style of play of this season as a whole. I feel the face-off issue has forced the staff to slow down the offense into a deliberate slog. They're so afraid of not being efficient in converting their possessions that it's blunting the creativity of the players and the flow of the game.by semsox - Other Sports
Re: Cornell-Brown lacrosse 4/20/19 - 5 years ago
Our team has as much talent as anybody for a deep run into May, and if they're going to approach that ceiling, then they will take care of business this weekend and next weekend.by semsox - Other Sports
Re: Cornell-Notre Dame game Thread - 5 years ago
Inexcusable end to the half as well. There's so much talent on this team, but they seem to make these little mistakes that don't let them play up to their abilities.by semsox - Other Sports
Re: Cornell-Notre Dame game Thread - 5 years ago
Feel strangely confident going into this game. Expecting a big showing from the team.by semsox - Other Sports
Re: Cornell-Syracuse lacrosse game thread - 5 years ago
The shot clock should be extended to 90 seconds, with 30 seconds to clear over mid-field. After every goal, opposing team has to take it from the back end line, and the clear begins. Will likely lead to more turnovers/ridings, and thus more goals while also making the game faster. Face offs suck.by semsox - Other Sports
Re: Cornell-Syracuse lacrosse game thread - 5 years ago
Is there any other sport that allows such lopsided time-of-possession differentials because of a mechanic codified in the rules of that sport? It's immensely frustrating to have such a potentially great team in most other aspects be completely neutered because they don't have a specialist who can keep up with the other specialists.by semsox - Other Sports
Re: Cornell-Penn lacrosse thread - 5 years ago
Brutal finish. There's a fine line between physicality and recklessness, and too often we are verging into the latter. The penalty disparity between us and our opponents is not an accident, and it's really hurting.by semsox - Other Sports

Loving that for our SOS. Sure would be nice for an Ivy to have a difficult schedule and not finish the year 7-6 (looking at you Penn and Harvard)by semsox - Other Sports

Teat is unbelievable. The stick fakes and way he cradles/shoots makes it so hard for the goalie.by semsox - Other Sports
