Re: Nov 11, 2005 - 19 years ago
Well, I am sure that one of these days we will stay in Manchester, NH, and we are not adverse to flying Southwest. However, we have a lot of CU and BU friends (not to mention former weenies--uh, I mean, bosses--at Harvard) with whom we'd like to visit in Cambridge and Boston. The Brown-Harvard pairing (or the Providence-Boston-Cambridge axis) used to make a lot of sense for us because we also hby CU at Stanford - Hockey

Re: Ithaca Journal review - 19 years ago
Amen...Fans, stop beating up Schafer and ourselves! It has been a thrilling ride and I think we all agree that more is in store for us next fall. Let's focus on the positive and leave the coaches to do the "dirty work" (recruiting, getting players in better shape in summer, etc.) during the off-season. I, for one, can't wait for October (and I live in CA!).by CU at Stanford - Hockey

Annoying Brown fans - 19 years ago
The Brown fans were pretty annoying themselves...This woman (supposedly Brown's "No. 1 fan" actually chastised me at the end of the January 7 game, accusing me of being rude to her team, players, and fans. I did no more than yell "Screw BU...," "Sieve," "It's all your fault, it's all your fault" (after each of our four goals), etc. Here is an appropriateby CU at Stanford - Hockey
Re: Nov 11, 2005 - 19 years ago
We used to go to Brown, with Providence being only an hour away, and my wife has cousins there. Dartmouth is much farther, and we have many, many friends in Boston and Cambridge to see, so I am less inclined to road trip to Hanover, NH. It pains me to think that I will only take in one, not two, Cornell games, but after flying cross-country, I am not that crazy about 4-5 more hours of winter-drby CU at Stanford - Hockey
Nov 11, 2005 - 19 years ago
Well, I am a little bummed that Brown and Harvard no longer travel together in the new season. Does anyone know if Boston University or Boston College are at home on Friday Nov. 11, 2005? Maybe we can all go to the new BU rink for a game.by CU at Stanford - Hockey
Re: Whither Mike Schafer? - 19 years ago
nyiballs... You are so lucky...you don't sound like you were a Cornell fan during the McCutcheon era. Do you know how it felt to have gone to the Boston Garden (uh, I mean, Bah-stan Gah-den) four times and never came home with the ECAC championship? How about a long losing streak at home at Lynah? Cornell lost to Harvard (uh, OK, Hah-vahd) on January 8, by a 0-1 score. Cornell lost to Miby CU at Stanford - Hockey

Re: ECACHL Championship Wear - 19 years ago
I bought a LARGE, and it fits me (5'-8" comfortably. I don't think you need to order up or down. Yes, the color is what is on the ECACHL website. More maroon than red, unfortunately. So, no, it is not true Carnelian red. I was going more for the graphics than the actual color. Besides, I think a true red shirt will fade badly after a few washes, whereas a maroon shirt tends to stand uby CU at Stanford - Hockey
Re: Attempting to retrieve the cowbell - 19 years ago
They are not cheap. I have a few small ones from bicycle races (imprinted with Saturn and T-Mobile logos), as cowbells are popular among the Europeans at bike races. Of course, you should see the real cowbells they bring from their farms. But the kind Age uses will probably run $25-50 easily, depending quality and size.by CU at Stanford - Hockey
ECACHL Championship Wear - 19 years ago
Got my red (well, it is more maroon, really) ECACHL championship tee-shirt from the league merchandiser yesterday. Nice T-shirt. Will go nicely with this new Hawaiian shirt that I got from my brother-in-law and his wife for my birthday (also maroon). CU hockey game on video?? - 19 years ago
Did anyone tape the ECACHL games (vs. Vermont, vs. Harvard) and the NCAA (vs. Ohio State)?? Any chance I can make a donation to eLynah and viola!...VCD/DVDs of these games show up in my mailbox?? Yeah, it "sucks" that no one is doing this, DeltaOne81. Screw BU, Hah-vahd, too (just feel that I have to say it).by CU at Stanford - Hockey

Re: Whither Mike Schafer? - 19 years ago
I think a 5% payout on Cornell's endowment is a generous estimate. Trustees are very conserviative on this. Harvard's payout is around 4% these days, maybe just south of 4%. Stanford is perhaps most aggressive, at a fraction north of 5%. Don't think the salaries of our coaches are public knowledge, as Cornell is not a wholely public institution, and the Athletics Department belongs to the pby CU at Stanford - Hockey
Support Schafer and our team - 19 years ago
This is kind of a thread off the "Whither Mike Schafer" thread... I think the best things people on this list can do to help keep Coach Schafer at Cornell are (1) Write to AD Andy Noel and let him know how much you'd appreciate what Mike Schafer has done for the hockey program and what that means to you as an alumnus. Copy President Jeff Lehman if you feel like it. (He does reby CU at Stanford - Hockey
Re: Attempting to retrieve the cowbell - 19 years ago
You were right and smart to have taken photos during the incident. Glad to hear that the cowbell is back in the good guy's possession. We on the West Coast almost took up a collection for a replacement cowbell on Sunday.by CU at Stanford - Hockey
Re: Cornell vs. Minnesota post game thread - 19 years ago
I think we lost because we did not generate nearly enough shots on goal. We were lucky to make it past Ohio State on Saturday with an equally meager offensive output. Granted, the three goals on Saturday were pretty, but we were almost outshot 2:1. Today, basically the same story and we only managed to come up with a (very pretty 3-on-1) SHG. Re: Cornell 3 Ohio State 2, Postgame Thread - 19 years ago
Longtime linemates?? How about twins?? It was Cam Abbott to Chris Abbott for the score (2nd and tying goal). Thank goodness for the twins, I'd say. I must say that all three goals were of the pretty variety: Doug Krantz's blast redeemed his earlier penalty and the resulting second goal for OSU. The Abbott-to-Abbott for an easy tap-in. Re: Bay Area CA viewing party on Sunday - 19 years ago
Here is the information you'd need if you'd like to join us for the game on Sunday as Cornell takes on the Minnesota for the NCAA Western Regional final. Folks, The Ice Oasis is kindly accommodating us tomorrow by opening a half-hour early at 12:30. The restaurant itself is closed for Easter, so there won't be food and beverages available, but we can bring our own, so feel freeby CU at Stanford - Hockey

Thank you, Harvard, for beating us on January 8. That got the unbeaten streak going. Report: Minnesota's Hirsch Checks Into Hospital Sources say Gopher had nervous breakdown Apparently, this news has changed since the time I posted the original headline. Hirsch is back with the team, though was hospitalized earlier in the week. I guess it still would not be funny to call him a nut case or nut job.by CU at Stanford - Hockey
