Got home OK - 21 years ago
Nope, don't have *fun* travel stories to share from this past weekend, either. PVD to Phoenix was kind of hellish on Southwest, because of two boys in front of us who could not stop fighting/touching/arguing with each other, and an ineffective aunt who failed miserably to broker peace between them. (Finally, a non-related passenger said to the young woman, why don't you sit between them? Duh!)by CU at Stanford - Hockey
Re: Thanks from the Cornell Club of Boston - 21 years ago
To Tom, Laura, Suzannah, Coach Schafer, the hockey team, and everyone else who had a hand in organizing the pre- and post-game activities: THANK YOU! Rebecca and I (and our traveling friends) all had a great time in Cambridge/Allston this past weekend. It is always heartening to see so many alumni and supporters turning out for the Cornell-Harvard game. We are proud and pleased to have particby CU at Stanford - Hockey

I miss Bill Cleary. My wife loved the "Your coach is bald" cheer. Bill had the good humor to rub his head when the Pep Band and Faithful serenaded him with that cheer.by CU at Stanford - Hockey
Post-Harvard musing II - 21 years ago
Here are some of my thoughts and observations from the Brown-Harvard (well, mostly Harvard) weekend: (1) As my friend Nora would attest: Coach Schafer angrily banged the glass behind him (and startled Nora, who was standing directly behind the glass) when Harvard scored its first goal, spoiling yet another potential shutoff by David LeNevue. (2) As others have observed: Cornell totally contrby CU at Stanford - Hockey
Post-Harvard musing I: Giving $ to Cornell Hockey - 21 years ago
Dear Fellow Lynah (and Lynah East) Faithful, First of all, I am awed by the major snow storm that started yesterday down in the mid-Atlantic region. Boy, am I glad that we made it out of Providence/Cambridge all right! I am sorry to report that it is mild and sunny here in the Bay Area. A while back I wrote about what I thought folks should do in support of our beloved hockey team. Some ofby CU at Stanford - Hockey
Re: Du Gamla Du Fria - 21 years ago
Toni: You will have to sing it for Rebecca and me (and I thought the French version of the Canadian National Anthem was hard...) Wish you were at Lynah East last Saturday. You would have enjoyed the crowd (and felt the collective tension when Hahvahd scored that third goal off a rebound). Next year, I shall remember to bring antacid in addition to cough drops! Re: Cornell 4 Harvard 3 FINAL - 21 years ago
Folks, just back from Lynah East, after a long day of flying (Southwest, PVD-SJC via Phoenix). Will share my thoughts and impressions on the Harvard game (as well as the Brown game from Friday night), on Monday. Just want to point out that the headlines of the Cornell-Harvard articles in both Boston's newspapers are identical: "Crimson left seeing Red." Bright Hockey Center was TRULby CU at Stanford - Hockey

Friends, apparently, Brown has renovated Meehan and there is a new luxury "skybox." My colleagues at Brown will try to sneak us in for a look, and maybe some free food.by CU at Stanford - Hockey

Re: (OT) Famous Alums - 21 years ago
Did anyone mention, my classmate and former class president, David Price '87? Emmy Award winner and now weather "dude" on Good Day New York (and sometimes seen on Good Day Live, the nationally syndicated LA version of the same morning show, with Jillian Barberie). Dave was named one of the most eligible bachelors in America a couple of years ago, by People Magazine. (He will never liby CU at Stanford - Hockey

David Starr Jordan Founding president of Stanford University According to Morris Bishop's definitive history of Cornell, Jordan NEVER graduated from Cornell with a bachelor's degree. Instead, he became the first recipient of a master's degree from CU. He later became a trustee of the university. Re: Cornell Fans Rock - 21 years ago
Worth every penny of $$ when wife and I went back to Ithaca for the Harvard-Brown weekend. We are gearing up for another road trip to Providence & Cambridge this weekend. JS Rosenberg '86: Next time, you have to bring wife to a Cornell-Harvard game (preferrably at Lynah, but Lynah East would do)--the fish, the cheers, the intensity of it all. Overtime loss=No point? - 21 years ago
The loss was the Red's second in ECAC play, and though it came in the overtime period, the team will not be awarded a point. The Red thus remains tied for first place with Harvard with one more game in hand. The above came from today's Daily Sun. A loss is a loss and gets you no point. Has there been a rule change that I miss?by CU at Stanford - Hockey
Re: hockey fund raiser - 21 years ago
Well, I sent in my donation after the Harvard game and earmarked it for the team. As much as I support the "protest," I think if you really think about it, by withholding your contribution, you are not helping the team. To me, the more effective way is to voice our individual and collective opinion against the fee-based broadcast to AD Andy Noel (and by not subscribing to the plan, anby CU at Stanford - Hockey
Re: Cornell vs. Ohio State, 12/29 - 21 years ago
Well, it did not help that Cornell was playing without its experienced goaltender. We should feel lucky that Marr kept Cornell in a close scoring game against the No. 1 Maine Bears. Also, the silver lining may be that these two games do not count toward the ECAC standing (though the next two in the North Country will).by CU at Stanford - Hockey
Hey, hey Baby....Did you kill someone? - 21 years ago
We had a great time in Ithaca this past weekend. The two wins represented two fantastic hockey games, and for those of us who reside on the West Coast, they were truly some good Cornell hockey that will sustain us for months. (Plans are afoot to roadtrip to Cambridge in February 2003...) Rebecca and I want to know : When and how the Bâby cheer started? It seemed to me that the fans onby CU at Stanford - Hockey
CU on Friday - 21 years ago
Folks, I am getting pretty excited about the upcoming home games at Lynah. We are scheduled to be on the Thursday night red-eye OAK-IAD-SYR. ETA in Ithaca is between 11am and noon, on Friday. Look forward to seeing many of you. My seats are Section K, Row 6, Seats 1-2. But, of course, I will be roaming the rink and saying hello to old friends. Go Big Red! Tomby CU at Stanford - Hockey

Need tix for Harvard-Brown Nov 22-23 - 21 years ago
Hi folks: We are making the cross-country trek from the Bay Area to Ithaca this November for the Harvard-Brown weekend (Nov 22-23). There are three of us, but only two pairs of tickets so far. So, I am looking for one more pair. If anyone has tickets and cannot go (what a shame), please contact me at <tst2@cornell.edu>.
