Re: Men's Bball def. BU - 15 years ago
Cornell records 5 dunks in the first half, 4 by Foote and 1 by Wire. This is a BU team that lost to Notre Dame by 7 and G.W. by 5 and beat Harvard and Yale. Nice win for the Cornell Big Red.by CornellFan - Other Sports

Red Zone v Newman Nation - 15 years ago
RichHBeeeejHeh... "Newman Nation." Yeah...you know I'm really starting to get tired of administrations and marketing gurus (and in this case player-bloggers) calling *every* fan base a "Nation." A second example just this week: Colgate selling hockey tickets to "Raider Nation." Really? "Nation?" It was cute and unique when the Boston media affixed tby CornellFan - Other Sports

I have no information on the numbers, but I expect just about every second semester Ivy game to sell out this year. The students will miss just about every game in the first semester.by CornellFan - Other Sports

Re: Ivy Hoops Media Day - 15 years ago
Lot of articles in the news today about the media day. Here is a post with links to those articles. I suggest everyone read the Philly.com article down at the very, very bottom of the post. It has audio files of all the coaches. The Tommy Amaker audio file is a VERY good listen considering the NY Times allegations.by CornellFan - Other Sports

I called Boston College. They are selling the tickets, but they are not on sale yet. You may also possibly be able to get some tickets through Cornell.by CornellFan - Other Sports
Re: Gore tears ACL again - 15 years ago
Yes, a tough injury. And he is probably the hardest worker on the team. But this is an injury we can overcome because of our depth. Geoff Reeves, a kid we have on the bench, is an All-Ivy talent just waiting to be cut loose. He is a freakish athlete and shoots mid 40s from beyond the arc. He is also a big guard at 6'5". Jason Battle is a solid veteran reserve and another captain.by CornellFan - Other Sports

Correct. Some of those include: Houston Baptist Seattle U. SIU-Edwardsville Bryant U. North Dakota (not NDSU, which is already D-I and member of the Summit League) U. South Dakota (not SDSU, which is already D-I and member of the Summit League) New Haven (Ct) The official term for teams in the transition years is "exploratory" Division I. Re: Hoops Preseason Rankings - 15 years ago
More like 350+ teams in Division I. Last year there were 341 full-fledged Division I basketball teams. There are another 10-20 "provisional teams" on their way to full membership. They include a pair of our 2008-2009 opponents (Bryant and South Dakota). We can make some real noise pretty early in the season IF (and its a big "if" we can advance to MSG in the NIT.by CornellFan - Other Sports

Re: Hoops-NIT Brackets Announced-Red No. 9 Seed - 15 years ago
Andy Katz had this to say yesterday on his blog: "The NIT Season Tip-Off announced its matchups Tuesday (with seeds)...Clearly this wasn't done in a traditional NCAA tournament style, since top-seeded Purdue isn't playing 16-seed Mississippi Valley State. But the gist in seeding is to increase the likelihood of the favorites getting to New York. Cornell in the East, Davidson in the Southby CornellFan - Other Sports

Re: ESPN's Andy Katz on Cornell in NIT - 15 years ago
mnagowskiI don't mind the link and lack of additional information so much as the fact that the only additional Cornell-related information in the post is that Katz called Cornell 'dangerous'. I would have expected at least a couple more words to warrant a post. CornellFan definitely is an enigma. I wonder what the basketball players think of him.
