Re: Big Red Hoops Schedule Update - 14 years ago
I haven't been given the permission to publish the detailed information, so I have not mentioned it on our Blog or here (or any other message board). And sorry for the teaser. But was only trying to convey that despite an already impressive schedule for the Big Red (Kansas, Syracuse, Alabama, Seton Hall, St. Joe's, LaSalle, UMass), we still have more good stuff to add to it. The game I wasby CornellFan - Other Sports
Re: Big Red Hoops Schedule Update - 14 years ago
So far the overall schedule is exciting. Games include Kansas, Syracuse, Alabama, Seton Hall, UMass, St. Joes and La Salle (with the Seton Hall and St. Joe's games in Ithaca). Definitely some opportunities to get some wins in that group. The UMass game is interesting because of the Max Groebe connection. Adds a bit of drama. There will be one more "name" opponent added formalby CornellFan - Other Sports
Re: Big Red Hoops Schedule Update - 14 years ago
Correct, did not mention Toledo since didn't think they'd excite anyone here. But there is one more "big time" team and BIG TIME arena still yet to be announced for this season. Alums will be happy when they hear it.by CornellFan - Other Sports
Big Red Hoops Schedule Update - 14 years ago
In addition to Kansas, Syracuse, Seton Hall, Alabama, St. Joe's and La Salle, you can now add UMass to the 2009-2010 schedule with more big names still yet to be announced! http://cornellbasketball.blogspot.com/2009/06/schedule-update-cornell-to-participate.htmlby CornellFan - Other Sports

Re: Cornell 2008-2009 Ivy League Men's Basketball Champions - 15 years ago
GermWhat we need now is a solid OOC schedule like this year. I think we get St Joe's at home next year as part 2 of a the home n home. I would assume we'll get Cuse (on the road) and probably play in a pre-season tournament of some kind. One or two big names on top of that and we'd be set. But I'm still hoping for a miracle that we can steal one in the NC$$ tourney this year. We'd probablyby CornellFan - Other Sports
Re: Cornell 2008-2009 Ivy League Men's Basketball Champions - 15 years ago
Gillespie liked to play Coury 2-10 minutes per game at the start of the game. He liked Mark to get things going with some intensity and help rally the rest of the troops. Maybe his minutes would decline in the years to come.... but one thing is for certain, this was not a guy who was 15th on the bench with no hope of ever playing. He was a role player that the coaches loved. And frankly--by CornellFan - Other Sports
Re: Cornell 2008-2009 Ivy League Men's Basketball Champions - 15 years ago
My hunch is that Reeves and Wrobo come off the bench. But regardless of who starts the game, Groebe is a 30 minute player next year. He's just too good of a scorer and Steve loves shooters.by CornellFan - Other Sports
Re: Cornell 2008-2009 Ivy League Men's Basketball Champions - 15 years ago
ugarteEven if Foote were to get injured, we'd have a 7 footer in reserve in Van Burck, right? Did he get any run at all this year? I like what Coury brings to the team a lot. I think Gillespie had soured on him, though. When I mentioned his transfer to a Kentucky alum he went to law school with, his response was "Coury was so important to us that I didn't realize he wasn't on the team anyby CornellFan - Other Sports

BCrespiGermDon't know if it's been said or not but we're the first Ivy League school other than Penn or Princeton to repeat as champs since Dartmouth in '58-'59. And assuming nobody goes pro we'll have the nucleus of our team back next year. Yes, this ran on "The Bottom Line" for some of the Ivy League champ's annual 24-hour news cycle relevance. Re: SlopeTV broadcasting the game for free - 15 years ago
Correct--- we embedded the channel on our blog. http://cornellbasketball.blogspot.com/2009/01/game-preview-center_30.html This is a trial run for Slope, so you should expect technical difficulties, but let us hope they run a good show and wish them luck. It is a great organization those kids started. I think folks should switch on and off between Slope and Redcast.by CornellFan - Other Sports
