Re: CHA/AHA Merger - 19 days ago
The Rancor But the question remains... Who is number 12? Syracuse? Buffalo? On the women's side, I wonder if it makes sense for sacred heart to move to the AHA and join the men when Delaware becomes the seventh team in 25-26.by Chris '03 - Hockey
CHA/AHA Merger - 19 days ago
Not sure what to make of all this. But it's probably helpful to consolidate operations of hockey only leagues.by Chris '03 - Hockey
Re: Men's Lax Tournament 2024 - game times - 20 days ago
Interesting wrinkle in the MAAC tournament. They play a six team tournament with two byes. The top remaining semifinalist hosts championship weekend. BUT that team must be a full MAAC member. So 3 seeded Manhattan (who beat Q in a play in) will host this weekend even though Sacred Heart and LIU are seeded 1 and 2 because it's the highest full MAAC team. Go forth and overthink who should get tby Chris '03 - Other Sports

adamw Trotsky BearLoverI just got scooped…by scoop! Seriously, I was in the middle of typing out a very similar post. I agree with much of what you said. I’m not sure how it would work regarding the goalie situation—will the Cornell coaches hold one of them back in juniors? Frankly, whoever comes next year will just be waiting behind Shane anyway, so I don’t think it makes much sense from eitherby Chris '03 - Hockey

Re: Men's Lax Syracuse at Cornell 4/2/2024 - 6 weeks ago
djk26 It was a game neither team deserved to lose (and, arguably, neither team deserved to win with long stretches of bafflingly bad play on each side.) But I am reminded of what I have felt since at least, oh, 2009. Lacrosse overtimes should not end in sudden death. I don't know how long this rule has been in place, I know it wasn't there when Cornell played Maryland for the national championby Chris '03 - Other Sports
Re: Men's Lax Syracuse at Cornell 4/2/2024 - 6 weeks ago
ugarte Is there just not a culture of intentional fouls in lacrosse? How do you not just tackle someone and make them restart with 3 seconds left? Who cares if they have an EMO for 4 seconds! I've thought this forever. Just tackle him.by Chris '03 - Other Sports

Yes, I want to win a championship but there have been two teams in my life that I thought were actually reasonably capable of it. One lost in the semifinals and one was taken away BY THE GLOBALISTS. Re: Opponents and Others 2023-24 - 7 weeks ago
CU77 chimpfood On the CHN podcast today Adam said that he supports teams being able to host regionals in their own rinks but should only play there if they are a one or two seed. I don't think any school would bid to host under these conditions. I like the lacrosse system: round 1 at higher seed, round 2 at 2 regional sites (2 games per site, same day). That doesn't solve the host home fielby Chris '03 - Hockey

jtwcornell91 Iceberg I find it crazy that the committee or whoever is responsible couldn't find another site in the midwestern US. There has to be a ton of better arenas willing to do this event at a tolerable cost. Now that they're doing the regionals on Thursday-Saturday and Friday-Sunday, couldn't one site bid to host both regionals? Re: Wrestling 2024 Postseason - 8 weeks ago
ugarte Third place matches: 157: [3] Meyer Shapiro v [6] Daniel Cardenas (Stanford) Third time is the charm, as Shapiro finally managed to wrestle Cardenas without getting bonked on the head. Shapiro did all of the scoring in this match, with two TDs in the first period and another in the second. Re: Lake Placid-2024 - 8 weeks ago
Jeff Hopkins '82 To give you an idea of how second class this tournament feels, there are no programs at the rink and not even a QR code to scan for one (like there was last year). They just didn't bother creating one. Also, there's a single tiny stand selling souvenirs. None of it has the name of the schools on it - all the souvenirs simply have the tournament logo. In other words, the tournby Chris '03 - Hockey

RichH imafrshmn Even though I love ECAC Hockey and would not want to change the conference (except maybe sending Q to HE), it's kind of bothersome how small-time this league looks in the postseason compared to HE and B1G. In football we have seen the B1G and SEC schools claiming that top tier for themselves and it seems like a similar thing is evolving in hockey. HE and B1G conference final foursby Chris '03 - Hockey

andyw2100 On the road to Lake Placid with Kim. Wondering how others feel about rooting interest in the SLU vs. Quinnipiac game. Personally I'm rooting for SLU, because I think Cornell has a greater chance of beating them should we beat Dartmouth and make the finals. (And because Quinnipiac is high on my list of teams to dislike.) But I expect some here will be rooting for Quinnipiac, with the logby Chris '03 - Hockey

jtwcornell91 billhoward St. Lawrence definitely helps attendance in Lake Placid. Clarkson a bit more. Clarkson 3700 students St. Lawrence 2200 students The best possible ECAC-in-Placid turnout would be Cornell, Clarkson, St. Lawrence and, um, pick one, maybe RPI. ugarte Will Give My Regards I'm on a zoom with the people I work with and one of them went to his first-ever Cornell hockey game Saturday night with his wife and two kids, both of whom are less than two years old. His attitude about the cussing was, "well they're going to hear it anyway at some point, what's the difference? We're already seeing guys beat each other up on the ice." Heby Chris '03 - Hockey

BMac Since everyone is speculating: the high glass was installed before the 2005-06 season. So the first clarkson qf series, ending in Topher Scott’s overtime goal (and jumping about a meter), was the last climb-the-glass moment. The following year’s clarkson qf series, which had the longest game in Lynah history to date, ended in Moulson’s OT goal and we went through the Zamboni doors.by Chris '03 - Hockey
