Re: Alumni in the Pros - April 2008 - 16 years ago
Jessiman had a bunch of injury problems a few years ago, I recall him missing most of his junior year with an ankle injury. Us Ranger fans are still bitter over the pick, but it's ok because the remedies are already here, there names are: Brandon Dubinsky, Marc Staal, Nigel Dawes, Ryan Callahan, Dan Girardi, Fedor Tyutin, and Henrik Lundqvist. What's somewhat funny is that, with the exceptiby evilnaturedrobot - Hockey
Re: Alumni in the Pros - April 2008 - 16 years ago
That's absolutely true. The reason Jessiman gets so much flack is because the 2003 first round was the exception to the rule. Just about everyone drafted in that round has become a big player, the Rangers missed in the only first round in twenty years where it seems impossible to do so. Unbelievable. But I guess it's really time to stop complaining, seeing as the organization is both goodby evilnaturedrobot - Hockey

well, those of us in section A did respond with an "anger management" chant, but I agree that "toot needs a hug" is far funnier (in retrospect I think "deep breaths" might have been a good choice.)" I actually had a conversation with a housemate after last night's game about possible Gaudet taunts for tonight. I think the faithful need to get to the root of hiby evilnaturedrobot - Hockey

rediceDuring the Friday night Dartmouth game, did I hear the "you suck Johnson" cheer correctly? If so, congratulations & how did that escape the watchful eyes/ears of the Lynah ushers? (I know, I know, ears can't be watchful ) you heard correctly. The ushers will occasionally warn an individual if he or she is 'specifically targeting and being derogatory towards one player&by evilnaturedrobot - Hockey
Re: 3/7/08: Dartmouth 2 Cornell 3 (Final) - 16 years ago
the weather has certainly been worse on other weekends this winter than last night, the attendance confused me too. Last night was one of the lightest attendances of the season, confused the hell out of me. And regardless of how justified he may have been (and I agree that the Nash slash then hook on the breakaway was one of the worst non-calls that i've ever seen),gaudet has to show moreby evilnaturedrobot - Hockey

I seem to recall the ticket office requiring ejected students to return their tickets (so that the ticket office could resell them, despite refusing to refund the origional owner's money) on threat of judicial action.by evilnaturedrobot - Hockey

KeithKevilnaturedrobotDoug '08I think the bottom line is that Athletics takes hockey fans for granted, and just assume that they will always sell out the rink, pay inflated prices for tickets, and put up with anything because they are holding all the cards. I agree. And, as I said above, what I find so ridiculous is that Athletics treats its best customers far worse than anyone else. What oby evilnaturedrobot - Hockey

TrotskyAs a reminder, it's not the ushers' fault. They don't set policy and if they don't follow policy, they lose their jobs. Be polite and respectful to them and I'm sure they will treat you the same way. Oh, I agree, and I happen to know the two ushers at the A/B entrance fairly well and have never had a problem with them (neither of them has even asked to see my ticket in about 6 monthsby evilnaturedrobot - Hockey
Re: The Athletic Department and Cornell Hockey - 16 years ago
WillAs I see it, the reasoning behind why hockey tickets prices are so exorbitant goes beyond "because they can" into "because they need to". Money taken in from hockey has to pay not just for hockey but for the 35 other varsity sports offered by the university. Most of those sports aren't bringing in any money at all by way of ticket prices. Lacrosse, football, and basketbby evilnaturedrobot - Hockey

Beeeejevilnaturedrobotexactly what about the actions and conduct of the Athletics Department would make you believe that? Any word on the quality of the MJHL? It's listed as Junior A, but I'm guessing it's a step below the BCHL (which is usually regarded as the Junior A elite.) 87 pts in 49 games ties him for third in the MJHL scoring race, which is certainly impressive. I'd like to know which height listing is correct. Either way he sounds like a nice get, but it would be extra nice if he comes with a powerfoby evilnaturedrobot - Hockey

Still, where does Garth Snow get the stones to criticize Don Lucia? Lucia's been a respected figure in the hockey world for years, Garth Snow has been a GM for a year and most of the big decisions seem to be made by Wang anyway. Don Lucia was developing players while Garth Snow was cheating shooters with illegal shoulder pads. Snow should have kept his mouth shut.by evilnaturedrobot - Hockey

I understand that you have to do what you have to do in order to further your career, but half way through a season? That just seems wrong. If you sign on for another year you should stay through march.by evilnaturedrobot - Hockey
Re: A good quote from Olshansky - 16 years ago
Well DILLIGAF's ultimate goal seems to be to disparage Mike Schafer for unknown reasons. Nor is it known why he has taken what seems to be a personal dispute/dislike onto a public forum. Of course, I'd imagine that it's slightly inappropriate to be discussing an individual poster in a thread in which he/she has not even commented, so I'm going to leave this discussion here.by evilnaturedrobot - Hockey
Re: A good quote from Olshansky - 16 years ago
oh, Dilligaf dislikes romano more than most. He's just under the impression that every cornellian with the smallest amount of talent should, and ultimately will, go the CHL route.by evilnaturedrobot - Hockey
Re: The Story So Far - 16 years ago
Josh '99WillCMJrI think Davenport had a false ceiling. Don't be fooled by having those textbook technical skills, that look good. Many of your great NHL goalies haven't had them. Look at Martin Brodeur, he flies and flops all over the place, and is one of the very greatest. Do people forget Duffus? He was even more unorthodox than Scrivens, but people were sure sad to see him go.On the otherby evilnaturedrobot - Hockey
Re: 1st regular season scoreless tie in Lynah history ?? - 16 years ago
Al DeFloriojkahnTrotsky On 12.30.67 they beat Toronto 1-0 at Lynah in overtime... That game wasn't at Lynah, but at a tournament in Buffalo. You've got it shown correctly at TBRW? as the Nichols School tournament. Right. That game pitted the defending American and Canadian college champions for the North American title. No team from Mexico showed up. Lazy Mexicans.by evilnaturedrobot - Hockey
Re: The Story So Far - 16 years ago
They look pretty good in their own zone (getting in shooting lanes, clearing pucks, battling on the boards) and they've looked pretty reasonable when they actually get into the offensive zone. The problem is that they have a terrible transition game. They can't break out and they can't establish themselves in the offensive zone most of the time.by evilnaturedrobot - Hockey
