Re: Notes for Quinny game this weekend - 16 years ago
CollegeHockeyAddictKeithKCollegeHockeyAddictHi Cornell fans, I will be visiting Lynah for the first time this Saturday. I have heard alot of great things about the atmosphere at Lynah so I'm definitely looking forward to the game. I enjoy meeting other fans so if anybody wants to say hi to me please do. I will be wearing a white signed Gopher hockey jersey so I should be pretty easy to pickby evilnaturedrobot - Hockey
Re: Sawada interview in the Sun - 16 years ago
Trotskyamerks127People in A and B mostly know it, but I doubt other student sections do.Do any of the students know about BU as anything other than a safety school they didn't have to go to? this one does, and so do the people I stand with. As for the rest of them, my guess that those fans that read this board do, I don't see why the rest would know much about BU or the history of the ECACby evilnaturedrobot - Hockey
Re: Gary Bettman Visiting Cornell - 16 years ago
Old RedevilnaturedrobotThe clutching and grabbing that was curtailed post-lockout happened under Gary's watch. Not to mention that many of us have never gotten over the fact that he's David Stern's man, and has never been a 'hockey guy.' Gary Bettman may be responsible for many things, but not "clutching and grabbing" in hockey, college, minor league or major league. Go get a tape oby evilnaturedrobot - Hockey
Re: Gary Bettman Visiting Cornell - 16 years ago
you don't get praised for digging yourself halfway out of the hole that you dug yourself. The lockout was necessitated by the 90's expansion that left the league spread too thin. Re: Ottawa Postgame - 16 years ago
Wow, I must have just completely missed that. I knew Topher and Sawada had been named co-captains, but I didn't realize that A's had been handed out. Surprising that one went to a sophomore. Anyway, on that note of embarrassing ignorance, I will bid this thread good day.by evilnaturedrobot - Hockey

they joys of the lottery system. I know more than one person that started out on the waitinglist. How many people that got line numbers didn't even bother to show up at Bartells (Or at least find some someone to hold your number for you)?by evilnaturedrobot - Hockey
Re: BU paper on 11/24 BU-Cornell game at MSG - 16 years ago
'the rock' could be carved out of chrystal, it will still feel barren when the devils draw 13,000 for a playoff game.by evilnaturedrobot - Hockey
Re: BU paper on 11/24 BU-Cornell game at MSG - 16 years ago
you're right on all accounts, but the power of the garden is in the name, not the building itself. The fact that it's 'the garden' holds a lot of weight, and I've never heard a profesional stadium louder than MSG for a playoff game. Hopefully they'll move along witht he proposal for MSG V and 'the garden' will actually be a nice facility.by evilnaturedrobot - Hockey
Re: Feature: Dryden to the Rescue - 16 years ago
and once again I miss the joke full in the face. what's worse is that I knew that Dryden wasn't in net for that season, but then assumed that I was incorrect after reading the thread.by evilnaturedrobot - Hockey
Re: Feature: Dryden to the Rescue - 16 years ago
Josh '99You'd think the article might have mentioned how Dryden was the goalie for the perfect season in 1969-70. Some research they do up there in Montreal. I think it has more to do with canadiens not reckonizing college hockey as anything of note.by evilnaturedrobot - Hockey

Re: [NHL] Hockey Needs Relegation - 16 years ago
amerks127 But look at teams like Syracuse, Binghamton, Lowell, Portland, Providence, Springfield, and Worcester who play in arenas just barely nicer than Lynah. let's not lose our heads now. They may be bigger, they may have a few more ammenities, but none of these arenas are nicer than Lynah.by evilnaturedrobot - Other Sports
Re: Red-White Scrimmage - 16 years ago
Doug '08 Brendon on the otherhand, as JDeafv mentioned, spent the game in the pressbox and chatting with Ken Dryden. Dryden actually spent the second time block (seems silling to call it a period) signing autographs and shaking hands at the extreme right of section A. Meeting him was a thrill, and he was everybit as nice and well spoken as his reputation would imply.by evilnaturedrobot - Hockey
Re: Red-White Scrimmage - 16 years ago
Did any one else think that Barlow was particuarly impressive tonight? He showed some really impressive stick skills, and was just generally more assertive in the offensive zone than I've seen him in years past. I wonder if he's teasing us or if he's due to breakout. I thought that Greening looked strong as well, which is not that suprising considering the way he finished last season.by evilnaturedrobot - Hockey
Re: [NHL] Hockey Needs Relegation - 16 years ago
KeithKJacob '06Relegation makes zero sense because the AHL teams are all affiliated with NHL teams and carry the players. So if the Wolfpack get called up to the NHL, the Rangers would just pull all of their players out of the team so they didn't have to compete with them. This doesn't even get in to the issues of arena size etc. In order to implement a relegation scheme the AHL would need to droby evilnaturedrobot - Other Sports
Re: [NHL] Hockey Needs Relegation - 16 years ago
After the complete collapse of the union two years ago, I honestly think that owners can get whatever they want the next time around. Of course, relegation is something that half of the teams in the league would hate, so it won't happen.by evilnaturedrobot - Other Sports
Re: Alumni in the Pros - October 2007 - 16 years ago
If I'm the commissioner, I can't find that position acceptable. I need my stars on the ice, they are less expendable than other players. What you're proposing is that the other team go out and run the other team's top player, which does happen. These hits will be just as borderline as the one that started the whole sequence of events in motion, as they will be given to send a message. A greatby evilnaturedrobot - Hockey
Re: Cornell/BU Thanksgiving (11/24) Ticket Info - 16 years ago
Honestly, I'm both shocked and elated that tickets have sold so well. While I share the skepticism of many regarding ticket availability (I wouldn't be at all shocked to see a number of good seats go on sale two weeks before tpuck drops) it's pretty clear that MSG will very full, if not sold out, come the 24th. Two college teams with relatively low national profiles coming close to filling a 20by evilnaturedrobot - Hockey
Re: Alumni in the Pros - October 2007 - 16 years ago
Trotsky This has now extended out to every team's top three or four scorers and it makes the NHL about as interesting as women's no-contact hockey. They should bring back hard checking, but that also means fighting will come back, as the players enforce the appropriate level of force, themselves. Honestly, I think this true in only in a selective sense. It's certainly the case that anybody wby evilnaturedrobot - Hockey
Re: Romano update - 16 years ago
He never taught Shremp how to play defense, and Tony certainly didn't go there because he thought Dale would be tutoring him in his own zone. The simple fact is that Tony left Cornell because he thought that he was being held to too many defensive responsibilities, he said as much. If a player doesn't want to learn the he doesn't want to learn. Hunter's best bet is to just sit him until he breby evilnaturedrobot - Hockey
Re: Alumni in the Pros - October 2007 - 16 years ago
it's because the reason for allowing fighting in hockey is no longer to protect star players or as a deterrent to dangerous play. This was the reason for fighting in the first place. It worked too, there's a reason why Wayne Gretzky (all 5'11". 180 lbs of him) didn't get hurt more often. It's because aposing players knew that running him meant tangling with Dave Semenko. But once you maby evilnaturedrobot - Hockey
Re: Nash injury confirmation - 16 years ago
Absolutely they do. My point is not that there are massive injuries being concealed here, merely that the player would prefer to reveal as little information as possible about his injury history. I think that's understandable.by evilnaturedrobot - Hockey
Re: Nash injury confirmation - 16 years ago
KeithKevilnaturedrobotThe thing is that many of these players are aspiring pro prospects. I know last year I heard from a friend, who was also friends with the team, about injuries to certain players and asked not to repeat the information because these players had careers in front of them. Re: Romano update - 16 years ago
It seems to me that Dilligaf does know his hockey and he does have some sort of inside contact to the program, he's been right enough that I have to conclude this. It just seems that he has something personal with Mike and he lets this color his views, sometimes to the point of ridiculousness.by evilnaturedrobot - Hockey

Re: Romano update - 16 years ago
Dilligaf, if Tony was allowed to do whatever he wanted and exepted from playing defense, then why did he leave because he thought the team was too defensive and system oriented? When you read Tony's comments it sounds like he feels that he was being stifled by Cornell's defensive style. Clearly, if Mike wasn't yelling at him to back check and play the system then he wouldn't have felt compelleby evilnaturedrobot - Hockey
