Re: NCAA QF - Denver - 5 weeks ago
Trotsky I would add one puck bounce. Indeed, though that is perhaps more agonizing a thought, since it really is random. One has to have real faith in probabilities at that point to shake confirmation biases of curses and such.by DL - Hockey
Re: NCAA QF - Denver - 5 weeks ago
The views in here have been really thought-provoking. As crushing as this loss was, I can't ignore the fact that these guys played better than I ever remember seeing us, including Buffalo in '03. One bad penalty and one shitty call while playing a side stuffed with talent is probably all that separates any quality team on any given year from taking the crown.by DL - Hockey

VIEWfromK BearLover That was the first time Cornell looked this way the entire season. I don’t see the game quite the same on tv as I do from my perch at Lynah but I saw a lot of pleasant things in their approach. Someone earlier mentioned how they didn’t overpass and that was true on all three goals. Penney did a great job of buying time to get into an even better scoring position. Mack shoby DL - Hockey

scoop85 DL SLU's lone goal compared to BC's first goal last night, both top shelf, far corner. Man, that looks hard. And especially hard for a right-hand shot Indeed, though must not be that hard for Will Smith, with a hat trick (one banked off a D-man) + ENG against BU that night.by DL - Hockey

BearLover sah67 BearLover But the question still remains—what’s wrong with Gary Glitter? The students have been dropping F-bombs during that song for 20 years. And the ushers have been tossing some of them out for that to “make an example” off and on over the last 20 years (although they do seem to have chilled out on the ejections during the last few years). Maybe it was an Andy Noel thing,by DL - Hockey

Chris '03 Will DL Ah. Geez, I must have been AWOL when that was available. Or was it that far back? Age's livestream of games goes back 20 years or more. Death of hockeycam: Sh!t, yeah that's the right timing alright. Was road tripping to Ithaca while it was up.by DL - Hockey

No coverage of the Senior Night festivities, although they did cut to it for about 10 seconds before it turning back to the infinite ESPN+ ad. Re: Brown vs. Cornell 2/16 - 2 months ago
BearLover DL BearLover Why is Grady talking about crowd size with 2 minutes to go and Brown’s goalie pulled??????? He has been a lot better lately with the tangents but this one was inexcusable. At least Grady's tangents are short and hardly detract. I'll take anything he cares to mention about any day of the week over Tim "No Doubt About It" Vanini's drawn-out, repetitive ramblings thaby DL - Hockey

Re: Cornell v Yale, 11/3/23 - 6 months ago
scoop85 Duluth lost to the Goophers 5-1. Not sure how good Duluth is this year, and Yale sure looked like a more difficult opponent, for one night at least. Their only goal came on a lucky 2-on-1 break in the closing minutes, probably from Minny playing it a bit loose with a 4-0 lead.by DL - Hockey
Re: Cornell at Yale (2/25/23) - 1 year ago
Frame-by-frame, it looks like each one is covering his man, but the Yalie being blocked has his stick holding our guy back, effectively keeping him from covering that sliver of daylight... Not that it remotely looked like he was diving to cover it but still. So they got a lucky break. Lucky too was not getting called for tripping or slew-footing on O'Leary just as he had a point blank shot inby DL - Hockey

marty DL marty DL Anyone have a link to video of the scoring breakout? This! Thanks! Shame it was just highlights instead of full play time surrounding the goals, considering how short it was. 13 minutes and 13 seconds for your entertainment. What a rush. Thank you!by DL - Hockey

Re: Q Game Thread - 2 years ago
marty jkahn arugula Saw the drop in the pwr. Who wants to take a shot at explaining that? Game counts as .44 wins and .54 losses, which certainly lowers our win %. It's 55% win x .8 (home win factor) and 45% loss x 1.2 (home loss factor). Think also how this affects Q. They feel like crap (or hopefully worse) in the loss but get .54 of a win and only .44 of a loss. So they lose but their pairby DL - Hockey
Re: Watching out of conference games - 2 years ago
Aren't viewing parties technically illegal or something? And I got the impression that the OP was already paying for ESPN+, though the last portion I felt contradicted that. Regardless, since people have different thresholds of value for money, and with the landscape of what you do get & how you get it being such a mess, pay vs pirate is not likely to be resolved anytime soon, if the relatby DL - Hockey

"Some faculty members at schools have warned against asking students to police their peers. Re: Trotsky's Fantasy Post-Season - 4 years ago
If the simulation were to be replayed, we probably would've had a 2 goal first period, followed by a BC goal off a high stick in the second. Then we'd have battled back to get a disallowed goal, three crossbars, and a whiff on an empty net. BC pots an easy one on a cherry picked breakaway, then we go to two overtimes and BC still would have taken it all on a puck bounced in off a skate that was rby DL - Hockey
