We’re getting outplayed here, gotta lock in and get into the break with a lead.

By the end of that period it's fair to say we were not getting outplayed. Great work by Castagna to stay with the puck and attack the net to take the lead. We've made some good hits and are blocking shots like crazy.

1-0 after one. Very nice.

Possession has been tilted towards St. Lawrence but Cornell has been solid defensively in its own zone. Still, that is not a formula for success. We need to win more faceoffs/battles and possess the puck more. St. Lawrence is probably going to score several goals if they continue to control the puck this much.

We’re losing in shots on goal, faceoffs, and shot attempts, luckily we seem to play better each period but we need to tighten it up. Probably won’t win this one 1-0.

Well, yes, I’m nervous. But Cornell is getting badly outshot (shot attempts 24-10 for StL) and losing almost 2/3 of faceoffs. Not a recipe for success.

"For the purpose of interpretation of this rule, icing is completed the
instant the puck crosses the goal line, unless an attacking player, who is
onside at the blue line and with no opponent between that player and the
goal line and is clearly in position to be the first player to touch the puck.
Icing shall not be called in this situation. This decision by the official shall
be made no later than the first player reaching the end zone faceoff dots.
If the puck enters the goal in this situation, icing shall not be called and a
goal shall be awarded."

After all the shit that has happened to this program the last few seasons, from getting jobbed in the title game in 2019 to being big favorites in 2020 and the season getting canceled to it again being canceled in 2021 to badly outplaying Colgate in 2022 but losing to the OT loss versus Harvard last year—I’m glad the puck FINALLY bounced Cornell’s way for once. I don’t think we looked decidedly better than either Dartmouth or St. Lawrence, which doesn’t bode well for the NCAAs, but this is a very sweet victory. Mike and the team deserve it.

"Oat-standing" win for the boys, for Schäf, and everyone associated with Cornell Hockey. It's about time we didn't get screwed over by refs, luck, or whatever. It brought tears to my eyes to see Schafer get emotional there at the end. Drink this one in, ye faithful, and pour one out for those who have left.

Right. No way would an overall #1 have to play an at large team instead of an autobid. The committee would never screw a #1 seed like that, would they?

SLU's lone goal compared to BC's first goal last night, both top shelf, far corner. Man, that looks hard.

ER
I’ve never heard it called Czechia. It sounds too much like Chechnya

Look at Ondrej‘s bio.

The EU has adopted the name "Czechia" and that's what I've used to refer to the country for the past few years. I was in the country last year for almost a week but I can't remember what names the locals used. I almost think it was both but I can't remember. Either way, people should know that it's the same country being referenced.

According to Wikipedia, both Ceská Republika and Cesko are used (but the forum won't let me use the correct letter C in Czech).

And especially hard for a right-hand shot

Saying Czech Republic instead of Czechia is like saying Republic of Moldova instead of Moldova. Not technically wrong, just weird that a lot of people use the official name.

Marian Mosko from Visolaje, Slovakia got ice time last night. I don’t know if Ondrej Psenicka was on the ice at the same time, but for this key game, the two parts of former Czechoslovakia were reunited.

Indeed, though must not be that hard for Will Smith, with a hat trick (one banked off a D-man) + ENG against BU that night.
