Which loss was more painful? - 19 years ago
The Frozen Four loss in 2003 or today? Even though today is fresh, I don't think it's a close call. Two years ago we were going in with a senior dominated team which had high expectations, playing on NHL size ice in a friendly environment against a team we all thought we should beat. We dominated good portions of that game, and if not for the loss of concentration after the disallowed goal,by scoop85 - Hockey
Re: Cornell vs. Minnesota post game thread - 19 years ago
This weekend does point out the unfortunate talent gap that seems to have opened between the WCHA and everyone else (probably except for Michigan). Not to say would couldn't have won today, we certainly could have. But after putting up a phenomenal unbeaten streak and dominating the ECACHL, we are left on the outside looking in. Minnesota, which was third in their conference and lost in their cby scoop85 - Hockey

I would say take it easy on O'Byrne. He is (and will continue to be) an integral part of the team for the next 2 years.by scoop85 - Hockey

Not having seen it, did McKee have much of a chance?by scoop85 - Hockey
Re: CU-Minnesota Game Thread - 19 years ago
It's a shame ... it sounds like O'Byrne was trying to get a face-off and get a change, but Minnesota freed the puck and put it home. Ironic, a typical Cornell goal.by scoop85 - Hockey

The pattern in the tourney so far has been for the higher seeded team to win all the close ones -- time to bust that trend!by scoop85 - Hockey
Re: CU-Minnesota Game Thread - 19 years ago
OT ... Minny had a flurry at the end, but overall sounds like an even third. I guess if before the game you gave me a chance to go to OT on Minny's home ice, I would have taken it. Given how clutch some of our guys have been all year and how well Mckee is playing, we have a great shot. If we are somehow able to pull this off (not woofing), it will rank as one of the greatest CU wins of allby scoop85 - Hockey
Re: CU-Minnesota Game Thread - 19 years ago
Shots now 8-8 in the third. What an effort. Wally and Glen are worried that their boys are wearing down.by scoop85 - Hockey
Re: CU-Minnesota Game Thread - 19 years ago
According to live stats (thanks for the tip), 3:06 left in third. "Wally and Glen" never tell us. We're lucky to know what period it is!by scoop85 - Hockey

Crowd (and announcers) sounding anxiousby scoop85 - Hockey
Re: CU-Minnesota Game Thread - 19 years ago
Minny announcer says "I like that Krantz, he's a pretty good defenseman ... and he's only a freshman." Rare praise for a Cornell player by these clowns.by scoop85 - Hockey
Re: CU-Minnesota Game Thread - 19 years ago
Shots only 8-6 bad guys in this period. Clearly sounds like we are doing much better of late.by scoop85 - Hockey
Re: CU-Minnesota Game Thread - 19 years ago
Also, the Minny announcers are saying how proud they are of the Gophers "flawless effort." If that is true, we have to be proud.by scoop85 - Hockey
Re: CU-Minnesota Game Thread - 19 years ago
It sounds like there have been more board battles lately; we have to like that.by scoop85 - Hockey
Re: CU-Minnesota Game Thread - 19 years ago
It does sound like the Gophers have a serious transition game, but again part of my perception may be the crowd's excitement every time they break out of their zone.by scoop85 - Hockey

For those watching, how (if at all) is our game being affected by the larger ice surface vs. the effect of Minnesota's speed and passing skills?by scoop85 - Hockey
Re: CU-Minnesota Game Thread - 19 years ago
End of 2, 1-1. We have 1:40 of powerplay to start the 3rd. We're weathering a serious storm. 20 minutes of regulation left and we are still alive. We sounded a bit stronger in the 2nd, so hope we can ratchet it up in the 3rd and steal this one.by scoop85 - Hockey
Re: CU-Minnesota Game Thread - 19 years ago
Minnesota penalty at 19:40 of the second. Let's do it!by scoop85 - Hockey
Re: CU-Minnesota Game Thread - 19 years ago
killed the penalty, but lots of chances. McKee sounds spectacular. Cornell now has a dangerous flurry in the Minnesota end, but Briggs holds on. 1:20 left in secondby scoop85 - Hockey
Re: CU-Minnesota Game Thread - 19 years ago
Dang, another CU penalty with 4:00 in second. Well, time for another shorty!by scoop85 - Hockey
Re: CU-Minnesota Game Thread - 19 years ago
These jokers (the announcing team, that is), never tell you how much time is left. How lame.by scoop85 - Hockey
