Re: ECAC Playoff Changes - 1 year ago
I wonder if they’re also adding a week to the women’s season when they go to 12 or if they’ll have something like a Tuesday playoff game for teams 9-12.by Weder - Hockey

Not going to start a separate thread, but just noticed that the sprint football team went 1-6 this year and was shut out 4 times, including a 72-0 loss to Army. Penn is the only other Ivy that still plays sprint football. Outside of Cornell, Penn, Army and Navy, all the other schools that play sprint football look to be in Division II. Cornell beats SLU, 7-6, coming back from 6-5 down with two goals while Gillis Frechette was serving a 5-minute major for cross-checking. One was a SHG and the other was 4-on-4 after SLU got a delay of game penalty after the SHG. Just one of those games.by Weder - Hockey

abmarks Trotsky The late start is self-sabotage, but it is well-meaning. I'd love see the data about season length by sport.to see how hockey stacks up Tennis has fall and spring seasons, but other than that I'm pretty sure hockey has the longest NCAA regular season length. dbilmes The women did well to split a road weekend against two ECAC opponents who, like Cornell, are also in the Top Ten. No. 8 Cornell lost 4-1 to No. 7 Quinnipiac on Friday, but bounced back to beat No. 10 Princeton, 3-1, on Saturday, breaking a 1-1 tie with two third-period goals. Didn’t get a chance to watch today’s game, but Friday’s was very enjoyable and much closer than the final scoreby Weder - Hockey

Re: Congress allows Ivy League antitrust exemption to expire - 1 year ago
The antitrust exemption has to do with the lack of any merit-based aid at Ivies, not just the lack of athletic scholarships. A lawsuit against the Ivies and a few other schools, which can now proceed, alleges that this arrangement is part of a price-fixing scheme.by Weder - Hockey
