Re: The Superiority of the 16-Team Tournament - 15 years ago
cbuckserIt seems that the top two seeds always prevailed in the regionals unless a lower seed was playing at or near its home rink or Clarkson was a top two seed. (I know this is an exaggeration, but my point still stands.) Is it really necessary to kick us while we're down?by Dpperk29 - Hockey
Re: "Off the Crossbar" today - 15 years ago
CowbellGuyI wouldn't necessarily, either, but as of the last census, the *ahem* Ithaca metropolitan area was home to just under over 100,000 people. I would Hardly consider all of tompkins county the ithaca metropolitan area. Groton is definetly more closely affiliated with Cortland. T-burg and Newfield are both a little too far to be considered metro area too.by Dpperk29 - Hockey
Re: "Off the Crossbar" today - 15 years ago
mnagowski it's a region in decline, whaddya want? It's actually worth pointing out that Albany, along with Ithaca, are the only two upstate metros not experiencing population decline. I would hardly consider ithaca "Metro"... unless of course you are from Carolineby Dpperk29 - Hockey

RichHCornellFanCheck The Cornell Basketball Blog. Why why why can't you please just tell us in this post? I refuse to go to your blog when you pull this. If you said the name of the school, I'd be happy to click to read more details. I see from the URL that it's "crimson," So I'm guessing Crimson Tide of Alabama. Cool. I second all points...by Dpperk29 - Other Sports
Re: Cornell-Yale ECAC championship postgame - 15 years ago
I personally like the way USA Hockey handles the hitting from behind rule. If you hit someone from behind, 2 minute minor and a 10 minute misconduct. if you hit someone from behind and they go head first into the boards, 5 minute major and a game misconduct. the beauty of the 10 minute misconduct is that it doesn't hurt the offending team any more than the minor, and losing that player fby Dpperk29 - Hockey

How is that cornell getting screwed? Cornell was terrible down the stretch, and lost it's conference championship 5-0. Had cornell won last night you might be able to say cornell getting shipped out west is a screw job, but right now cornell ought to be happy they are even in the tourney.by Dpperk29 - Hockey

Tom ToneNo, not really. But honestly, aren't any traditions sacred? The annual Dragon Day parade, a rite of spring at Cornell, returns March 13, but with a major difference. Instead of the dragon disappearing in an orgy of flames and smoke on the Arts Quad, a facsimile of the beast -- free of noxious paint, glue and other materials -- will go up in smoke while the actual, student-built dragonby Dpperk29 - John Spencer Is Dead

BeeeejjdonofrioIt doesnt matter what they doing, there is no reason to throw someone out 2 minutes before we storm the court. Yeah, that's kinda what I thought. abmarksTrotskyugarteSince I started watching in 1990, that has included D'Alessio, Duffus, LeNeveu and now Garman And maybe Isles. We probably won't get many blue chip scoring forwards unless other considerations are at play (Riley), but I would think Cornell would be in the running for any elite goalie, defenseman, or defensive forward. The main obstacle for them isn't the system, but admissby Dpperk29 - Hockey

RichHRich SThanks Jim. It was right up there with elynah folks referring to Clarkson's "gold" as "yellow." Gold: Yellow: and of course, the first one is better described as metallic gold (yes I know this is oxymoronic because the actual substance gold is a metal), where as the second is just gold.by Dpperk29 - Hockey
Re: Jordan Berk Gone - 15 years ago
andrekopitarOh KP 06' you disagree alot eh? Have u checkd Jordans +/- for when he was a member of the big red? Did you watch him at the start of his rookie season when he was quarterbacking the powerplay? I had visions of a Brain Rafalski or Tomas Kaberle. This guy is good! You cringed when he touchd the puck? He had the better hands and vision then any other Cornell defenceman you have. I cringeby Dpperk29 - Hockey

Rich isn't the only one who thinks Jim needs to give it a rest. frankly, it doesn't help the Ivy League's reputation as snooty, spoiled, and self centered to hear someone complain because it isn't done the "Cornell" way that it is obviously the wrong wby Dpperk29 - Hockey

Jim HylaDpperk29As for the drums, I don't like it either, but if you listen first someone starts the chant and then the drummers start in. I don't care who starts it, the fact is the band shouldn't play, PERIOD. And yes, this obviously bothers me. Jim HylaBMacIs helped off. Doesn't look good. No penalty. Crowd claps then chants "on your feet!"They were yelling pussy, at least untill we shamed them to stop. The "On your feet" was their version of "Townies up" with 2 exceptions.
