Trotsky I am ultra careful but my I assume utterly absurd and unscientific hope was: (1) Reach herd immunity in, let's say, July. National herd immunity? I'd need to be getting around 3:1 on my money to book that wager.by abmarks - Hockey

Re: Cornell Hockey Zoom webinar tonight (March 10) - 3 years ago
billhoward If you're injured before the season or early in the season, you get a fifth year to complete four years of eligibility. That makes sense, but you have to be an undergrad, and iirc you need to petition and make a case to be able to be enrolled beyond 4 years. (Used to be the case, anyway). If so, and back to mearlier post itt about the current freshman class sitting I hope the spby abmarks - Hockey

Re: Recruits beyond 2020 - 3 years ago
Jim of course is spot on, plus the issue of variants. Here's my question though. Everybody in the hockey program is over 16. They will be plenty of shots available come fall... So why don't we and the league just mandate vaccination for participation by the players as well as the coaching staff. Even if we're not at herd immunity it seems to me that would be sufficient to let the kids playby abmarks - Hockey
Re: Recruits beyond 2020 - 3 years ago
Al DeFlorio Jeff Hopkins '82 Not to mention that these higher transmissibility variants means a higher percentage vaccinated required for herd immunity. IMO, I think we're going to be dealing with "boosters" for a while, too. Just read on a cruise forum that the UK is planning on doing annual shots a la the standard flu shot. Didn't know you were a swingerby abmarks - Hockey
Re: Opponent News 19-20 - 3 years ago
upprdeck so ND and Mich both test out.. I wonder why they didnt have stand by teams for this like the bball did.. its not like they couldnt push a game or 2 back a day to deal with it. Isn't the obvious answer that you need a bare minimum of 7 guys or so for hoop, and hockey would.need an absolute minimum of something like 13 or 14? (2 lines, 2 goalies and a couple spare parts in case of injuryby abmarks - Hockey

Weder arugula On the webinar, didn’ t Schaf mention an ASU trip over New Years? Yeah, he mentioned the whiplash of playing at ASU one weekend and at North Dakota the next. Why bother returning to Ithaca? Wonder if it's be too expensive to remain out west somewhere for the week and turn it into a team building retreatby abmarks - Hockey
Re: Cornell Hockey Zoom webinar tonight (March 10) - 3 years ago
upprdeck i thought the ivies wanted you to not play as a 5th yr Grad not to finish in 4 yrs.. You.have to be an undergraduate. I was under the impression that you also only had 4 years to use your eligibility (ie no 5th year seniors). Those that know better feel free to correct me.by abmarks - Hockey

Trotsky abmarks Trotsky We have a fair number of commitments now. According to that link...13 for 2021 arrival? That'll be interesting. It's what I have pieced together from different sources, but nobody knows. I mean, nobody actually knows if there will even be a '22 season, though for the first time in a year I have some confidence. Even if true that they were 13, I have to think thatby abmarks - Hockey
Re: Cornell Hockey Zoom webinar tonight (March 10) - 3 years ago
Trotsky Weder Schafer also said in the Zoom chat that all of the freshmen are on leave right now.Do they lose a year? I'm not sure how the current freshman taking leave for the spring semester would actually help them eligibility-wise unless they also managed to withdraw during the fall semester so their fall semester didn't count. Well they won't have used up any playing eligibility, they wiby abmarks - Hockey

Redscore I interpret this to be trouble. Plain and simple. I don't want to focus on whether the decision was correct or not, but more on what the result of all this will be when the dust settles. Ivy sports may never recover. The fact that Yale is down to 7 players on the Lacrosse team, just a couple of years after winning the national championship, is extremely concerning. scoop85 I’ve noticed this year especially how much congestion there is, limiting the impact of skill. If slightly increasing the net size can have a ripple effect to minimize the congestion, I’m all in favor. If we really wanted to eliminate the congestion then the ranks all have to get bigger, like Olympic size or even more. Players are just so much taller/bigger and faster these days thaby abmarks - Hockey
