3x3 OT proven silly - 2 years ago
marty AHCA. There was lots of debate on this board about 3x3 OT and how little OT wins were valued. The article Marty found has has some actual quantitative analysis and is the best argument I've seen for playing traditional overtime and not this silly stuff. TLDR: ot wins and losses are irrelevant with current rules and might as well have just been ties. Here's the portion about ovby abmarks - Hockey

Trotsky Perets' backup got his 4th shutout last night. He's 6th in the NCAA; 2nd in GAA (1.21).. So it's the system? Are there any advanced metrics out there that (at least) purport to separate out GAA/save percentage from the quality and volume of shot attempts? In soccer you could at look at the xG of the shot attempts on a given goalie to see how much they under/overachieved expectatiby abmarks - Hockey

I can't blame them for transferring. But they all made choices as to "where" they went. Maybe there are non hockey reasons why he chose that program, who knows. But if he was looking for a currently strong program and misjudged, that's on himby abmarks - Hockey

BearLover scoop85 I feel for Michael Regush. He was a nice player for us and obviously had some team success here. But as a grad transfer at Miami OH his team is having an awful year, and they just got swept by St. Cloud State by a combined 19-1 in two games over the weekend. Yikes. It was his decision to transfer. Rarely agree with bearlover, but yep.by abmarks - Hockey

cbuckser Dafatone ugarte my highlight of the weekend was an offense that was willing to plant near / crash the crease to take advantage of rebounds and loose pucks. I always think the Schafer offense - because it is too consistent to not be a coaching philosophy - is too reliant on looking for *the perfect shot* and endless cycling instead of looking for GOOD shots and second chances.
