Re: 2018 ECAC Permutations - 6 years ago
BearLover Trotsky BearLover Trotsky It is basic human psychology to look at a mathematical model that produces a counter-intuitive event probability and think "that model must be wrong." It could be wrong, of course, but the "mustness" of the feeling inverts reality. When a well-developed algorithm conflicts with your assessment of likelihood it's indicating that your braiby abmarks - Hockey

BearLover adamw imafrshmn... there's reason to believe that the CHN simulations don't really capture the low-probability outcomes as well as they should (which is to say it's all a little bit overconfident). Because KRACH ratings are assumed to be (1) constant, (2) unbiased, and (3) not-uncertain, there is no way to account for recent trends (like Clarkson tanking, for example), variations in luby abmarks - Hockey

Dafatone Robb Without doing the math, I assume it's best if one of them sweeps - I suspect they both stay above us with a split. I think our best bet is if St. Cloud sweeps. If the goal is to avoid the Sioux Falls regional (and assuming we get a 1 seed), we want there to be a 1 seed below us and not in North Dakota's conference. Minnesota State, Ohio State, and Notre Dame would all fit that bilby abmarks - Hockey

I'm not happy about the loss, but if we were going to have to eat a loss, this was a great time on the calendar to do it. Not only does it make clear that literally *any* team can beat you on a given night if you don't give max effort, but it is deep enough into the season that the taste of it will remain fresh for the rest of the season. Trotsky abmarksBut look at our SOS- I wouldn't be surprised if this is a factor in people believing we are the real deal at a national level. Trotsky In the 5 minutes I watched (after I figured out it was on ESPN2) there was no difference in quality of play between ND-Minny and Cornell-Harvard. Not tempo, beauty, skill, creativity of neither passing nor playmaking were any different. Really? Must be something about watching on TV vs in person. upprdeck I admit I'm not that worldly.. Perhaps if the app loaded it might have dawned on to look for a web version.
