Re: UND vs Cornell in Jan. - 14 years ago
TimVWhat Phil Collins tune do they play? In the air tonight, and they don't even come out on the ice at the drum solo. It actually got me anti-pumped up about the game.by Jacob '06 - Hockey
Re: UND vs Cornell in Jan. - 14 years ago
Larry72 I think you'll like Ithaca and Cornell. Lynah is VERY different from Engelstad. It's smaller and louder. The fans are closer to the action. Larry '72 And we have a band and don't play Phil Collins music while our team skates out. Still one of the weirdest things I've ever experienced.by Jacob '06 - Hockey

If you want food and drinks that are close to the game, Ruloff's in collegetown is a good bet. Its a typical bar & grill place so you have your burgers etc. A lot of people also like the nines further down college ave which has deep dish pizza, but typically very slow service so keep that in mind if you go there. For hotels it all depends how much you want to spend, but the best western on eaby Jacob '06 - Hockey
Re: Bitz article in the Boston Globe - 14 years ago
ugarteFrom what I remember of Bitz it couldn't have required too much encouraging to get him to hit and work the corners. That is the part of that article that I find hilarious. His minor league coach says that the reason he is in the NHL is that he goes against the boards and comes out with the puck. Sure sounds like he is using his Cornell training to his advantage to me.by Jacob '06 - Hockey
Re: Cornell-Syracuse Postgame - 14 years ago
I didn't specifically say that you had to have possession which I meant to. That is the only real difference between what I said and the rule as written.by Jacob '06 - Other Sports
Re: NCAA site sponsorships: What happens if you don't pay up? - 14 years ago
I imagine it is just an ad that is normally in Gilette, but that wasn't allowed up for the NCAAs. This always happens with them covering the board ads in the hockey regionals and frozen four.by Jacob '06 - Other Sports
Re: Cornell-Syracuse Postgame - 14 years ago
ugarteA lot of people have mentioned that Tambroni should have called time out to set up the clear but nobody has asked why nobody called time when Moyer got trapped at the midfield line. Would it have been legal for Siebald (for instance) to call time before Syracuse knocked the ball free, giving Cornell a restart with 15 or so seconds remaining? No, you have to wait until the ball gets past tby Jacob '06 - Other Sports

Greenberg '97kingpin248Rule 4, section 9 (Goal Not Allowed): m. If an attacking player deliberately leaves his feet by jumping or diving and his momentum carries him into the crease area, regardless of whether he lands in the crease before or after the ball enters the goal. From the replay, it looked like Nims' right foot stayed down the whole way. Really? I was led to believe the Gaitby Jacob '06 - Other Sports
Re: Cornell-Syracuse Postgame - 14 years ago
During the game I was yelling that they shouldn't use the timeout on that last clear until they got it in the box, but in hindsight it probably would have been a good idea to set up a good plan for the clear. The other time I think they may have used the timeout was the turnover before that when Lang was stuck in the box being the posession guy when he is normally a ssdm. He had to either get theby Jacob '06 - Other Sports
Re: Cornell vs. Syracuse - 14 years ago
Well I think after the Bemidji Grand Rapids fiasco I'm gonna be superstitious and not allow myself to go to the finals. Hopefully against Syracuse we can use the same game plan and slow the ball down and keep a lot of posession.by Jacob '06 - Other Sports

Don't really understand Glynn taking a faceoff up by 9 goals with 6 minutes left in the game.by Jacob '06 - Other Sports
Re: Cornell vs Virginia - 14 years ago
Well other than the issues at midfield on the clear, that was a great quarter for Cornell. If we can keep the posession game up for the rest of the game we should get a good result. They had some nice goals off of inside feeds in the first from the attackmen.by Jacob '06 - Other Sports
Re: Cornell vs Virginia - 14 years ago
I really wish our defenders would stop stopping right at the midline if there are enough people back. Just carry the ball up, give it to an attackman and then get back.by Jacob '06 - Other Sports
Re: [LAX] Final Four score updates SU v. Duke - 14 years ago
I don't know if anyone else caught this, but earlier in the game they were talking about how Quinzani banned the other players on the team from bringing their books along on the trip to study. The announcers didn't seem to think this was a big deal, but I think that is terrible. So much for the whole student-athlete thing.by Jacob '06 - Other Sports

Jeff Hopkins '82Just bought my ticket. I was #7300+. This thing may actually sell out. You think they are going to sell 5700 more by tomorrow? I think I'm going to stick with taking my chances on buying at the gate.by Jacob '06 - Other Sports

underskillhow far is the stadium from the LIRR stop? I'm assuming you get off in Hempstead? Google maps says ~1.4 miles of walking. I am going to be taking that route and now bringing along a princeton alum friend. Hopefully we are still friends on the way home.by Jacob '06 - Other Sports

DeltaOne81Jacob '06kingpin248According to the Princeton radio feed the Big Red and Tigers are playing at noon on Saturday. Cornell's website also says that we are playing in the noon game. Where? They've changed it since I posted that. Both the game summary article and the schedule page used to say the game was at 12. Now the game summary gives no time and the schedule says TBA. Re: MLax NCAAs 2009: Hobart @ Cornell (pregame) - 15 years ago
DeltaOne81Is it static-y for you too, Jacob? (wanna know if its just me) And yeah, looks like the justin.tv feeds we used for hockey have been shut down. I'm not aware of anything else. Yeah, its pretty grainy. Laxpower is linking to Hofstra's radio station for free, and I may be able to pick it up since I'm in manhattan so if the audio is crappy I may switch over.by Jacob '06 - Other Sports
