Re: Spelling - 22 years ago
I can't imagine why they wouldn't. The quality of your spelling and grammar - especially in a college application - says a lot about how much you care about detail. Beeeejby Beeeej - Hockey

Re: Uncle Ezra on Fish - 22 years ago
I'm assuming it's the same way people who can't do math get into Cornell. Beeeejby Beeeej - Hockey

The first time I tried to post a message with a URL and didn't put brackets around it, it came through as non-hot-linked, regular text. Beeeejby Beeeej - Hockey
Re: Uncle Ezra on Fish - 22 years ago
Ezra answered another question this week about the fish, with something probably a little closer to the balanced approach we'd have liked to see the first time: Beeeejby Beeeej - Hockey
Re: Saluting the crowd - 22 years ago
They didn't just do it after wins, they also did it - though perhaps a bit less enthusiastically - after losses. They still do. Beeeejby Beeeej - Hockey

I believe it started during the 1995-96 season with Schafer's arrival, though I can't say exactly which game. Beeeejby Beeeej - Hockey
Re: New Pep Band CD! - 22 years ago
It's never really occurred to me to associate "Gonna Fly Now" with anything other than a great song that the Pep Band plays really well, and that sounds great leading into "Rock and Roll, Part 2." I mean, really - while we're at it, shouldn't we replace "Rock and Roll, Part 2," since I now associate it mostly with Gary Glitter's conviction on child pornography chargby Beeeej - Hockey
Re: Question about Chris Higgins - 22 years ago
Although I don't like it when a recruit goes back on his word, I don't presume to know all the facts. It's entirely possible, for instance, that his parents live much closer to New Haven and his mom is very ill. (And believe it or not, there are plenty of people who choose Yale every year for reasons other than politics or networking. The casual sex, for instance.) Beeeejby Beeeej - Hockey

Re: Other stupid Cornell movie trivia - 22 years ago
You might also want to search the Uncle Ezra archives on Cornell's website to flesh out your Cornell movie trivia page; he's dealt with the issue a number of times, and although he's never produced a canonical, exhaustive list of movies filmed at, set at, or mentioning Cornell, he's come awful close a couple of times. Re: Penalty Killing - 22 years ago
Because it's bad math. You're adding fractions by adding the numerators and denominators, which is simply wrong - you can't add 2/3 and 2/5 and expect that the result should be 4/8. Beeeejby Beeeej - Hockey
Re: TSN - 22 years ago
The hockey scenes in "Love Story" were, according to my sources, filmed at Northeastern's rink. With Dartmouth's real hockey team playing all of Harvard's opponents (including Cornell). The outdoor scene filmed at Cornell - supposedly showing characters exiting our hockey rink - was filmed at Barton Hall. Beeeejby Beeeej - Hockey
Re: Ban Fish From Harvard? - 22 years ago
This is a great illustration of how traditions change over the years. Up until only about ten years ago, the "tradition" was to throw fish when Cornell scored on Harvard, but most people are surprised to learn that today. I suspect it changed because there were two or three Harvard games at Lynah in a row where we didn't score. Beeeejby Beeeej - Hockey

Re: Fish Tradition at USCHO - 22 years ago
If you're speaking of keeping time with the fight song after we score, I believe part of the problem can be attributed to whatever idiot has decided he should be blowing a big, plastic horn while the band is playing "Davy." It makes it harder to hear the song and keep in time with it (though I will also say it's partly that the Faithful are simply a little louder this year than they'veby Beeeej - Hockey

Re: Welcome to the eLynah Forum! - 22 years ago
Also, Age, it seems that the "Next Message" link doesn't always take you to the next message (vertically) in the thread as it did in the CHDF. Example: - Thread 1, Message 1 - Thread 1, Message 2 - Thread 1, Reply to Message 2 - Thread 1, Message 3 If I'm reading Reply to Message 2 and hit "Next Message," it often takes me to a completely separate thread instead of to Mesby Beeeej - Hockey
Re: The End of an Era - 22 years ago
I'll add my two cents to this love-fest: Kyle, you rock and you roll! I've been on the 'net now in one way or another for (ack!) fifteen years, and the signal-to-noise ratio and ease of use on the CHDF have consistently been just about the best I've ever seen. Especially since I moved to New York City a year and a half ago, the CHDF has been the single best way for me to continue feeling conneby Beeeej - Hockey
The real PP opportunity? - 22 years ago
Much was made before last weekend about Cornell having the #1 PP in the ECAC and Clarkson incurring the most penalty minutes. Granted, we did have a bunch of PPOs, but when looking at the ECAC stats today I noticed something interesting... Clarkson must have earned a lot of their minutes in majors, DQs or MCs, because Hahvahd has had far more actual penalties called on them - just not for as manby Beeeej - Hockey
Re: HARVARD SUCKS! - 22 years ago
You can have whatever opinion about the guy you like, but even in the worst of times I have almost never seen a Lynah usher "harass" a student who had not done something to earn his attention in the first place. So if you find him crotchety and have suffered his judgment, perhaps you just need to be asking yourself why - whether or not you agree with the rules it's his job to enforce.by Beeeej - Hockey
