They wouldn't outright fabricate -- too dangerous, no need, and I doubt they have the imagination. Of course we wouldn't outright fabricate, but -- HEY!! That's not nice. Beeeej Former Hackby Beeeej - Hockey

Saturday Yale game to be televised - 22 years ago
This info kindly provided by Laura Stange, our SID: -- This Saturday's (March 9) ECAC hockey playoff game between Cornell and Yale will be televised via NESN and Empire Sports. Saturday's game will NOT be televised in Ithaca on Time Warner Cable. The games are available via DirecTV (channel 623 (NESN) and 626 (Empire)), but you need to have the sports package to get the broadcast. NESN isby Beeeej - Hockey
Re: Underhill - 22 years ago
First SLU, now RPI. What is it with teams who finished a dozen points below us in the standings insisting that our guys know that those are better teams?! Beeeejby Beeeej - Hockey

The Quints (and we ain't talkin' Dionne here) - 22 years ago
Okay, I can live with Yale. They're not that good a team, as they proved by finishing 9-11-2 in the ECAC. They managed to put together two pretty good games against us, and we still came away with three points out of four. I think over a three-game series the right team will win. Do we have authoritative word yet on what time game 3 would be on Sunday if it has to be played? I'm horrifiedby Beeeej - Hockey
Re: goaltending possibilities - 22 years ago
Actually, I was just taking Bill's word for it that no Cornell tandem ever had a double 10-win season before. He did all the legwork, I just followed up after Lenny's tenth. Beeeejby Beeeej - Hockey
Re: goaltending possibilities - 22 years ago
Well, I'm sure this isn't the way we would've liked it to happen for the first time, but it really does bear mentioning: For the first time in its history, the Big Red has two 10-game winning goalies in a season. Beeeejby Beeeej - Hockey
Re: @ union / Saturday, March 2nd - 22 years ago
Those of you going to, or listening to, the game - please cheer extra loudly for me, folks, I actually won't be able to listen tonight! With any luck, I'll be recovered enough to drive up for next weekend's Quintafinals. Man, it makes me nervous listening to all this talk about Placid. Then again, I've already got a hotel room... Leneveu is in goal; according to USCHO, Underhill "went down hard" during warmups. Beeeejby Beeeej - Hockey

Can I just say that it's incredibly cool of my aunt and uncle to leave me a DSL connection for listening to tonight's game while I'm housesitting/convalescing? Beeeejby Beeeej - Hockey

Re: Cornell in New York Times - 22 years ago
I'll do you one better and bring you the original. Beeeej P.S. An original copy of the Times, that is, not the writer's notes. Though that would be an interesting challenge.by Beeeej - Hockey
Re: Cornell in SI - 22 years ago
Thanks, Mark - it's always nice to see a friendly face from a rival school. The two games at BU this fall are among my fondest Cornell hockey memories ever (except for my hangover on Saturday), and I think a rubber match in Worcester would be exciting as heck. I'd be sorry to see BU go home instead of to St. Paul, though. Beeeejby Beeeej - Hockey
Re: Cornell in New York Times - 22 years ago
Thanks for pointing it out, Prong. It's a great article - it focuses on how hard the guys fought for respect after being picked 3rd and 6th in the coaches/media polls respectively, pre-season. But it'd be nice if they hadn't spelled Coach's name "Schaefer" all four times they quoted or mentioned him. Beeeejby Beeeej - Hockey

Vicodin Is Your Friend - 22 years ago
You just know your surgery's going to go well when the anaesthesiologist is wheeling your stretcher down the hall to the OR, and in the course of your conversation you discover that he's Cornell class of '89 and a huge hockey fan, and brings his wife up to Ithaca for a game every year (he was at the 3-2 win over Yale a few weeks ago). We talked about Nieuwendyk until I fell asleep. Beeeejby Beeeej - Hockey
Re: Titles - 22 years ago
I can't imagine why they'd start now if they never put up banners for the first four RS titles we won. And John - none of the banners are more than five years old. Beeeejby Beeeej - Hockey
