Re: Bracketology 2016-17 Style - 7 years ago
Is there any benefit (Pairwise speaking) to finishing fifth in the league and picking up two extra (seemingly easy) wins? I understand the benefit of a bye week and home ice in the quarterfinals, just kind of brain storming.by CU2007 - Hockey

ugarte CU2007 I have a feeling we'll be watching championship weekends praying that a team in the top 14 of PWR wins the Hockey East, Big 10 and NCHC tourneysOh cool, an optimist. Well given our current position, it wouldn't matter. So yes, you could easily argue that it is optimistic.by CU2007 - Hockey

andyw2100 CU2007 andyw2100 Are any of the networks that we know are broadcasting the game available for free via Roku? I use an app called TV Cast (the logo is a white monitor on a light blue background) that has worked seamlessly through Roku to mirror whatever you have on your iphone/ipad etc. Then you can just go to the Union URL through the app and be good to go. Hope that helps. Thanks.by CU2007 - Hockey

Weder Just noticed that the Feb. 3 game at Union has been pushed back to 8:30 p.m. (Maybe for TV? The Union site lists the game as an American Sports Network broadcast.) Game got picked up by TSN2 - Canadian version of ESPN2 - Maybe useful exposure to recruits?by CU2007 - Hockey

Re: Hahvahd @ Cornell 01/27/17 - 7 years ago
upprdeck interesting that to buy Harvard tickets you need to buy a 4 game pack for $80.. This is really just Cornell catching up to the ticketing landscape in general. For years, MLB teams have jammed random Tuesday afternoon games (that typically wouldn't sell) into highly desirable plans like a Saturday plan.by CU2007 - Hockey

Trotsky Who has actually played an NHL game this year? Moulson and... anybody else? Brings up an interesting thought. On whom would you place your money as the next Cornellian to play an NHL Game? Greening? Bardreau? Angello? I think I might take Joakim Ryan.by CU2007 - Hockey
Re: Bracketology 2016-17 Style - 7 years ago
adamw upprdeck first, just get in.. second, win enough to get a east cost seed. Getting an Eastern seed is not contingent upon more winning, really. Indeed. Also the avoid conference matchups and increase attendance decrees can really harm a team. See 2003, when we were #1 overall but didn't get a cupcake from the MAAC or CHA in the first round. Schafer was not happy.by CU2007 - Hockey

Jeff Hopkins '82 I'd love to see us play Penn State at the Linc in Philly. Or maybe do a home and home - the two schools aren't very far apart. Or just at the Wells Fargo Center ... Quick trip from the NYC metro area and not too far from Ithaca itself. Lot of PSU alums and fans in Philly, bet there'd be a great crowd.by CU2007 - Hockey

abmarks BearLover Is it possible starting the season later actually gives Cornell a leg up on the competition out of the gate? Fewer injuries/better rested? I thought we had a ton of injuries tho...? scoop85 For those looking for some non-NHL hockey during the break, we have a number of guys playing in the World Junior A Tournament. Alex Limoges and Alex Green are playing for the U.S., which is 1-1 after beating Canada East 3-1 last night (the U.S. dominated, as the Canada East goalie stood on his head to keep it from 6-1) following a 1-0 upset loss to the Czechs in the first game. Thought the announcer was great - very professional compared to some of the garbage we've been forced to listen to (Dartmouth comes to mind). Also thought the production was good - crisp camera changes, succinct replays. But, I did keep getting weird clips from The Office in the middle of the play. What was that?by CU2007 - Hockey

Re: Lynah Rink Review - 7 years ago
Stadium_Visits Hey everyone...I have a passion for sports travel and visiting various arenas and stadiums around the country. They are reviewed on my website and I just got back from a trip to Ithaca, having gone to a hockey game last Saturday. It's tough to get all the nuances of an arena and an average feel for a crowd in just one visit, so I'm curious from those that are familiar with Lynah Riby CU2007 - Hockey

Trotsky Jim HylaMy biggest concern is, why do we have so many pre and early season injuries? Do they practice too hard, or is it a fluke? Two of the injuries don't appear to be in any way related to training, weight room, practice, etc. One is a chronic issue that simply continued to worsen. One was just a dumb mistake. Injuries seem to be more prevalent now but (1) we probably always thinby CU2007 - Hockey
