Re: NCAA Ticket Info - 7 years ago
Seems it might be worth considering just buying the Saturday game and then (assuming we win) trying to buy on the cheap from dejected Lowell fans on the way out of the arena (or the second loser later on). This assumes you have no interest in watching Lowell - Minny/ND.by CU2007 - Hockey

Re: Bracketology 2016-17 Style - 7 years ago
I would have thought Cornell would be a slight favorite against a banged-up WMU squad coming east, while probably a slight underdog against Lowell 20 minutes (or whatever) from their campus. That said, I'd rather (potentially) get Minnesota than Harvard, so I'll call it a wash. Just win, baby.by CU2007 - Hockey
Re: Bracketology 2016-17 Style - 7 years ago
Hooking Statistically, how much tougher an opponent is UML than WMU? One spot in the pairwise? I think WMU would have been a significantly better matchup for us (though obviously not easy). Lowell is GOOD and was really hot down the stretch.by CU2007 - Hockey

Apologies for being clueless, but is SNY carried nationwide on Directv? I see it listed as channel 639. Does that mean anywhere in the US with Directv will be able to show the game - like a random bar in California?by CU2007 - Hockey
Re: no school for 2 days - 7 years ago
Dafatone Roy 82 No school for two days? When I was in school we walked 10 miles through snow so deep we needed straws to breathe. And we liked it. Seriously, I don't recall classes ever being cancelled back in the 80s. Maybe it is just my bad memory. We had a cancellation my senior year (2006-07) and I remember it being the first one in a decade or two. I'm probably wrong, though. Yep,by CU2007 - Hockey
Re: Hockey Broadcasts 2016-17 - 7 years ago
Trotsky So, um... who is actually carrying these games? ILDN is not. Boxcast has 2016 links up and is in general a hot mess. I can't find anything to do with this year's games from any round of the tourney. Edit: Evidently the boxcast link will become available via the ECAC site: Cost is $9.95 and video is scheduled to begin at 6:45. Makes me a little less confident it will show up onby CU2007 - Hockey
Re: Hockey Broadcasts 2016-17 - 7 years ago
There is indeed a boxcast channel for Roku - I added it last night. I wasn't able to find the game by searching "Cornell", "ECAC", etc. but I'm hoping it appears tonight. Seems BoxCast mostly just broadcasts those bizzare super-church services with the jumbotrons and the hooterin and hollerin.by CU2007 - Hockey

wakester2468 For weeks and for that matter years, Jason Moy in calculating Bracketology and the 16 teams to qualify for the NCAA"s, finds it necessary to give an automatic bid to the team that is currently in 1st place in their conference. Does this assume that they will win their conference playoffs and get an automatic bid? This the case with BC yet not the same with Canisius albeit thby CU2007 - Hockey

Re: Hockey Broadcasts 2016-17 - 7 years ago
This may have been posted elsewhere but: TELEVISION ECAC Hockey has partnered with American Sports Network (ASN) to televise the 2017 semifinals and championship game March 17-18 at the 1980 Rink - Herb Brooks Arena, Lake Placid N.Y. Eric Frede will be the play-by-play announcer with Colby Cohen providing color commentary. Find the ASN channel in your area below for the Championshipby CU2007 - Hockey

Worth pointing out that St. Cloud has to head to Denver for two games this weekend, where a sweep would put them back under .500 but a win might drastically improve their RPI.by CU2007 - Hockey
Re: Pair wise Issues - 7 years ago
The selection committee doesn't actually have to follow the pairwise, right? So presumably they could boot St. Cloud out if they are a .500 team but they are something like 14th in the PWR?by CU2007 - Hockey
Re: Looking Ahead - 7 years ago
Trotsky BearLover Obviously getting a bye is our biggest concern, but finishing 3rd instead of 4th and thereby dodging Q would also be big. It would also mean avoiding 1 in the SF, and with this logjam the 1 is likely the team that gets very hot late. Of course, the ideal solution is to be that team. ...and we come full circle to "Just win, baby"by CU2007 - Hockey
Re: This Weekend's Games Rescheduled - 7 years ago
upprdeck I take the perspective that there is no outcome of that game that doesnt help us in some way. its really unclear which one helps us the most. my head says a harvard win does, since we still play union again, but my heart has a hard time with that thought. Also depends on what you view as the ideal outcome. I would imagine there's an outcome that makes us more likely to finish third, buby CU2007 - Hockey

Re: Bracketology 2016-17 Style - 7 years ago
All fair points. I'm not an expert on the calculations, so it was more just the thought that you'd be given the opportunity to win two extra games that popped into my mind and then presumably end up in the same 4-5 quarterfinal, albeit on the road.by CU2007 - Hockey
