The camera guy standing by me told me during the review that the officials upstairs called it a goal. As for what the conversation was on the ice... I have no idea. My only theory is that BU guaranteed the refs to admit their kids to that second tier institution, and that's why 4 out of 5 calls on the ice were in favor of the Terriers. They do not deserve the win.by ajh258 - Hockey

Cornell vs. Boston University Dave's pick: Cornell may be atop the ECAC, but I don't care. I really like the way BU has been playing of late. BU 4 Cornell 2 Jim's pick: Red Hot Hockey once again lives up to its name. BU 5, Cornell 4 (OT) Those HEA pricks think they can beat us. Let's get 'em today! GO RED!by ajh258 - Hockey

mikek Aaron M. Griffin Give Joshua Boyd a break. We all cannot be as astute as we commentators on ELynah are. It's also Boyd's first year following the ECAC. He has many things to learn. I want to give the guy a break, but I find it hard to when he writes things like this in the ECAC picks column: Joshua Boyd Josh: Yikes. Re: Niagara Sucks - 12 years ago
IMO, MVP of tonight's game: Iles D'Agostino Ferlin D looked good, both on even strength and PK, and that was the only reason we kept Niagara at bay. Niagara was obviously less skilled, which gave us a lot of chances in mid-ice, although we couldn't capitalize in the first two periods. Too bad about Yale and Brown, this is gonna hurt our PWR a bit. Hopefully it wouldn't be that big ofby ajh258 - Hockey
Re: Niagara Sucks - 12 years ago
Very sloppy first period. Most of the players looked tired. Ferlin is still looking strong, and so are a few others. This team can't score unless everyone is firing on all cylinders.by ajh258 - Hockey

css228 Up to 17th in the USCHO poll. Kinda surprised there's so little upward movement in a weekend with two 4-0 shutouts. At the end of the day, polls don't mean anything because it's all about the PairWise.by ajh258 - Hockey
Re: lles is not the answer - 12 years ago
ithacat ajh258 Scrivens was the answer, so if Iles gets the ECAC Championship and then into the Forzen Fours, then he will become the answer. I appreciate everything Scrivens did while at Cornell, but I must have missed those Frozen Fours. Scrivens didn't have the firing power that Iles has now, so the bar must be set higher.by ajh258 - Hockey

d Tied at 10th on PairWise. Last time we were this high up was probably 2007-08 (not really sure about this). If we beat Niagara on Tuesday and BU on Saturday, I'm going to throw the biggest afterparty in NYC. Edit: I might be thinking 05-06.by ajh258 - Hockey

Re: Princeton Post-Game Chest Thumping - 12 years ago
css228 ajh258 Jim HylaAside from Too Many Men, they played a period like they should have at Brown and Mercyhurst. Shut the other team down first and take what you can. I'm really impressed at how well the team seems to take to Schafer's instruction. These last 3 games should have shown them that they can still generate offense and more importantly win, by playing good defense first. I agree. Aby ajh258 - Hockey

snert1288I'm one who has never complained about an offensively slow, defense first team. This team is not as quick as Yale, but I wouldn't call them slow, offensively or defensively. It's not last year's team, that's for sure.by ajh258 - Hockey

scoop85 Scersk '97 ScrewBU Big and slow is no way to go. Cornell's slide into obscurity continues. So you didn't watch the game? Neat. The D needs work, missing coverages all night long. The O looks further along than they usually are at this point. So, given that I am very sure that Schafer teams eventually lock down defensively, I'm not too worried. I didn't see the game either, buby ajh258 - Hockey

TimV Just read yor post, clicked the link, and saw Dartmouth just beat Yale 3-2. Look out for Dartmouth.I think it's a mistake. The game isn't set to start until 7PM. Edit: Hmm... now double checking on ECAC's site, it appears they have filled the Princeton-Brown stats into the Yale-Dartmouth box scores. Those numbers aren't accurate.by ajh258 - Hockey
Re: CU Hockey-Preseason - 12 years ago
nyc94 ajh258 Looks like this isn't the same Yale team we saw last year. 2-2 OT against Princeton, 30-28 SOGs. Yale also lost their exhibition game against Waterloo last weekend. Yale had a 42-32 shot advantage and they started a different goalie in each period. I was aware, but Waterloo was an exhibition opener, so the outcome could've been skewed if Allain simply wanted the new guys to getby ajh258 - Hockey

billhoward pfibiger From: Mike Schafer Head coach Mike Schafer ’86 was pleased to get all three goalies playing experience this weekend, but noted, “Andy is our No. 1. We know that as a coaching staff.” Maybe someone should forward the thread to the coaching staff so they have the benefit of our collective insights. They may have been blinded by seeing Iles too often. As Malcolm Gladwell noteby ajh258 - Hockey
