Iles improved as the game went on tonight against Carleton, although he didn't face that many shots on goal (I think Carleton had 2 for the 1st period? The box scores are not out yet).by ajh258 - Hockey
Re: lles is not the answer - 12 years ago
Jim Hyla By questionable I meant most worrisome. I agree coach needs to pick out the forwards to dress, but that's between top prospects. The goalie position may be our weakest. Agreed. The freshmen looked very good for their experience level. I wouldn't be surprised if one or two of them make the top 5 scorers for the year (if not more).by ajh258 - Hockey
Re: lles is not the answer - 12 years ago
CAS I'm sure Schafer plays the guys who he believes give us the best chance to win. To suggest he makes decisions based on other criteria is ridiculous. And its not just Schafer who has great confidence in Andy. The coaches of the US World Juniors team speak very highly of him. In Schafer I trust! They must be blind. I am not the only one who holds the opinion that Iles looked worse than Garmaby ajh258 - Hockey
Re: CU Hockey-Preseason - 12 years ago
BearLover Any observations from tonight's game? (It's still the Preseason, so I didn't feel it was necessary to create a new thread.) How'd the freshmen look?Great! Bardreau scored a goal at the end of the 1st, and Lowry (who started first line) looked fierce on the ice although he was -1 for the night. Ferlin and Dias were also freshmen I noticed who skated well. MVP for the night would beby ajh258 - Hockey
Re: lles is not the answer - 12 years ago
Iles keeps pulling what me and my friends call "the Scrivens" - basically crazy moves that unnecessarily increase the risk of letting the puck get by. He often shows a lack of fundamentals in his stance/maneuvers and his size does not play to his advantage, so it doesn't matter how "skilled" you think he is. If he can't defend some basic warp arounds because he's feeling advenby ajh258 - Hockey

Re: Preseason Poll - 9/26/11 - 12 years ago
Jim Hyla ajh258 I don't quite agree with where Yale and BU are placed and I think Union holding the 11th spot is shaky at best. UNH should be higher and RPI should be lower. Clearly the people who did these polls based their 10th+ votes on last year's outcome, not necessarily the team's performance this year. Polls don't mean anything in hockey anyways...But then again it's hard to base anythby ajh258 - Hockey

ursusminor Al DeFlorio ursusminor Jim Hyla ursusminor RPI blog Without a Peer post about Cornell .Without a PeerDoes Cornell play exceptionally boring hockey? Their fans will deny it to the death ("nothing boring about winning!", but yes, they do. So we beat them 5-1 at home (28-22 shots ) and 3-2 in OT there (23-33 shots ), and we're the boring team? Jim Hyla ajh258 Crowded and ugly. If you look on the men's ice hockey page, it's clear that the site wasn't set up properly for all the old data. I liked the old one better without the "flashiness."What old data are you talking about? I'm talking about the old articles. Re: 2011-12 student season tickets - 12 years ago
kingpin248 ajh258 Well... the tickets are cheaper now, but not by much. $234 is down from $254 last season. Looks like section B remains to be assigned seating. The tickets cost less because there are two fewer games than last year. The per-game price remains the same ($13). Yep. Never meant to imply it was cheaper per game. Also, I realized I quoted the wrong ticket price for last year (shouby ajh258 - Hockey

amerks127 RichH ajh258 What if the current pairs don't change and Ivies just have to play one of the non-Ivies teams like Quinnipiac and Colgate during week 1 or 2? Re: Ivy League Lacrosse Tournament - 13 years ago
Al DeFlorio Swampy KenP So what was illegal about the Harvard player's stick? How did we know to ask? If it was a legal stick would we have been charged with a "delay of game" or similar penalty? It's not clear that we asked. The Harvard player kept the ball in his stick through a half-dozen checks and, if I recall correctly, rolling on the ground.
