Re: Tamboni to Penn State - 13 years ago
mnagowski Lastly, you're right about the $200k example, I was exaggerating. I just wished people at Day had a bit more guts to make changes rather than sticking to the status quo. It's an oft observe shortfall of groups and bureaucracies. I think Day Hall would have the guts to make more changes if they controlled more of the money. Right now everything but Arts and Engineering is like a separaby ajh258 - Other Sports

mnagowski As an ILRie, I see this as an HR problem. If we maintain our current policies, Cornell will merely be a funnel for other institutions who are willing to pay higher salaries for more achieved faculty. It is an HR problem or an athletic policies problem? Maybe it's an athletics HR problem? As an ILRie, I see this as an HR problem. If we maintain our current policies, Cornell will merely be a funnel for other institutions who are willing to pay higher salaries for more achieved faculty. A lot of our funding are wasted in the unnecessarily-bureaucratic nature of this institution, and the administration moves too slowly to correct these structural errors. Re: Potential NCAA Rule Changes - 13 years ago
Josh '99 KeithK And what about this: Altered the delayed-penalty rule to provide the non-offending team a power play, even if a goal is scored during the delay. So you can score a six on five goal on a delayed penalty and then still get a penalty. Why?Because GOALS GOALS GOALS GOALS GOALS!!!!!!While these rule changes tend to favor more offensive teams, what the NCAA (any may other professionalby ajh258 - Hockey

Re: Riley May Be Traded - 13 years ago
Jacob '06 Why would anyone trade for him before he is signed if he can just wait out and become a free agent if he plays his senior year? Because Montreal wants exclusivity and Riley wants to make sure that he starts making money this year? Being a free agent doesn't mean he will get a better contract than what Montreal is willing to offer. The only reason he hasn't signed with the Oilers is becaby ajh258 - Hockey

Correct me if I'm wrong, but can't Montreal trade right now and then they'll get Riley immediately if he's willing to sign? Why would Nash wait through next year if this trade is happening soon?by ajh258 - Hockey

Re: Graduation Day Reflections - 13 years ago
Congratulations Elie and Mitch. You guys introduced me to my first away games and are the reason that I drove to places like Estero and Hanover - I cannot thank you enough for that. Although your days as undergrads are at an end, this is not farewell quite yet. Evident by the alumni before us, Lynah unites us all and will bring us back together. Laing Kennedy Retiring from KSU - 14 years ago
This just out: Kent State University athletics director and former Cornell athletics director, Laing Kennedy '63 is retiring next month. No question, Kennedy can pick coaches. He can nurture young men and women into adults. He can move conflicting personalities toward pursuing a common goal. Congratulations Laing and wish you the best of luck.by ajh258 - Other Sports
Re: Traveling to Stony Brook? - 14 years ago
If you take 495 East until exit 58(N) then all the way up Nichols(NICHOLLS!) Rd, the traffic is usually ok if it's before noon (no one goes to church anymore). Campus is right off Nichols Rd and the stadium is just a few turns from the main gate so you don't have to worry about local traffic around the morning. heykb I ran into an Ottawa Senators scout in the hotel after the UHN loss. They have the rights to Colin Greening. The scout said a couple of interesting things. Tom Lento Do you seriously believe that Yale could get away with a bad game from one of its top two lines? Yale, with its complete and total lack of defense and goaltending and an entire system predicated on sustaining an aggressive forecheck, generating chances off turnovers, and relying on its forwards to disrupt the other team's ability to move the puck across all three zones?
