Re: Cornell's website - 13 years ago
Rita ugarte Please compare this to this. Man, I have thought this so many times. So true. I would add in the "what people want" part of the diagram, athletic schedule/on-line accessibility and scores. But that is just me. How did I not now about xkcd comics? Just what I need, another on-line time sink . XKCD has been a staple in Cornell students humor lives for quite awhile.by munchkin - John Spencer Is Dead

Re: Potential NCAA Rule Changes - 13 years ago
Brian wrote two posts about the rule changes yesterday and today. The first one is about the icing and has some good interviews with people directly involved and the other examines all the rules up for consideration and the idea behind the rule and what will be affected. I particularly liked the Might We Propose one since it hits all the rule changes not just the ones that are currently gettingby munchkin - Hockey

Washington Capitals Twitter Feed Ray Sawada puts the Stars ahead 3-1 late in the 1st on a nice 2 on 1 play. Long breakout pass beats a pinching Carlson at the red line. I'm a little conflicted here. I'm a Bears fan since I'm from DC and they are, of course, the AHL affiliate of the Caps, but it's Sawada and seeing his name made me smile a little. Edit: Not so conflicted now that the Bearsby munchkin - Hockey

People from other schools are even talking about this over on USCHO. I'll probably go since it's easily Amtrakable/Bolt Busable, but I'd still prefer to be at MSG every year alternating BU with another school, which is what Schafer wants as I overheard him figuring out with the NoDak coach when they'd next be able to come east since they're already committed through 2013.by munchkin - Hockey

Re: Potential NCAA Rule Changes - 13 years ago
Clearing the puck during a penalty should not be removed. While no, it isn't always iced, but in many cases to get the puck out of the zone and get a quick line change it's hurled down to the other end. Even the NHL doesn't go as far as stopping short handed teams from icing.by munchkin - Hockey

Re: Greek life at Princeton: booze, social stratification, hazing - 14 years ago
A few differences between the campuses: Cornell requires that students wait until the Spring to pledge. We also don't segregate into eating clubs on top of becoming Greek. This anecdote is based on high school classmates of mine who were class of '09 at Princeton: they have far fewer campus/dorm/RA organized social events. In part, that's because they don't congregate to centralized dining halby munchkin - John Spencer Is Dead

Beeeej Currently reading Jonathan Lethem's "Chronic City" and enjoying it, but particularly for the NYC landmarks very familiar to me. Just finished Curtis Sittenfeld's "Prep," and enjoyed it but wouldn't say it was fine literature. Prep was beach reading for me. Sittenfeld has some other beach lit, which as you said not fine literature, but still enjoyable to read.by munchkin - John Spencer Is Dead
