Re: Schoellkopf Field to get new video scoreboard - 12 years ago
CUontheslopes billhoward Yes, when the band splits up and plays from different sections, there is an element of "hey, look at me, I'm showing off." Still, it's entertaining. It's annoying, distracting and self-absorbed. No one but the band (or perhaps some of you band alums) likes it. I'd take 1,000 clap meters before I had to hear annoying blare of trumpets serenading each other acrby imafrshmn - Other Sports
Re: Schoellkopf Field to get new video scoreboard - 12 years ago
billhoward I for one would trade Lynah and its traditional scoreboard with the missing pixels (burned out bulbs) for the Quinnipiac rink or BU's rink. HERESY!!!by imafrshmn - Other Sports
Re: Cornell 24 Bucknell 13 football 9/17/11 - 12 years ago
The O and D lines appear markedly improved from last season. So long as those guys can stay healthy, it should give Cornell a chance to be competitive in most of its games. Based on yesterday's results from Ivy teams, the league could have more parity this year than in recent years. Things are definitely looking up for CU football.by imafrshmn - Other Sports

Roy 82 Heard during the recent Sharks vs Kings broadcast: "Dustin Brown passes it down" Not too creative compared some of the others but at least it has ties to Ithaca. Kudos for the thread resurrection!by imafrshmn - Hockey

I don't know how much the quality of the playing surface plays into the venue discussion at the league office, but geez that ice was horrendous.by imafrshmn - Hockey
Re: Cornell 7 Dartmouth 1 (W as if you had to ask) - 13 years ago
incredible game, incredible fan support. my voice is pretty much shot! with mercyhurst falling to bu, i really like our chances of making it to the finals. go red!by imafrshmn - Hockey
Re: Women's Season Stuff - 13 years ago
ACM ACM snert1288 it was just announced that Cornell will be hosting Dartmouth in the first round of the NCAA tournament. the other teams on our side of the bracket are BU and Mercyhurst. as far as i know the game time has not yet been announced. Women's hockey page on Facebook thinks the game will be Saturday at 3pm. However, Athletics Department is equivocating: http://www.cornellbigred.by imafrshmn - Hockey

NCAA Tourney Bracket: Minnesota-Duluth @ (1) Wisconsin Minnesota @ (4) Boston College Dartmouth @ (2) Cornell Mercyhurst @ (3) Boston University I am completely shocked by the committee's decision. Ugh.by imafrshmn - Hockey

hockeychick470 Did they break that attendance record? Brandon Thomas's tweet: Attendance today was 2,711 ... a new program recordby imafrshmn - Hockey
Re: 2/23 ECAC playoff game on RedCast 7 pm - 13 years ago
Jim Hyla W up 1-0 end of first. Nice shot of scoreboard, must be troubles with it? It keeps fading in and out. I think that's just the result of the flickering of the scoreboard lights occuring at a similar rate as the camera framerate and coming in and out of phase.by imafrshmn - Hockey
Redcast List of "Grievances" (suggestions) - 13 years ago
Hi Elfers. I proposed in another thread that we put together a concrete list of things we would like to see fixed or improved with Redcast as well as suggestions or comments as to how to achieve it. Redcast gets talked about in plenty of game threads where people rant about it tangentially, so I think it would be productive to make it a thread of its own. Perhaps this could lead to some dialogby imafrshmn - Hockey
Re: RPI 2 Cornell 3 (W) Redcast Sucks - 13 years ago
mattj711 I complained regarding the feed ending after regulation. They eventually turned it back on after the game was over. I was hoping it was just a technical issue maybe so I checked out the archived tape and it also ends mid-way through the intermission before OT. Did you find out what the problem was? Did the operator think the game was over and start putting things away? In anyby imafrshmn - Hockey
Re: RPI 2 Cornell 3 (W) Redcast Sucks - 13 years ago
I'm ecstatic over the win, but annoyed as hell with RedCast. I think we ought to put a petition out from the Elynah community saying petition signatories will boycott them next year unless they work to put a decent video product out.by imafrshmn - Hockey
Re: Harvard 4, Cornell 3, Final - 13 years ago
A few years ago, while I was still a student jammed into the Section A sardine case, a couple superfans in the section (BMac, I'm talking to you!!) did a nice little instructional skit before the game in front of everyone where they held up signs demonstrating the proper etiquette (have everyone hold up their newspapers while the fish are thrown so nobody will get caught) and time (once only, wheby imafrshmn - Hockey
Re: Women's Season Stuff - 13 years ago
Biggest win on the season for the Red! Also, in my estimation, this game offers solid evidence that freshman goaltender Lauren Slebodnick could be a future star. With Amanda Mazzotta still out healing her hurt foot, to have this kind of depth at the goalie position was huge. Congrats ladies.by imafrshmn - Hockey
Re: Cornell 3 Clarkson 0 (w) - 13 years ago
Clarkson's hard forechecking gave us some fits in the first period, but we adjusted well thereafter. Refereeing was a bit too lax for the Lynah Faithful's tastes this afernoon. Our powerplay has improved since last week; they are getting more puck movement, foot movement, and low presence. Our 2nd and 3rd period defense was very solid, allowing very few real chances and not making some of theby imafrshmn - Hockey

Re: Cornell 3 Mercyhurst 4 (W) - 13 years ago
yeah, that video was god awful. This game was a great test for our defense. They will learn how to play aggressively while still being responsible at the other end of the ice. Derraugh has work yet to be done in teaching and honing our systems. Both cornell and mercyhurst look to be very competitive this year, and could again meet in the frozen four.by imafrshmn - Hockey

Re: Red/White - 13 years ago
KeithK underskill hockey w/o checking isn't hockey.Of course it's hockey. It's just not as much fun to watch. (Probably not as much fun to play either, assuming you know how to take a check.) A lot of the women's team players will tell you that they would prefer hitting, with some of them having grown up playing with boys.by imafrshmn - Hockey
Re: The Jersey - 13 years ago
tbillhoward Is there also a deeper, more Harvard Crimson-like hue to the jerseys? Maybe it's just us and the players like how the jerseys are styled (maybe). Feedback from somebody less than 5 years out of Cornell? the jerseys they got stuck with look to me like the same design that the women's team wears. aside from the similarity to BU, i don't think they are all that bad. at least it's notby imafrshmn - Hockey
Re: Cornell video subscription - 13 years ago
upprdeck Has anyone else noticed they got rid of the hockey only subscription? trying to force an all event package i guess. On the Athletics website (not the Redcast frame) they list the single-sport season subscription as an option. So, it's possible that the lack of a single sport season pass option on Redcast is a mistake. Either way, I think there is a legitimate reason to demand that paby imafrshmn - Hockey

Of the 8 CU players invited to the Canada National Team 4 Nations Cup camp (the same women who played for the U22 team in August), 2 were selected for the cup roster: Rebecca Johnston and freshman Brianne Jenner. Congratulations to them both!by imafrshmn - Hockey

Jordan 04 I was going to post about that, but I figured it's probably meaningless. All coaches who leave say they forward to the next season. This is true.by imafrshmn - Other Sports
Re: Cornell Women's Hockey - 14 years ago
mattj711 Rumors have Marie Philip Poulin looking at Cornell, Wisconsin, St. Lawrence, Boston U. and a 5th unnamed school. If Cornell is able to land her, they will be EXTREMELY (as opposed to just extremely) good next year. I'm just glad she isn't looking at Hahvahd. Agreed though, if we do land her, the Big Red will be Team Canada-South.by imafrshmn - Hockey
Re: Odds that Donahue stays? - 14 years ago
Email from Coach Donahue Dear Big Red Basketball Fans, I know we were called the underdog, the Cinderella, the long shot, the feel-good story of the Sweet Sixteen. Well, we may have been all those things. But first and foremost, we were, and of course still are, Cornellians. And that is what made us great on and off the court--it was that Big Red spirit and work ethic that got us to the Sweetby imafrshmn - Other Sports
