Discussions about the Cornell men's and women's hockey teams
Re: Amanda Mazzotta - Awesome Goalie - 14 years ago
munchkin Scrivens' gf is Jenny Niesluchowski, not Amanda Mazzotta. Spoken like a seasoned groupie.by imafrshmn - Hockey
Re: Amanda Mazzotta - Awesome Goalie - 14 years ago
Trotsky ugarte You couldn't be creating less controversy. Ben Scrivens hasn't given up a goal in three games. She isn't the best Cornell goalkeeper right now. They are (AFAIK) a couple. So they could MAKE the greatest goaltender ever, unt rule ze vurld! Pretty sure that Scrivens's girlfriend is a former women's team goalie who left the team before this season. You can figure it out from theby imafrshmn - Hockey

ajh258 This is what I have so far. I need to go to bed soon, but it's a star off point. Note: this is not finished, so if you have suggestions let me know. Don't know if you were planning on it or not, but retaining some scruffiness would be nice.by imafrshmn - Hockey
Re: Dream-Crushing, Soul-Devouring Juggernaut Shirts - 14 years ago
Pretty good design. Critiques: The front side looks like a generic tshirt you can pick up at the Cornell store or Bear Necessities in Collegetown. The bear on the back really looks more like a tiger. I know it's hard to find good graphics, but keep trying!by imafrshmn - Hockey
Re: Cornell vs. Union - 14 years ago
Scrivens's continuous shutout time is now an ECAC record, according to the USCHO article by that Klump character, surpassing Mark "Dexshow" Dekanich, who was one of our favorite sieves to heckle from section A during my time.by imafrshmn - Hockey
Re: USCHO Picks Union - 14 years ago
Rita Roy 82 Apparently. Jason Klump says in his blog that Cornell fans as usual cannot win with class because they did a Winning team-Losing team cheer. What were we supposed to do, give the Union players a certificate of participation, a pat on the back and an "atta boy"? This was a hockey game not some tea-party (the one with tea and scones, not the political one ). In the USby imafrshmn - Hockey

KeithK At the end of the day you don't sell newspapers (or get page hits) writing about things that the readers don't care about. That's what matters. Journalism is a business and you have to cater to your customers. If all news outlets cared about was profits, our democracy would be in terrible shape. Oh wait...by imafrshmn - Other Sports
Re: Harvard 0 at Cornell 3 Game 2 Postgame - 14 years ago
BCrespi More than anything though, that kid just gets it. I'll miss him for that even more than his play. Agreed. As someone who's had some conversations with Ben over the years, I can attest to his ability to put his own athletic involvement in its proper perspective. It's much in the same way that Jon Jacques (men's basketball) has melded an insider's and an outsider's perspective on Cornby imafrshmn - Hockey
Re: Harvard 0 at Cornell 3 Game 2 Postgame - 14 years ago
The last time the fans went on the ice was after Matt Moulson scored to end the second 2OT QF against Clarkson in 2006. I don't know why it hasn't happened since, and I think it's a shame. The players are our fellow students, and I think not letting them celebrate with the student faithful is an unwise social barrier. The team is enough in their own world, socially, as it is.by imafrshmn - Hockey
Re: HARVARD SUCKS - 14 years ago
It's not right to call these potential fish throwers morons. If they aren't ELF readers, how can you expect them to know what the right thing to do is in this unprecedented (I think) situation. I personally don't think it will be a problem when some people likely throw fish this weekend. Who says you can't have more than one "fish game" in a season? Oh right, ELFers say that as if iby imafrshmn - Hockey
Re: Cornell Women's Hockey - 14 years ago
Kudos to the Redcast crew for showing all the post-game celebrations. You just can never count on them getting anything right.by imafrshmn - Other Sports
Re: Cornell Women's Hockey - 14 years ago
The thing about Clarkson which may be a big advantage in OT is that they have a much longer bench. Each of the skaters on the Cornell side has logged about a third more ice time than Clarkson's. Obviously Cornell has been a three line team all season and is used to it, but they looked a little tired in that 3rd period. Who knows how many decent chances we'll be able to muster up in OT.by imafrshmn - Other Sports
Re: Cornell Women's Hockey - 14 years ago
As feared, Clarkson's made it a game, scoring on the PP. Hang on girls. LGR!by imafrshmn - Other Sports
Re: Cornell Women's Hockey - 14 years ago
Clarkson scores one after keeping the puck in the zone for a long time and getting fresh players on.by imafrshmn - Other Sports
Re: Cornell Women's Hockey - 14 years ago
Karpenko! 3-0 Is it just me or has Clarkson missed a lot of golden opportunities?by imafrshmn - Other Sports
Re: Cornell Women's Hockey - 14 years ago
2-0 on a scrappy Fortino goal! When the White line and the Rougeau-Fortino pairing are on the ice, this team can apply a lot of pressure.by imafrshmn - Other Sports
Re: Cornell Women's Hockey - 14 years ago
Yes, Amanda Young sings the anthems at Cornell's home games. Redcast is using WVBR's broadcast, lest you think the athletics dept. would set up the announcing.by imafrshmn - Other Sports
Re: Cornell Women's Hockey - 14 years ago
The RED! and KNIGHTS! during the national anthem was hella strong. The audio sucks, but I suppose I am just thankful that I have a video to watch.by imafrshmn - Other Sports
Re: Cornell Women's Hockey - 14 years ago
If we land Poulin, we will be a in the hunt for a national title next year. Without her, we should still be nationally competitive. I've come to realize that in the long run, the women's team has more potential to be a national title winner than the men's team due to a number of factors: smaller number of DI teams, smaller recruitment pool of elite talent, and the increased importance of educatby imafrshmn - Other Sports
Re: Rebecca Johnston - Cornell Hero - 14 years ago
Well said. It's a natural human reaction to celebrate to a degree commensurate with all the effort, training, dedication, expectations, and pressure leading up to this event. If it weren't for the digital age we live in, so much of the "scandalous" behavior of our sports superstars would go unknown. Anyway, Party On, Canada.by imafrshmn - Other Sports
Re: Cornell 4 at Dartmouth 5 - 14 years ago
It was hard to judge our 3rd period performance with the crappy video stream. I'll be interested to hear from those who were there. Did we lack energy? Did the loss of Kennedy hurt the line combinations too badly? Did we get away from playing the lockdown defense we're known for to close out a game? Was Scrivens off his game?by imafrshmn - Hockey
