Discussions about the Cornell men's and women's hockey teams
Re: Cornell-BU @ MSG postgame - 14 years ago
I was sitting in 215 at the end of the rink, so I had a good view of the game. For the first 10-15 minutes the team came out flying, working the puck behind the net and looking for the open man in front. Then it definitely seemed like we went into a shell after getting the 2-goal lead. For the entire 2nd and 3rd periods, I felt like we were hanging on for dear life. I don't know if BU adjustedby cth95 - Hockey

Any parking suggestions? - 14 years ago
I am driving in from CT and then will be finding a hotel north up 87 somewhere to get a headstart towards VT for the next morning. Any parking suggestions?by cth95 - Hockey
Multiple Player Articles On ECAC Website - 14 years ago
Things are looking good when we have 4 alumni with articles on the ECAC website at the same time. I don't think I have ever seen this with any team. Moulson(2): |NHL|home McCutcheon: O'Byrne: Vesce:by cth95 - Hockey
Re: Alumni in the Pros - November 2009 - 14 years ago
Today's main photo on the front page of the Burlington (VT) Free Press sports section was a large, color shot of Moulson celebrating one of his goals.by cth95 - Hockey
Re: Interesting Goalie Pad Concept - 14 years ago
From that angle, the ball disappears into the foul line. On the TV replay, it was very obvious that the ball was not only fair, but fair by a pretty good margin. I really couldn't figure out how the ump missed that since he was standing on the line. From his angle, I think the ball would have been to the right of the foul line, and in constant contrast with the dirt behind the ball.by cth95 - Other Sports
Re: ECAC's moving to Atlantic City in 2011 - 14 years ago
That absolutely sucks. I admit that I am biased to more northern venues since I live near Burlington, VT, but I still think that it makes no sense to host the tournament further south than pretty much every school. I agree with those who would like to return to Lake Placid or maybe move to Providence. Lake Placid has the charm, character, and history to bring fans and Providence has done a greby cth95 - Hockey

I was watching NESN a couple of nights ago, and they had Chiarelli (GM)on. Bitz was the very first signing this year, and Chiarelli spoke very highly of Bitz's success in stepping right in. He mentioned how hard Bitz worked and how good of a job he did winning pucks along the boards. It was clear that, through this signing and a couple of others, the Bruins are trying to keep the youngby cth95 - Hockey

Just got mine: Sect 215 Seats D13 and D14. Looks like we are above one of the goals 4 sections up out of 6. (Sects in order: 32,67,115,215,322,414/415) Here is the seating chart if you want to see your seats. If you click on the section you will get a cool picture of your view which you can move around.by cth95 - Hockey
Re: NHL favorite team straw poll - 15 years ago
Grew up a Whalers fan, so am now a Bruins fan to stick with the rest of my New England pro teams. Having Bitz coming up and doing so well just makes it that much better. Just named our new kitten Bitz after running through potential names that rhyme with the other cat's name, Mitts. Dorky, but had to do it.by cth95 - John Spencer Is Dead
Re: Alumni in the Pros - April 2009 - 15 years ago
ftyuvBitz earned Cornell a shout-out for his effort today. But it's a game that didn't matter so much that most of the local venues didn't even play it. NESN and, I hear, NESN+ both ignored it. He's played on the PK. NESN plays all Bruins games on NESN+ channels when there is a conflict with the Sox. The Sox broadcast even listed the channel numbers for all of the different cable and dish coby cth95 - Hockey
Re: Frozen Four - 15 years ago
I live in Vermont and followed this on the local news. There was no foreshadowing whatsoever. With the collapse of the economy, the administration examined ways to cut costs. Unfortunately, they decided to cut baseball and softball. With the recent success of the hockey and basketball teams, the vast majority of attention at UVM goes to them. These have always been the main sports anyway.by cth95 - Hockey

Re: Cornell-Yale ECAC championship postgame - 15 years ago
For those putting down Cornell's performance this weekend, I think we have to give a lot of credit to both Princeton and Yale. Both teams completely clogged the middle and sealed off the passing lanes consistently. I often felt like I was watching some of our performances from earlier in the decade. I had a feeling that one or two mistakes would be the decider. Unfortunately, we made a fewby cth95 - Hockey
Re: ECAC Final: Cornell 0 Yale 5 (final) - 15 years ago
I was talking to Jacob Drewiske's (St. Lawrence #13) father before the games Saturday. He lives in Wisconsin and follows the WCHA very closely. He thought that any of the 4 teams this weekend would beat Minnesota or Wisconsin this year. Obviously Yale has our number this year, but maybe that is because they are a very good team. Incidentally, Mr. Drewiske's other son played for Wisconsin anby cth95 - Hockey
Re: BU at MSG 2009 tickets on sale this Friday - 15 years ago
I got through to the Cornell ticket office this morning with no problem. I didn't specify exactly where, but I was able to get 2 tickets in the 100 or 200 section like I asked.by cth95 - Hockey

Re: Pink Uniforms for Late February - 15 years ago
Dpperk29cth95My sister goes to Clarkson. Without me even saying anything, the first thing she said about their game against Dartmouth Friday was how lovely the uniforms looked with the green and gold. Please tell me she was joking. I was being very sarcastic. It doesn't come across well through text. I guess I should have used italics. By the way dpperk, daredevilcu, and drew, she isby cth95 - Hockey

martyftyuvCan the pep band throw together a quick arrangement of a Pink song for the occasion? Get The Party Started early in the 1st? I vote for Henry Mancini's "Theme from the Pink Panther"...no pink bear anthems come to mind. I second that. Great idea.by cth95 - Hockey
Re: Cornell dropping in KRACH and Pairwise - 15 years ago
RitaJust curious, does anyone else out there want the title of this thread changed (or a new one started). The last three weekends have caused us to tumble from that lofty position. I have been thinking the same thing whenever I open this thread. Unfortunately, it should more accurately read "falls" from #1, #3, #6, etc. Hopefully this freefall will stop and turn back around aby cth95 - Hockey
Re: Cornell 3 RPI 0 Postgame - 15 years ago
UgarteAnd even with that penalty it took an insane facemask-save by the UHN goalie with ~ 30 seconds left to keep that game from going to OT. Cornell kept swarming after the penalty. I was thinking about that while I typed. I just couldn't remember exactly when it happened. I also was thinking about your picture, Age. That is an absolutely amazing shot.by cth95 - Hockey
Re: The Rest of the ECAC Reg Season - 15 years ago
I think the offense was really moving during the Dartmouth game. I was very impressed with the speed and the breakout. I think breaking up Nash and Greening worked in that regard. Rather than having a great line with a big drop off after that, both of the first two lines skated and moved the puck well. The down side of this, of course, is that it also left us open to some good opportunities gby cth95 - Hockey
Re: Cornell 3 RPI 0 Postgame - 15 years ago
BeeeejNo - in fact, Hornby had an assist on our second goal with a little more than ten minutes left. Shane Hynes took a high-sticking penalty with 3:08 left. Thanks for clearing that up. I got the "H" right. I just remember being pretty pissed and thinking "What the hell were you thinking?!" From what I saw, the penalty seemed pretty unneccessary. Maybe it wasn't as baby cth95 - Hockey
Re: Cornell 3 RPI 0 Postgame - 15 years ago
I liked Hornby's physical presence, but didn't he basically throw a punch and get a two-minute penalty with about 3 minutes left in Buffalo? I was there and very excited about how Cornell was swarming all over UNH. I thought we really had a chance to tie it up. I was pretty pissed at the penalty, which basically blew any chance we had.by cth95 - Hockey
Re: Postgame thread: Cornell 2 at Harvard 4 - 15 years ago
I didn't see a Dartmouth postgame thread, so I'll throw my 2 cents in here while we are talking "band". On the way out of Thompson Arena, two different Dartmouth fans told me how good our band was and how much fun it was to have them there. I asked why their band had to alternate with the piped-in music, and they told me that was because the band doesn't always show up. My wife, mby cth95 - Hockey

Re: Dartmouth-Harvard Roll Call - 15 years ago
I plan to go to the Dartmouth game with my wife and a friend of mine. I am just waiting to hear that I have tickets coming. Now that we don't play UVM, the Cornell Club of Vermont has been e-mailing me in conjunction with the Club of New Hampshire for the Dartmouth game each year.by cth95 - Hockey
