Discussions about the Cornell men's and women's hockey teams
Re: NCAA tourney - 7 years ago
I'm not sure if I would have felt the same when I was younger, but I would rather see us swim towards the top of a big pond with decent results than have to practically go undefeated to earn a high ranking as the only big fish in a little pond.by cth95 - Hockey
Re: purchasing Lake Placid tickets - 7 years ago
I hope they are loose. They will probably play better than if they are nervous.by cth95 - Hockey
Re: Clarkson @ Cornell 03/10-3/12?/17 - 7 years ago
For that second game, I took a friend for his first Lynah game and a Japanese guy I worked with for his first hockey game ever. Any subsequent games for them must be a letdown. I think we had to kill a back-to-back major and minor overlapping the end of regulation into OT. Lynah went nuts when those ticked off. Leggio definitely stood on his head. He had so much work that he was pourinby cth95 - Hockey
Alumni in the Pros- March '17 - 7 years ago
Just realized a little irony I hadn't noticed before- Riley Nash is on the same line as Dominic Moore for the Bruins.by cth95 - Hockey
Re: Alumni in the Pros - February - 7 years ago
Riley Nash of the Bruins with a nice shortie against the Coyotes tonight. Was then the 2nd intermission interview on NESN.by cth95 - Hockey

RPI @ Cornell 2/24/17 - 7 years ago
I haven't been to Lynah in a few years, but I will be in the area and can go to the RPI game. I don't see anything in the ticket exchange. Have there been tickets available at the window lately? Thanks, Chrisby cth95 - Hockey
Re: HARVARD SUCKS - 7 years ago
Amazing. They actually looked good and didn't choke. The Donato goal was pretty impressive. And they helped us for once.by cth95 - Hockey
Re: Cornell-Colgate 11/29 - 7 years ago
Does anyone know why some schools like Colgate have piped in music and a band? Between the jock rock and our visiting band, the home band has to spend most of their time twiddling their thumbs (or drumsticks).by cth95 - Hockey

I will be relatively near Hamilton Tuesday and hope to get to the game. Does anyone know the best section to get a seat?by cth95 - Hockey
Re: Alumni in the Pros - January (Benefit Habs/B's Jersey Auction) - 8 years ago
All of the Bruin and Canadien jerseys from tonight's game are being auctioned off to benefit Denna Laing. She was partially paralyzed in the women's pro game during the Winter Classic weekend. The auction runs through 9:00 PM on February 11. Scrivens's jersey is on page 3.by cth95 - Hockey
Re: Alumni in the pros -- February 2015 - 9 years ago
Scrivens was rock solid in a 12 round shootout win against the Bruins. The Oilers were heavily out shot in OT. The Bruins announcers also talked about Scrivens' Cornell, ECAC, and NCAA accolades while praising his game in the 3rd period.by cth95 - Hockey

Thankfully, Many are still healthy and do not need an MRI. Sorry, I couldn't resist.by cth95 - Other Sports

I was just in Lake Placid this weekend. They already have posters up advertising the tournament.by cth95 - Hockey
Re: Alumni in the pros - January 2014 - 10 years ago
Douglas Murray gets a (not very flattering) mention in Grantland's NHL dictionary. Zamboni (n.) — the massive contraption that can be seen slowly circling the ice several times a game but is not Douglas Murray.by cth95 - Hockey

I'm surprised no one posted this piece on grade inflation yet:by cth95 - Hockey
Alumni in the Pros - December 2013 - 10 years ago
Check out Scrivens' stats on ESPN as of Dec. 9th. Number 2 in GAA at 1.56 and number 1 in SVPCT at 0.943. Let's hope he continues to keep this up and still gets some good opportunities when Quick comes back.by cth95 - Hockey

NYC doesn't have skiing. And Lake Placid is only 1 1/2 hrs from my house in Vermontby cth95 - Hockey

Re: Alumni in the Pros:February - 11 years ago
Scrivens gets 1st star in relief performance of injured Reimer with 1 goal on 33 shots. Does the new Leafs mask still have the Cornell crest like the old one? I couldn't find a shot with the back left of the new mask. Old: New: andby cth95 - Hockey
Re: Alumni in the Pros:February - 11 years ago
ECAC Alumni: Tim Thomas traded to Islanders. Mostly for cap space from the Bruins' standpoint. Probably still won't play this year.by cth95 - Hockey
Re: Alumni in the Pros:February - 11 years ago
Scrivens gave up 2 goals, both on the PK, against 26 shots in the win.by cth95 - Hockey
Re: Alumni in the Pros:February - 11 years ago
Don Cherry gave props to Moulson and Tavares during Hockey Night in Canada last night as the reason the Islanders are winning this year. He then showed some examples of Moulson scoring goals because he keeps his stick on the ice, saying that most players would have it in the air on those plays. Cherry later mentioned chatting with Moulson's dad recently at a midget skate.by cth95 - Hockey
Re: Big Line-up Changes for Brown Game - 11 years ago
Hopefully it turns into a one step back to gain two steps forward situation if he was willing to sacrifice tonight's game to send a message for the rest of the season.by cth95 - Hockey
Re: The swim test - 11 years ago
Speaking of puking, I took the swim test shortly after running windshield wipers (picture the motion of running back and forth) up and over the Crescent concourse stairs for crew tryouts. I wasn't a fast swimmer, but I still should have passed the test relatively easily. Instead I was getting passed by people in the next group and almost couldn't finish. I started to worry that I was going to hby cth95 - John Spencer Is Dead
Re: Cornell Alumni in the Pros: June 2012 - 11 years ago
Why not a boot to the cup? It's funny you say that. I remember a friend of mine coming into school one day after watching a Bruins/Flyers game the night before and telling me Hextall had taken a slapshot right to the boys. He said later in the broadcast they showed a seriously dented metal cup. Everything is plastic now, so someone can confirm if this was possible and if goalies actually didby cth95 - Hockey
