Re: 2020-02-09: Cornell 5 Colgate 3 - 4 years ago
Out of all of the years we could have attended Cornell, we happened to land on about the only lousy 3-year period in the last 60. I guess one benefit for me taking five years to graduate was that I was there for the '90-'91 season.by cth95 - Hockey

mike1960 First day practice at Bartels. (I think that's Bartels.) Maybe it's James. (For those old enough to remember 80's TV commercials)by cth95 - Other Sports
Re: Incoming Recruits - 4 years ago
Not bad for a very small farm town with only about 1,400 people. Franklin is on the Canadian border and just east of St. Albans. Maybe there is something good in the (frozen) water since John Leclair is from St. Albans. I live in Vermont and work with dairy farmers all over the area. With a town that size, I am sure I know some people that know Geoff.by cth95 - Hockey
Re: Cornell LWT Rowing 2020 - 4 years ago
As someone who was only able to row as a freshman due to having to work during my remaining years, it is interesting to hear Tristan's experiences and what he has learned.by cth95 - Other Sports
Re: Polls 2019-20 - 4 years ago
I know we have a women's thread. I just noticed there hasn't been anything on there in quite some time and the team is doing amazing. I also thought the similarity of the 12-1-2 and 14-1-2 records is cool.by cth95 - Hockey
Re: Polls 2019-20 - 4 years ago
I haven't seen much on here, but look at the women's record. Our teams are now a combined 26-2-4 with almost identical 1-loss records. Pretty amazing year so far for Cornell hockey. Let's hope we get to watch a lot of very late season hockey.by cth95 - Hockey
Re: 2019-12-07: Cornell at Dartmouth - 4 years ago
That's really cool. I plugged in the games for 2003 and happened to notice we lost to Dartmouth in Hanover 5-2 before beating them later in Ithaca 6-1. I hope that bodes well for this year.by cth95 - Hockey

Re: Cornell LWT Rowing 2019 - 4 years ago
Thanks for these updates. I was on the freshman lightweight team in '90-'91 and really enjoyed it. I had to work the following years, so I was unable to have any part in the National Championship team the next year (not that I would have been in the first boat). It is great to hear how well they have done over the last few years.by cth95 - Other Sports
Re: Opponent News 18-19 - 5 years ago
Sturm is actually on the Wild. The article said they were excited to have him. 13:20 does certainly seem impressive for his first game after playing college hockey less than a week earlier.by cth95 - Hockey
Re: Opponent News 18-19 - 5 years ago
It certainly didn't take Nico Sturm long to take advantage of his departure from Clarkson. Once again ESPN shows it's deep knowledge of college hockey: "Wild F Nico Sturm made his NHL debut after the college free agent had signed on Monday. Sturm had 14 goals and 31 assists during his recently finished junior season at Colgate" DATE OPP RESULT G A PTS +/- PIM SOG % PPG PPA SHG SHby cth95 - Hockey
Re: An early look at 2019-2020 - 5 years ago
After watching the East Regional, I started thinking about Cornell's results over the last 20 years. It seems that we have a very consistent team over the long term, usually finishing the season within a fairly tight range ranked between maybe 8 and 24 just to guess. In a typical year, we can expect to have a bye and a good chance at making the ECAC title game along with one game in the NCAA's.by cth95 - Hockey
Re: Cornell - Northeastern - 5 years ago
Any suggestions for Cornell-focused seating sections? I found out last night I was going to be able to go to the game and am just planning on getting tickets at the door.by cth95 - Hockey

Re: Lake Placid 2019 Roll Call - 5 years ago
Does anyone know how to pick seats? I couldn't go today due to work/ kids in school but plan to take my daughters tomorrow. I went to the Whiteface/ Lake Placid site and can find tickets, but it assigns Sect 3 with no way to choose. I know we can probably sit where we want, but I would prefer to have accurate tickets just in case.by cth95 - Hockey
Re: Gonna Fly Now/Gary Glitter - 5 years ago
I think the fans picking up when the band stops is one of the coolest traditions at any sporting events I attend, let alone Cornell hockey. After the 2003 playoffs and FF, I was humming it in my head for most of the next year.by cth95 - Hockey
Re: Opponents News 2: Hockey's the Reason for the Season - 6 years ago
ESPN's NHL Power Rankings states that Donato is still taking classes at Harvard while he is playing for the Bruins.by cth95 - Hockey
Re: Opponents News 2: Hockey's the Reason for the Season - 6 years ago
Donato is looking like he really might be something special. He has the lone goal so far in the 3rd period of Bruins v. Blues tonight on NBC Sports. This after a goal and 2 assists in his first game. They just showed a stat that Ryan is the first Bruin with 4 points in their first two games since 1980.by cth95 - Hockey

Cornell @ Dartmouth 1/27/18 - 6 years ago
Let's hope they can keep rolling and not have a hiccup like Clarkson did last week. Does anyone know what section we are in? I was already thinking about getting tickets to bring my girls to their first Cornell game. With the results tonight, it is a must now.by cth95 - Hockey
Re: Colgate vs. Cornell home-and-home 1/19-20 - 6 years ago
Interesting to read all of the posts this year about how we need a coaching change because of how much Yale, Q, etc. Have left us behind.by cth95 - Hockey
Bill Lazor- Coaching in NFL - 6 years ago
Bill Lazor is getting much credit on Monday Night Football. His Bengals offense leads the 9-2 Stealers 17-3 at halftime. The announcers have mentioned Cornell, coach Hofher, and the Ivy league in complimenting Lazor.by cth95 - Other Sports

Re: The Greatest Game I Ever Played In - 7 years ago
Yeah. I thought we had it there. Seemingly wide open net and Elliott threw his leg up in the air while laying on his side or something like that to make the pad save 2-3 feet off the ice.by cth95 - Hockey
Re: The Greatest Game I Ever Played In - 7 years ago
Thanks for the link. I really enjoyed reading Topher's perspective of actually playing in a game like that. And what a well-written narrative.by cth95 - Hockey
