Re: CU vs. Princeton Post-game - 18 years ago
I didn't see the shot, and I sure as hell am not much of a goalie, but someone took a wrister on me the other night from some rough ice which knuckled all over the place. It seemed like an easy save, but I never could get it lined up squarely. After it got by me, all I could think of was Jason Variteck's nightmares trying to handle Tim Wakefield's knuckle ball. To give benefit of the doubt, maby cth95 - Hockey
Re: Posting Game Scores - 18 years ago
You got it. I had never even thought about it until last night when I realized there were no scores. I don't have a very strong opinion either, even though it is my post. I just noticed that it was nice to be able to kind of let the game develop without knowing the outcome. To address anyone who wants to get a quick score, there are many places to do that, such as USCHO, INCH, cornellbigby cth95 - Hockey
Posting Game Scores - 18 years ago
I hadn't thought about it before, but it was nice to not have any scores in the game and postgame topic lines tonight (Princeton). I didn't get home in time to follow the game, so at least there was still some suspense as I scrolled down the game thread. Anyone else think we should keep doing this?by cth95 - Hockey

Write those letters now so they are fresh in your mind and then swamp The Sun with them as soon as they start publishing again.by cth95 - Hockey
Re: sun article on hockey fans - 18 years ago
How can this guy call himself a sports fan if he thinks that going to a hockey game on a Friday or Saturday night (which still leaves time to go to the bars, which most people don't hit until 10PM anyway) means someone has no life? Does that mean that all Green Bay Packers or New York Giant fans are dorks and have no lives because of the amazingly long wait for season tickets? Or that Red Sox fby cth95 - Hockey
Re: Cornell jersey - 18 years ago
Even if it is first-come, first-served I am sure the players have the inside track on when they are ready. I agree that they should get 1st choice anyway, however. I graduated in '95 and still very proudly wear my crew jacket. I am also mad that I lost my sweatshirt somewhere along the line. No matter how much you spend there is no way to outdo the satisfaction of having earned something likeby cth95 - Hockey
Re: watching the Quinnipiac game in Burlington,VT - 18 years ago
Anyone planning on watching near Burlington? I live just across the lake so do not get NESN. I am planning on coming over and finding a place to catch the game, possibly with an alumnae friend who lives near there but does not have cable. Maybe the Windjammer?by cth95 - Hockey
Re: Cornell jersey - 18 years ago
In August I had called and was told end of September. I have called every few weeks including yesterday and still no news. Just so anyone looking for a McKee jersey knows, goalie cuts are huge with very wide sleeves and fit like a dress without the pads under them. I have a XXL Koronis that doesn't fit over my my new chest protector, so I am hoping to get a goalie cut game worn, even if it isby cth95 - Hockey
Re: Cornell 5 Niagara 3 (Saturday; final) - 18 years ago
At least it is starting to seem like everything is heading in the right direction. I just looked at all of our box scores and other than the two Michigan State games and the Dartmouth game we are staying well over 30 shots per game. Listening to the broadcast tonight, it sounds like McKee played pretty well, too. It sounded like he made quite a few saves on the power play that led to the 2nd gby cth95 - Hockey
Re: Cornell 5, Niagara 4 (Post-game Thread) - 18 years ago
I would like to know how McKee looked from some people at the game. Tough to tell sometimes from the video feed without the benefit of instant replay. The 4th goal wasn't even in the frame that I could see. Hopefully, the spectacular series with about 6 1/2 minutes left when McKee pretty much saved the game will give him a good boost and carry him into tomorrow. Something like that can be allby cth95 - Hockey
Re: [OT] Joe's Restaurant Reopening - 18 years ago
Yeahhh! I couldn' t believe when I was in Ithaca a few years ago and it was closed. I used to eat at both Big and Little Joes all of the time. Awesome ravioli and seafood linguini. I had my graduation dinner there in '95. Looking forward to checking it out if I can get down to see a home game. LGR!!by cth95 - John Spencer Is Dead
Re: worst restaurant EVER - 18 years ago
I like the Adirondacks quite a bit and have hiked 32 of the 46 4000 footers so far along with numerous slightly smaller ones. I also agree that Potsdam and Canton are an oasis. My mother lives in Potsdam and I try to go to the two north country games every year. I find a general bleakness to the general Route 11 corridor from Rouses Point to about Watertown, however.by cth95 - Hockey
Re: worst restaurant EVER > hooray for Potsdam/Canton - 18 years ago
Just to be clear, I am not trying to bash NY. Although I do think the north country is very bleak and also very poor except for a few pockets, I think the Finger Lakes are very pretty. I just find most of northern New England to be one of the prettiest regions in the country, which is why I have lived in Vermont almost the whole time I have been out of college.by cth95 - Hockey
Re: worst restaurant EVER > hooray for Potsdam/Canton - 18 years ago
The north country is barren and desolate. Other than Potsdam, it consists mainly of old run down farms and scrub trees taking back the fields. It is also very flat. I lived 45 minutes north of Hanover for 4 years just across the border in Vermont. Hanover is very small and doesn't offer a lot itself, but the area is gorgeous. It is just outside of the White Mountains, and the Connecticut Rivby cth95 - Hockey
Re: Sieve - 18 years ago
Considering a hot goalie is called a "wall" , I think anything with holes in it would be a step down, regardless of technical definitions. I would much rather see our goalie be a wall and let nothing through, which is obviously what his job is and what he tries to do.by cth95 - Hockey

Maybe he helped Murray test out the new tap idea a couple years ago-- Oh no! We can't let the news crew know because he would have been underage then.by cth95 - Hockey

Re: New Chant - 18 years ago
I don' t think we could pull it off, but it would sound pretty bizarre if we all chanted "killll...killlllll...Killllllllllll!, killll...killlllll...Killllllllllll!", etc. with the same, wild intonation and rising pitch that Arlo uses.by cth95 - Hockey
Re: New Chant - 18 years ago
Sounds good. Simple so the whole rink can easily keep it up without falling off or getting too much off beat.by cth95 - Hockey
Re: All-Access Questions - 18 years ago
Being a little more patient now. Still some freeze up, but am starting to get continous flow for more than a minute or less at a time. Is annoying to be watching a chronological collage of the game as often as actual video, though.by cth95 - Hockey
Re: All-Access Questions - 18 years ago
I can reclick on the camera icon and it will buffer and start moving again, but it is not very entertaining to have to do this every minute or two. Sometimes I have to completely exit everything and start over again. I am screwing around about 3 minutes for every minute of game I am seeing if not worse.by cth95 - Hockey
Re: All-Access Questions - 18 years ago
Anyone having problems with the picture freezing up? I just started All-Access today and turned the game on towards the end of the first period. My sound cuts out and comes back occassionally, but what is really annoying is that I can't seem to keep a moving picture for more than a few seconds at a time. The sound keeps going and I am stuck with a still shot of something 1 1/2 minutes ago.by cth95 - Hockey

Re: Alumni in the pros - October 2005 - 18 years ago
From the Coyotes website-- LENEVEU TO START TUESDAY Following Monday’s practice, Gretzky announced that rookie goaltender David LeNeveu would get the start in goal on Tuesday against the St. Louis Blues. “David has been real good this season and we wanted to get him another game on this home stand,†said Gretzky.by cth95 - Hockey
Re: Alumni in the pros - October 2005 - 18 years ago
Coyotes not doing very well yet, but Lenny taking full advantage of his chances in net. SI gives him some pretty good kudos in this week's NHL power rankings. Is there a logjam at goalie? Coach Wayne Gretzky has been impressed with the play of David LeNeveu, who was called up when regulars Brian Boucher and Curtis Joseph went down with injuries, so much so that LeNeveu may have earned himselfby cth95 - Hockey
