Re: 12/28 UMD-Cornell - 18 years ago
The BC game last year was a big penalty fest, too, wasn't it? Who reffed last year? By the way, interview w/McKee coming up after this commercial on the audio, for those of you watching the video.by cth95 - Hockey

Thank you. I don't think I would have found that on my own.by cth95 - Hockey

Not much of an interview, but this was on the San Antonio Rampage website. There is also an interview with Grant Fuhr, the goaltending coach. Hyphen is mentioned in that article. I didn't realize that he was in the Coyotes system, too. I guess they like Ivy League goalies.by cth95 - Hockey
Re: Canadian World Junior Hockey Camp Opens - 18 years ago
Found this about Sasha under the Tuesday notebook. The U.S. is looking good. I am rooting for Sasha individually and Canada in their games, but overall I am definitely rooting for our team. Saturday's game against the Canadians should be good. Incidentally, the article about the U.S. vs. Norway game states that the U.S. team was booed during introductions and the crowd was silent for theby cth95 - Hockey

Coyotes G Brian Boucher, out with a pulled groin since Phoenix's first preseason game, was recalled from San Antonio of the AHL after a two-week conditioning stint. Boucher, who set an NHL record with five consecutive shutouts in 2003-04, was 2-2 with a 1.18 goals-against average for the Rampage. David LeNeveu, 2-5-2 with a 3.20 GAA in nine games, was sent to San Antonio to make room for Boucher.by cth95 - Hockey

Now that you mention it, that's what it looks like. Probably a good call.by cth95 - Hockey
Re: Jerseys? - 18 years ago
I have red all over my white practice jersey from the crossbar like you said. You have a good idea about the bench, but this is a rust or burned color and less than 1/2" wide. It looks a little like some of the spots on my T-shirts that I throw on a metal staircase to dry after I play. The difference is that it is a line, so I thought maybe he left it hanging on something metal whenby cth95 - Hockey

Wow. What a contrast to Thrasher's article. Maybe someone should just post this link into the Tulane feedback in the original post.by cth95 - Hockey
Re: Jerseys? - 18 years ago
Sweet! Got my #1 Red in the mail today. I was going to leave the name off because so many good goaltenders have worn this number. I think I will put Chabot's name back on it in respect to him, however. He certainly deserves it after sticking with the program and playing well when he was called upon this year despite being a backup throughout his career. Besides, in a few years we can see howby cth95 - Hockey
Re: [OT] a whiney Tulane student rant - 18 years ago
I guess I shouldn't have said "any", but they do seem pretty rare to me. Especially once they become alumni. I have become even more proud of Cornell since I graduated. It has provided me with a continuing network of connections (both professionally and socially) as well as with ongoing advice and consultation from my professors in the Animal Science department even though I have beenby cth95 - Hockey
Re: [OT] a whiney Tulane student rant - 18 years ago
If Cornell was so bad, I don't think that we would have one of the most proud and bonded alumni group that I have ever seen, this board being a perfect example. Almost every Cornellian I have ever met brags a little (or a lot) about our fair alma mater, and I can think of almost none that regret going there or even degrade the overall experience at all. I know we all have gripes about specby cth95 - Hockey

Apparently speaking second-hand on this one. Good catch. (Pardon the pun--catch,fish, just realized it myself)by cth95 - Hockey

I never heard much about ornithology until recently. I know it is a strong department, but is he trying to be facetious by saying we are known for a relatively little-known field, or has the recent news of the rediscovery of the Ivory Billed Woodpecker really brought ornithology this far to the forefront. If so, I think our huge presence behind the unbelievably successful Mars rovers shoulby cth95 - Hockey

No grade inflation, either. I can certainly attest to that due to my roller coaster semester GPA's as my focus came and went among school, work, and other matters.by cth95 - Hockey
Re: [OT] a whiney Tulane student rant - 18 years ago
I have to whole-heartedly agree with this. Admittedly it would be more difficult for someone only there for a semester or two, especially if they are used to a big city, party-time environment, but it is not hard to have a good time almost anywhere if someone is willing to put just a little effort in. Having spent most of my career as a dairy farmer, I have always lived in areas where I haby cth95 - Hockey

I know Cornell is well known for the Hotel School, but I have to say, ever since I first enrolled in 1990, everyone (family, friends, teachers, etc.) that found out was very impressed because of its overall reputation. I am pretty sure that most of them didn't even know about the Hotel School. I went there for Agriculture (specifically AnSci hoping to be a vet, quickly changed my mind likeby cth95 - Hockey

I don't know if I would call this "similar", since it doesn't really express any opinion one way or the other and definitely doesn't totally bash Brown. I did find it interesting that the author primarlily described parties and only briefly mentioned anything academic. Since the descripiton of Brown academia only related to the unique course requirements and nothing specific, I wouldby cth95 - Hockey
Re: Alumni in the Pros -- Dec 2005 - 18 years ago
Good point. I had been thinking that at least if Lenny goes back to the AHL for a while he will get a lot more playing time than he will behind Cujo, possibly honing his skills faster. I hadn't thought of trading Boucher, however.by cth95 - Hockey

That means mine really is game-worn.by cth95 - Hockey
Re: picked up my game worn....how do i clean it? (bunch of puck marks!!) - 18 years ago
Goalie jerseys have a different cut than player jerseys. The sleeves and shoulders are very wide so they can fit over the huge chest protectors they wear nowadays. This is exactly why I reserved the red #1, so I can play (or try to) in it.by cth95 - Hockey

My Koronis has puck marks from playing in it. Now that I am getting a game worn, can I get the puck marks out of the Koronis?by cth95 - Hockey
Re: Jerseys? - 18 years ago
I'm leaving the name off of mine so I can honor numerous players. Underhill is the obvious recent owner, and I really respect Chabot for sticking with the program and playing well, even though he is almost never called upon. From TBRW I found that Darren Eliot, JM Pelletier, and Paris Duffus (my time), all have worn this number as well. Best of all, there is a picture of Dryden in which I canby cth95 - Hockey

BIG HITS Besides Thornton, Doug Murray also played his first game at HP Pavilion, and the rookie is undefeated as an NHLer as the Sharks have gone 3-0. “I definitely got in there and played my role,†said Murray. “I got a couple of good chances to hit a few guys tonight. I was a little overanxious in the beginning, running around a little too much, but I settled down and played soby cth95 - Hockey

I got #1 in red, so I have a goalie jersey to fit over my pads. Just painted my white helmet red this weekend, too. Too bad I can't play half as well as Chabot or anyone else that has worn the number for real.by cth95 - Hockey
Re: Alumni in the Pros -- Dec 2005 - 18 years ago
You beat me to it. I was going to put that quote up, too. Darren Eliot was the other announcer. Not a bad night for Cornell hockey.by cth95 - Hockey
Re: OT -- Fans on the field - 18 years ago
There is definitely an unknown risk from anyone running onto a playing surface, even though most are just drunken, attention-starved idiots. Don't forget, Monica Seles was stabbed in the back by some wacko in the middle of a tennis match. I think whatever effort is needed to restrain someone is justified.by cth95 - Hockey
