Will we move up in national polls? - 18 years ago
I know most people don't care too much about the national polls, but for those that care at least a little... I think we might have a pretty good shot at moving up this week. We were the only team in the top ten to win two games. Boston University, at number ten, only played one game and won it. Everyone else in the top ten actually lost at least one game this weekend. Except us, of course.by andyw2100 - Hockey
Re: Cornell @ Colgate Postgame 2/4 - 18 years ago
I was at the game. There were a few issues with the gum throwing that really made it far more wrong, in my eyes, than our toothpaste throwing. With a few minutes left to go in the warm-up, some pseudo-official Colgate people started passing out packs of gum to the student section. The students immediately started throwing the gum at our players, covering our half of the ice with several hundreby andyw2100 - Hockey

jy3yep here is the updated set of rankings with 33/22/11 as a 4 seed we would likely be in mass First of all, thanks to all of you who really understand this stuff, and post the details for those of us who are interested. I'm especially aprreciative of the detailed posts by Ken, and the one in the past couple of days by Robb. Thanks guys. But now on to my immediate question... As the nuby andyw2100 - Hockey

Re: Guaranteed ECAC Title vs Guaranteed NCAA Advance - 18 years ago
I absolutely agree with you on 1A and 2A. I guess I would also take 4b, tough as it is to give up the ECAC title. But with 4b we still have a shot at the National Championship. And I would still take 3A over 3B. (The only choice of yours I disagree with.) Andy W. '86by andyw2100 - Hockey

You could see if you might be able to get on the Cornell Hockey Association bus. Last I heard there was a waiting list, but you never know. Andy W.by andyw2100 - Hockey
Re: Colgate is going to have a "whiteout" Sat night. Should we have a red out for the game friday night? - 18 years ago
No letter necessary. I just spoke to Chris Feaver, the writer at "The Ithaca Journal" who is writing the preview piece for Friday's game. (I called him last year about the "Sea of Red" too.) He has agreed to add a line or two mentioning the "Sea of Red" idea, and encouraging fans to wear red. So we're OK there. Andy W.by andyw2100 - Hockey
Re: Brown at Cornell postgame thread - 18 years ago
Is there some way to see the video after the game for free? I didn't think there was, but since a couple of people who were at the game wrote about watching the video, it made me think maybe there was, since I wouldn't imagine you guys would be paying for a subscription if you're here in Ithaca, going to the games. What am I missing? Thanks. Andy W.by andyw2100 - Hockey
Re: Quick rules question: checking the hell out of McNulty - 18 years ago
In my experience, despite what the actual rule might be, if a goalie is out of the net, and takes a real, hionest-to-goodness check from an opposing player--a check that would be clean were it not for the fact that it was on a goalie--a penalty will be called. I don't believe the check on McNulty was in that league. There may have been some contact, but it was not an all-out check.by andyw2100 - Hockey
Re: Clarkson at Cornell postgame thread (2/21/06) - 18 years ago
I had a good view of the stick incident. O'Byrne did put a good hit on the Clarkson player, but also used his elbow to ram the guy's head into the boards. I was actually sure he was going to get called for that. Add it to the list of non-calls we got away with that night, because from where I sat, it was pretty blatant. The Clarkson player's stick did fly up into Section C. O'Byrne had alsoby andyw2100 - Hockey
Re: Lynah Townie shirts - 18 years ago
The loss of the chicken tradition has always bugged me. I love animals. I agree that it was not a great idea for the powers that be to sanction the practice whereby a student would keep a live chicken stuffed into their coat for a couple of hours, before eventually tieing the hopefully, but not always, still live chicken to the Harvard goal between the second and third periods. But there arby andyw2100 - Hockey
Re: Unsolicited ticket purchase offers - 18 years ago
I received the offer too, and responded before reading this thread. I asked the person if I knew him, and also let him know that when I do sell tickets here, I do it at fave value. He told me that he had seen that I had sold tickets before, and was just contacting me for that reason. Andy W.by andyw2100 - Hockey

Granted my view from Section C, almost on the aisle with D, was not great, but from where I sat it looked like Scott made a beautiful pass from behind the goal line to Moulson right at the goal mouth, and Moulson just tapped it home. Re: Posting Game Scores - 18 years ago
I don't have a strong opinion on this one way or the other. But I just want to point out, for all the people here suggesting that someone planning on watching or listening to the game later avoid eLynah until after doing so, that the original poster was not talking about doing either of those things. The original poster wanted to be able to read through the game thread as his way of enjoying theby andyw2100 - Hockey
Re: Cornell 3 Niagara 1 (2nd period) - 18 years ago
The radio announcer made it sound like the Niagara player who may have deflected the third Cornell goal into the net was arguing that his own stick was too high, so that the goal should not have counted. Is that how the rule works? I mean, if Moulson takes a shot from the faceoff circle that hits an opposing player's stick held well above his waist (or whatever the designated point for a high-stiby andyw2100 - Hockey

Cornell taking a time-out. According to WHCU announcer, there seemed to be some confusion as to what players Schafer wanted out, and the timeout may have been necessary to get the right players on the ice.by andyw2100 - Hockey
