Discussions about the Cornell men's and women's hockey teams
Re: Union & RPI Roll Call - 15 years ago
Schenectady is indeed the ass end of the Capital District, but they've got enough good food and drink for our needs on Friday night without having to pay a cover to listen to crappy loud music while drinking $6 beers downtown.by mha - Hockey
Union & RPI Roll Call - 15 years ago
Evening, all! Trying to decide where to stay for the upcoming Union/RPI weekend. Tentatively narrowed it down to the Hampton Inn in Schenectady, which is walking distance to the rink, some decent food, and a fun Irish pub right behind the hotel for drinking afterwards; or the Hampton Inn in downtown Albany, which is walking distance to another facility of our acquaintance, as well as lots of foodby mha - Hockey
Skate with the Big Red - Still On! - 15 years ago
Word from the Hockey Office this afternoon is that tonight's Skate with the Big Red event is still on, despite the wintry weather that shut down all of the area's school districts. After being cooped up with the kids in the house all day, getting them to Lynah seems like a great idea.by mha - Hockey
Cornell @ NoDak Saturday 11/29 Viewing locations thread - 15 years ago
Ship of Fools in NYC has confirmed they can receive the Fighting Sioux Sports Network via satellite, so we can watch tomorrow night's game as well! Gametime is 8pm ET this time. Ship of Fools is at 2nd Ave at 82nd St, and we'll probably be in the back room again. E-mail Beeeej at. BeeeejEsq@gmail.com if you hby mha - Hockey
Re: Cornell @ NoDak, Friday, Nov. 28, 2008: Ithaca - 15 years ago
REDheadFor anyone in Ithaca and those in TWCNY cachement area--they will be airing this game on Channel 244, NHL network, available as part of their "Sports Tier" package--costs $1.95 per month.I sign up every college hockey season and then drop it--it's a great bargain! Unfortunately, the NHL Network is one of the "switched" channels, and not available for CableCARD cable sby mha - Hockey
Re: Harvard Post-game - 15 years ago
CUontheslopesAs much as I wish it was a goal and I chanted goal, goal, goal, it definitely wasn't. I had a perfect angle in E just on the other side of the netting. Hard to tell from this angle, as optimistic as I wanted to be.by mha - Hockey
Re: Harvard Post-game - 15 years ago
TimVOne of the entertaining sights last night was when some jerk tossed a fish with about 1:00 still on the clock while we were trying to hold on to a 1 goal lead. The fish landed near Seminoff, I think, who picked it up, hid it in his glove, and casually skated over to the bench to dump it. Yup, it was Jared. Quick thinking on his part! No delay, no penalty.by mha - Hockey
Re: @Princeton tickets available, @Colgate tickets sold out - 15 years ago
Cornell11Anyone know where else they'll be showing the game? Pixel Lounge in Collegetown is showing the Princeton game tomorrow afternoon, starting at 4. (You do have to be 21 to get in, as it's a bar.)by mha - Hockey
Cornell vs Princeton at Pixel Lounge this Friday - 15 years ago
Despite TWC's best efforts to get in the way, Pixel Lounge in Collegetown finally has ESPNU working, and will be showing Cornell vs Princeton projected huge on the wall as well as on the shiny new plasma TV tomorrow afternoon. If you're not going to Princeton yourself, you're welcome to cheer on the Big Red at Pixel! Pixel is at 107.5 Dryden Road, down the small alley between Plum Tree and Subby mha - Hockey
@Princeton tickets available, @Colgate tickets sold out - 15 years ago
Word from the Athletic Ticket Office is that tickets for this Friday afternoon's 4pm game at Princeton's Hobey Baker Rink are still available, but they'll be sent back to Princeton soon -- probably tomorrow. If you'd like to buy tickets for Friday's game, I'd suggest swinging by Bartels Hall to buy them first thing in the morning! (They open at 10am.) (If you're not going and you're in Ithaca, Piby mha - Hockey
Re: Cornell vs Harvard Tickets @ Harvard on sale Sept 24, 10:00am - 15 years ago
ebilmesI thought this was fishy: they didn't ask for my credit card number over the phone. Did this happen for anyone else? That's extremely fishy. Call to confirm the order went through. They ran my card while I was on the phone with them and he verified it had been processed.by mha - Hockey
Re: Picture from Last game of 07-08 - 15 years ago
Thanks for the compliment. That's one of the shots I'm especially happy with, but I've been lucky enough to take quite a few hockey pictures.by mha - Hockey
Re: Who's staying, who's going? - 16 years ago
billhowardThank goodness for families where siblings actually get along. While Beeeej and I get along great, I don't think you should put us both on the same hockey team.by mha - Hockey
Re: ECAC Consy: Colgate 2 Cornell 4 (final) - 16 years ago
ajc69I'm hoping to find a picture of the three guys hugging just before they got off the ice to be able to frame, any ideas? For framing purposes, I'd be happy to send you the full-resolution originals. Send me a private message here or on Facebook.by mha - Hockey
Re: ECAC Consy: Colgate 2 Cornell 4 (final) - 16 years ago
That's Ned Dykes, and I can ask him if he got additional shots. Here's a link to that Facebook album... ...and the Flickr set... Lots of overlap, but not identical sets.by mha - Hockey
Re: ECAC Consy: Colgate 2 Cornell 4 (final) - 16 years ago
I got several, and can upload more of them.by mha - Hockey
Re: C.U. In Albany!!!! a.k.a. Albany Roll Call - 16 years ago
That's always the risk you take! Our crew doesn't have tickets yet, but we'll be there... and I made the hotel reservation last night for downtown. Let's Go Red!by mha - Hockey
Re: Union Roll Call - 16 years ago
I'll be there with a few of the usual suspects. We've got two rooms reserved at the Hampton Inn Schenectady, which I believe is walking distance to the rink and what nightlife there is, but we now only need one of the rooms. If you'd like me to transfer the second room to you instead of canceling it, let me know via IM (mhaithaca) or phone (607-255-8634) this afternoon, and it's all yours. Itby mha - Hockey
Re: Quinnipiac-Princeton Roll Call - 16 years ago
Skipping Quinnipiac thanks to crappy weather and reports of even crappier road conditions between here and there, but still planning on seeing many of you in Princeton tomorrow night. Let's Go Red!by mha - Hockey
Re: Lynah East and/or Dartmouth Roll Call - 17 years ago
Liz '05Ironic, considering I'm flying eight times this week (just never further than western Lousiana or the Atlantic coast of Florida). Ah, but the frequent flier miles from those eight trips should get you to your next hockey weekend! See the rest of you for both games!by mha - Hockey
Re: Eating @ Dartmouth - 17 years ago
Not in walking distance, but I've been told that Margaritas in Lebanon has great Mexican food and margaritas. It's a small, family-owned chain, and a friend of mine worked at the one in Exeter... and came out still loving the food and the owners. (That's a neat trick.) So, thinking about trying that tomorrow if time allows. Murphy's also looked good last time, and I'm glad to hear it's decent.by mha - Hockey
Re: Eating @ Dartmouth - 17 years ago
I would have had trouble coming up with the name of Everything But Anchovies if you asked, but that's where we had a great pre-game dinner a year and a half ago, last time we were in Hanover. I thought it was great, and I don't remember there being a major problem getting in and out. But, as with the Nines, we made sure to get there early!by mha - Hockey
Re: CU Tradition - 17 years ago
I have seriously mixed feelings about this. On the one hand, Joe Nieuwendyk really is in a class by himself. I have no problem with Cornell retiring his number. On the other hand, I wonder if, once we set that precedent, we might not end up overdoing it. My comment to Age the other day was that I have no problem retiring the number of any player who goes on to a twenty-year NHL career and winby mha - Hockey
Capital District games this weekend - 17 years ago
Afternoon, folks! Someone's trying to convince me to go to the games at Union and RPI this weekend, and I guess I'm willing to be convinced. Is there going to be a good crowd in town? Anyone know of a particular hotel where lots of folks are staying?by mha - Hockey
Re: Nieuwendyk to be honored Saturday at Lynah - 17 years ago
French Rage Can't he wait for the P/Q weekend when some of us will be in town? If that suggestion came up, the right answer on his part would have been, "Nah, that weekend is about the seniors. Let's not make it about me."by mha - Hockey

It's only fraud if they intentionally take your money, knowing they will not be providing you the service you're paying for.by mha - Hockey

Re: Does anyone outside DC charge folks to watch a Cornell hockey game? - 17 years ago
This is a tough one. As a board member for the Cornell Alumni Association of the Ithaca Area, I know when we host an event in a business, we need to make it worth their while. We can often schedule an event at a time when they won't otherwise be full, so it's easy. But on a Friday night, convincing a bar or restaurant to set aside a large chunk of their space is going to mean promising them aby mha - Hockey
Re: Cornell - CSTV webcast quality - 17 years ago
When a merchant doesn't provide what you pay for and refuses to issue a refund, you have a recourse. Document the specific problem, what you paid, what you tried to do to get the merchant to correct it, and then tell your credit card company you're not paying. If enough people suck their money back from CSTV via credit card complaint procedures, someone might notice.by mha - Hockey
Re: All-Access catalog of woes - pay to watch ads - 17 years ago
I think it's worth noting that after a woman sued a theatre chain for showing commercials after the published start time for a movie, pretty much all movie theatres who show commercials have put the commercials before the published start time. For a 7:15 movie, commercials run up to 7:15, and then the trailers start. (There's such a long history of trailers at the movies that there's no way thoseby mha - Hockey
