Discussions about the Cornell men's and women's hockey teams
Re: North Dakota Sioux are DIRTY thugs!! - 15 years ago
i agree with you regarding their dirty play but think the clips you posted say more about the ineptitude of the WCHA officials and the fact that they condone this thug'ish play and don't/won’t punish it as the rules state they should. here's to hoping UND doesn't resort to these tactics in a few weeks ... if only b/c the dreaded Don Adam might just be on the ice.by ben03 - Hockey
Re: Men's lax to play UVA - 15 years ago
yup, see bottom of UVA's Starsia bio page "Starsia is a graduate of Valley Stream Central High School, where he was an outstanding football player. He had never seen a lacrosse game before entering Brown as a student in 1970. Showing natural talent for the game, however, he became one of the best defensemen in school history." definitely appears to be cut from the same cloth as Siby ben03 - Other Sports
Re: Lax games on TV - 16 years ago
Josh '99Duke at Loyola now on ESPNU for those who get it, Duke up 4-2 early in the second quarter. Duke's going to win a lot of games this year, especially after the NCAA said "hey, how about if we give some All-Americans an extra year of eligibility?" completely PR driven and IMHO a major faux pas by the NC$$. total BS in my book ... these guys are going to have 4 1/2 seasons of tby ben03 - Other Sports

sah67 Not a good night when you get pulled twice although pulling yourself IMHO, a la QU's Jamie Holden gifting Sam Paolini our second goal in the first 3:30 of the '02 NCAA first round ... is also probably just as embarrassing.by ben03 - Hockey

redhair34polarit doesn't seem like many people know the words too it, either. Over in F, no one ever sings either one. That's too bad "My Old Cornell" is my fave disclaimer: i realize this may get me laughed off the board due to the asinine nature of this suggestion but ... how about approaching the Athletic Dept. to inquire about having a page of classic song lyrics (My Old Corby ben03 - Hockey

lynah80In addition to the game DQ, Burgdoerfer will probably not be treated very well at Lynah on Feb 16. the tv sound was quite clear at ice level after this hit. when they showed the Big Red bench choice words and/or phrases were copiously hurled at Burgdoerfer. He should likely fear for his personal safety as the bench, most notably Sawada was telling him he was "f'ing dead, i'm gonna f;by ben03 - Hockey
Re: BU Postgame - 16 years ago
playing the talent angle of this is way overrated. did we get out worked, without a doubt. did we get out coached, that remains to be seen. did we get "out talented", no way! the larger offensive zone definitely played to BU's advantage without a doubt but we definitely did not get "out talented." personally, watching from 3,000 miles away on tv, we lost this game on goaltby ben03 - Hockey
John Tillman ‘91 Named New Head Coach at Harvard - 16 years ago
... A 1991 graduate of Cornell University's School of Hotel Administration, Tillman played for legendary coach Richie Moran and was a member of the school's 1989 team that advanced to the NCAA Championship Tournament. He began his playing career as a goalie but eventually played every position except attack before the end of his career in which he was a three-year member of the Dean's List ...by ben03 - Other Sports
Re: NCAA lax backets - easier path to title game - 16 years ago
didn't you hear the news ... the sport of lacrosse (aka bagataway) was invented, perfected and only played in maryland. oh and if you're not from the old line state you're just pretending ... and if you dare beat a team hailing from south of the mason-dixon it was a total fluke and they’d always win the next one. the southern lax BS is on par with the western hockey non-sense, it might just pby ben03 - Other Sports
Re: NCAA lax backets - easier path to title game - 16 years ago
well i think the FF is something for the NC$$ seeding committee to be proud of ... the #1 seeded and #2 ranked Duke team is playing the #4 seed and #1 ranked Cornell in the top half of the bracket and the other half has #3 seed and #5 ranked JHU playing unseeded and #15 ranked Delaware. I have to say I love the balance i think this should be the new model moving forward. the only fitting finish aby ben03 - Other Sports

so it's been a few years since i've seen a game Lynah but i was just curious if anyone else noticed the all red Zamboni (well not really but you know what i mean)? i could have sworn it didn't used to be all red ... ??? am i crazy or is this part of the facilities upgrade that i've not heard mentioned? anyone ...by ben03 - Hockey
Re: Lynah Rink Renovation Blog - 18 years ago
after a closer look at the cited plan, i'm wondering where the players/penalty benches will be located? the drawing only accounts for a single players bench and no sin-bins. any thoughts? EDIT: on second thought, my guess is nothing will change from the current setup. the PA booth will just be the door to the new tunnel and the players benches remain where they currently are located. althouby ben03 - Hockey
Re: Recruits 2006: Davenport back in Ithaca? - 18 years ago
not wanting to sift through the both recruiting threads please forgive me if this is very old news ... but Heisenberg lists Troy Davenport-G (2/26/06) Des Moines (USHL) 6'0 170 1-5-85 Will return to team as junior if this is old, please disregard. it's been a while and i'm a few months behind.by ben03 - Hockey

Re: cornell v golden showers, game 1 - 18 years ago
Townieben03Anyone care to give the readers digest version for those who just got home from work? LGR!!! 1-1 after the first period. We hustled to a 3-1 lead in the second period, only to let Clarkson tie it on 2 bad defensive plays, both of which had O'Byrne's fingerprints all over them! There's now about 2 minutes left in the 1st OT. much appreciated, thanksby ben03 - Hockey

Re: Jerseys? What font? - 18 years ago
HeafDogI just received my jersey back from PSP last night via UPS Ground. I had them put a nameplate with a seven-letter name, and a single-digit number on the jersey, and they charged me $48 (before tax but including shipping) for it. It was somewhat more than I thought it would be. Is that about the same amount that other people have paid for PSP's services, or did I get horked? wait a sec .by ben03 - Hockey
Re:[OT] Canadian World Junior / Olympic Rosters - 18 years ago
appears sid-the-kid won't be playing for any iterations of Team Canada this year. i wonder if Sutter would consider bringing him in a la Logan Stephenson. pretty interesting to see the county's greatest young talent not on either bench.by ben03 - Hockey

Boston University is ranked in the poll (#20) and they've actually lost more games than they've won. yeah, when 53% of the division I programs [31/58(9)] receive votes in a poll, it pretty much negates its already microscopic legitimacy. if USCHO and CSTV are trying to imitate the farce that is the D1 football bby ben03 - Hockey
