Re: Lax: NCAA Quarterfinals - CU 14 Army 5 - 13 years ago
billhoward We don't want to look past Saturday's matchup. But Notre Dame looks like a better matchup next weekend than Maryland ... We can now hope for Duke and Virginia to wear each other down Saturday. this is a great point. we obviously have to take care of our business with ND ... but the other semi will be a battle and will certainly wear both down to the core. leaving the winner with littby ben03 - Other Sports
Re: Lax: NCAA Quarterfinals - 13 years ago
Swampy Tom Pasniewski 98 Have to root for Stony Brook in the second game if only to have a final four where Cornell is the only team to have won a national championship thus giving us a Final Four that ends with either Cornell winning another title or another team is added to the relatively small list of NCAA DI champs. Be careful what you wish for. I don't believe UVA has ever won a NC. Swamby ben03 - Other Sports
Re: Seeded 7th -- Facing Loyola - 14 years ago
Al DeFlorio billhoward That errant Pannell-to-Hurley pass with 30 seconds left in OT might shorten our season by one game. (That and other things such as not maintaining a multi-goal lead, again, but the pass near the Princeton goal was our last blown chance to win.) If that flipped Princeton and Cornell's placements (and if the high seeds all win on the first weekend) then we wind up with an extby ben03 - Other Sports
Re: Seeded 7th -- Facing Loyola - 14 years ago
Al DeFlorio Rita ugarte This is the general lax tournament thread, right? Cool. I am disappointed that 7-7 Hopkins made the tournament but I still want them to beat Duke. For lax do you have to have at least a 0.500 record to be considered regardless of your SOS? Who did JHU knock out? I imagine that team must be fuming and looking to schedule games only against the ACC and Syracuse nexby ben03 - Other Sports
Re: Seeded 7th -- Facing Loyola - 14 years ago
Jim Hyla Al DeFlorio ben03 at least we know we can get to 59:59. Right. Plus, I'm encouraged by the domination of Brown for three quarters and Princeton for a half. This team is now showing that when the middies and attack play together, they really can do some stuff. The problem seems to be that, with a lead, the middies sit back and let the attack--meaning, to a large degree, Rob Pannell--dby ben03 - Other Sports
Re: Seeded 7th -- Facing Loyola - 14 years ago
Jim Hyla ben03 scoop85 The biggest result of today's loss is that, had we won, we'd be a 6th seed and projected to face MD in a second round game. I totally agree we got (arguably) a more favorable draw than had we won today. I'll change my tune from earlier when I was less than pleased with our finish. Loyola looked very weak in their game against JHU ... and having taken SU to the final shotby ben03 - Other Sports

Re: Lax Cornell 14 Brown 8 Ivy lax tournament postgame - 14 years ago
as bill mentioned ... our ability to make smart/timely decisions with the ball in the last minute of the game continues to be our biggest problem. we almost did it last weekend and then gave it up today. Coach T needs to have the guys take a deep breath and CALM DOWN. we're turn into the spazzy 16-years who doesn't know what to do with the ball ... and we're better than that. Re: Computer Use and Comfort survey - 14 years ago
cth95 One thing that I think I find important that is not on your survey is the height of the chair relative to the desk and computer. you're spot on - this is an important factor to consider when setting up a workstation. since most desks are not (easily) height adjustable that leaves us with the keyboard tray option ... which more often than not draws the ire of many. but setting up the chairby ben03 - John Spencer Is Dead

Re: Basketball tournament expanding to 68 teams in 2011 - 14 years ago
why not just let the D2 and D3 tournaments play into the big dance as well? ... that way everyone knows who's the best team in the land. it would make more money for the NC$$ and we know that's all they really care about these days.by ben03 - Other Sports

Re: UHN Pregame Thread (RIT and Denver too) - 14 years ago
adamw As I wrote in the other thread ... with all the talk of Barry Melrose and his 1-game sample size to determine Cornell's greatness, and what with everyone in our CHN Bracket Contest picking Cornell, etc..... I thought a bit of agonizing history would be good ...most of which was touched on in this thread already ... By the way, the Palahicky play was ruled a goal on the ice. They ovby ben03 - Hockey
Re: UNH Pregame Thread (RIT and Denver too) - 14 years ago
judy lhayes It seemed to me last weekend that the boards in Albany were very rough and unpredictable -- the puck was often not where the guys expected it. The ice also seemed soft or something, contributing to passes being less crisp than they should have been. More practice with these conditions might help. It was also quite warm in Albany last weekend. In the rink was colder than outside buby ben03 - Hockey

Re: Fall lacrosse - 14 years ago
scoop85Al DeFlorioNot Fall Ball, but just read that next year's NCAA quarterfinals will be at Princeton and Stony Brook, May 22 and 23. Interesting. So this means the "Southern" bracket will be at Princeton. Won't make the Marylanders too happy (although they do get the FF back in Baltimore). i think the committee is trying to throw a bone to other schools b/c the FF is at M&by ben03 - Other Sports
